Anyone here good with computers and can help me pick one out? ☺️

I need something for under $1200 that can handle heavy video editing (adobe premiere pro). Just HD videos for now but if it could handle 4K in the future that would be ideal. I had my eye on something from amazon but the price just shot up by $400 so I’m looking for something new.

For reference, this is the one I was looking at before: iBUYPOWER Gaming PC Computer Desktop Element 9260 (Intel Core i7-9700F 3.0Ghz, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB, 16GB DDR4, 240GB SSD, 1TB HDD, WiFi & Windows 10 Home) Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07V34QQ3C/

Can anyone offer me some helpful suggestions? ☺️I realize building my own is an option (I’m A+ certified and could do it) but I’m under a time deadline and budget and would prefer not to.

Depends on what you're looking for. If you want to expand your gaming horizons beyond strictly Street Fighter V, you literally can't do any better than this pre-built system from iBUYPOWER for price-to-performance right now, and I say that as a DIY enthusiast who's built three systems in the last year.

Otherwise, hit up /r/HardwareSwap and look for these kinds of minimum specs:

  • AMD Ryzen 5 1600 or Intel Core i5-9400, or better
  • 16 GB DDR4-3000 CL15, DDR4-3200 CL16, or better
  • AMD Radeon RX 570 or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3 GB, or better
  • B450 or Z390 motherboard
  • 600+ watt 80 Plus Gold certified power supply, or better

Wow thank you for all the advice! I have some follow up questions on what you mentioned if you don't mind.

>You could fetch more performance with a pre-built at around this price range.

This is actually the Pre-built I've had my eyes on all week, I knew the PC community would never forgive me if I didn't at least try to entertain the "build it yourself" route. My #1 priority is to start with an up-gradable gaming PC.

https://www.amazon.com/iBUYPOWER-Computer-Element-9260-i7-9700F/dp/B07V34QQ3C/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8&th=1

>The cooler isn't necessary

So like, I don't gotta buy this shit at all!? or I could just a cheap one. Again, I have never built a PC.

>The PSU isn't ideal at the price, and a regular SATA 3 SSD would do you good to squeeze in savings towards a better graphics card.

I was wondering about that price because I also saw there were many cheaper options. He knows I'm trying to get into some heavy graphical games like Doom & Star Citizen & can play games for 8 hours at a time. Could that just be a suggestion for my play-style or would the SATA 3 still be perfect for me?

>If you're playing FPS shooters you may want to consider a 144hz monitor when you can afford it.

Thank you for actually letting me know 144hz would work for my PC specs. I don't really understand how that whole visual system works but i have heard It's a game changer for sure!!!

Thank you so much man

DO NOT BUY THE ONTEL ONE IT IS A RIP OFF for a 4 year old gpu, a 4. ore cpu 6 or sp years old. it is better if you buy something with everything you need rather than upgrading by voiding warrantys the one below has an 8 core i7 9700 and a 1660ti and 16gb ram with windows 10 and a 240gb ssd aswell as a 1tb hard drive. It looks like the whole country spent their $1200 checks on $1000ish gaming PCs. There just isn't much in stock. If you can hold out for a few weeks, more options will be available and some better values.

If you can't wait, this is a big step up from the one you were looking at. I avoid HP except for refurbished enterprise machines. The price on this one I'm recommending is okay. I swear machines like this were closer to $900 a few weeks ago. Anyway, I wish there was a bigger SSD and no HDD, but the smaller SSD/bigger HDD setup is still really common in prebuilts. Not a big deal, really, but you won't be able to install as many games at once Keep your photos/music/videos/documents on the HDD to save space on the SSD. SSD is for installs and related files. HDD is for stuff.

Overall, though, it's a very good build and should run things comfortably on high and at 1080. If you come into a little money later on, this machine can handle a video card upgrade.

$1000

That is a tough question to answer. That is like asking what the best vehicle is for $30k. It really depends on your usage case and preferences.

If you have no experience building PC's or working with electronics and no one to assist you I honestly wouldn't recommend building a $1500 PC you actually need on your first go. Cost wise you are not really saving that much building a good quality machine over buying a pre-built. A good monitor is generally going to run you around $200ish. So you are playing with $1200-1300 plus applicable taxes for the PC even with a cheap keyboard and mouse.

Maybe get some used parts for cheap later and see if you can build a machine if you want to get into this as a hobby.

Given your usage case I would suggest shopping around with the following minimums in mind:

  • At least a 6 core i5 9000 series or 6 core Ryzen 5 2000 series.

