I had them in my kitchen a while ago. I used pest control spray, IGR (insect growth regulator) and Advion gel in all the cabinets, pantry, behind all of the appliances and behind all of the outlets. My bug guy says they're attracted to the outlet areas for some reason.

this will. kill. them. all.

We rented a house from a family member (bad idea) and found out it had a horrible infestation of German cockroaches. This stuff was the only thing we found that worked. We reapplied every 3 days or so, which was prob overkill, and waited about two weeks.

I used this stuff after moving into a place that was infested and the landlords wouldn’t do anything about it:
advion 383920 4 Tubes and 4 Plungers Cockroach German Roach Pest Control Inse, Brown https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00730QW70/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabc_V4dYFb2ZDDMGX
I swear it was like a miracle. I put it in the corners of the kitchen (as well as other places) and the next morning I found dozens of dead roaches on the kitchen floor. I swept them up and the next morning there were dozens more. It literally killed all the cockroaches in the entire place, which I didn’t think was possible. After a week or so, I used my vacuum and vacuumed the inside of all the cupboards and washed the shelves to get the hidden ones disposed of.
I made an effort at getting all the food and trash out of my place but I had three teens and honestly it was never fully clean, and this still worked. So do what you can with the trash and food but you can start using this right away, you don’t have to get all that stuff out first.
I had two cats so I put it in obscure corners they couldn’t reach and they were never harmed.

This stuff is made by Dupont. You must put on your warface, because this is war. Sounds like you also need a growth regulator which they also make. Spend the money. This stuff is excellent. I had neighbors above who hoarded out their whole place, suddenly, babies, juveniles...I didn't wait to see the big ones. While I waited for Advion to arrive, I armed myself with bleachwater spray and paper towels to spray and kill the littles. Read all