  • At least a R570 or GTX1650 (make sure a minimum of 4 GB VRAM).

  • At least 8 GB of RAM.

  • At least a 250 GB SSD boot drive.

  • If you can only get a machine with a 250 GB SSD then make sure to get a mechanical hard drive for extended storage, at least 1 TB.

Keep in mind these are minimums, if you can find better parts in your price range definitely go for it.

Amazon is kind of the gold standard to look at prices but there are lots of other places to shop as well. Microsoft's online store sometimes has deals and Lenovo and Dell both offer okay pre-build systems. Generally speaking you'll find better deals online then at your local retailers.

I don't buy pre-builds myself but something like this on Amazon might work for you (US Prices): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07V34QQ3C/ref=psdc_13896597011_t1_B07VGJDKZ4

My only suggestion is to not dismiss pre-built PCs out-of-hand. I could easily find a comparable pre-built with your proposed budget from a respected company with a warranty and windows key.

New Pc?

I've been looking to buy a new pc, and have been wondering if the pc I might get is an actual upgrade.

https://www.amazon.com/iBUYPOWER-Computer-Element-9260-i7-9700F/dp/B07V34QQ3C?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&fbclid=IwAR0jnKVbDQUhx6L4WLPJVXMLB13kHARwqRstbFiVcvKTCdPWc-O7nTWbiG0

My current specs:

I7-7700HQ 2.80Hz

8GB 2400MHz

GTX1050 2GB

in a laptop so upgrading isn't an option sadly

CyberpowerPC is a well known brand, but I'm not sure the RAM is even going to cut it. Are you able to return it and get something for around $1100?

I would recommend either of these 2 options...

Intel Core i7-9700F 3.0Ghz, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB, 16GB DDR4, 240GB SSD, 1TB HDD

Ryzen 5 3600X 3.8GHz 6-Core, B450 MATX, 16GB DDR4, GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB, 960GB SSD, WiFi

I would recommend going for the second prebuilt tbh. Better processor, and having just the SSD will make things both quieter and faster.

Opinion on my first ever PC

I'm looking to buy my first ever PC. my budget is around 800-1000Euro. I found this pc on CyberpowerPC and i liked the idea that you can add different parts to it so i played around and built up a PC but i'm unsure if it's good or not as I dont know much about pc's. Ive tried my best to stay in range of my budget but i would appreciate it if someone could check it over for me and see if its suitable.

The PC is called Infinity X66 Gaming Pc ( https://www.cyberpowersystem.co.uk/system/Infinity-X66-Gaming-PC ) and these are the specs and added parts ive added to it. All together it came to 920 Euro (not including shipping)

You don't need to be able to build a gaming pc to have one. Get this (comes with mouse and keyboard too): https://www.amazon.com/HP-Pavilion-i5-9400F-Hexa-Core-Bluetooth/dp/B082J6QPX6/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=1660ti+hp&qid=1582120286&sr=8-5

Or if you want something flashier:

And a monitor (comes with the cables:)

Get a logitech gaming headset, a mouse pad and you're all set. It's all plug and play like a gaming laptop. If you haven't used Windows (since you're an apple user) it's straightforward. There's plenty of videos on youtube to show you how to use it. Once you install steam you can buy games and they'll download and set up automatically for you. You'll get the hang of it. You would have to be legitimately retarded to fail at that and I'm almost sure you're not lmao.

For a laptop you could get something like this:

https://www.amazon.com/HP-2019-14-Laptop-14-CF0014DX/dp/B07KNLVRJ2/ref=sr_1_4

It's nothing fancy but if you're just writing papers and watching youtube it'll do a pretty good job. If you want something more higher end probably a lenovo flex 14 but honestly would be overkill unless you're coding.

You should always give your budget when asking this. Desktops can be upwards of 5000$

For 3D work you will want the best graphics card you can afford, the better the graphics card the faster your GPUrenders will be in Arnold.

Here are 3 different price tiers. I wouldn't recommend going above 2000 with a build if you are just starting to learn 3D.

It is usually better to build your own pc as you will pay up to 400 or more extra for a prebuilt machine that may have lesser quality parts (useless things like rgb), and won't be as customized to your needs.

Logical Increment is a good site for seeing builds by price.

I would get a cheaper case than this site recommends, the case does not add performance and the money is better spent on upgrading internals.

If you can a wait a few months the 3000 Nvidia graphics cards are releasing supposedly in September. They should be a substantial increase in performance than the current, and all other cards will probably drop in price. The XX70s series are usually the best performance to price ratio so the RTX3070 will probably be the one to get.
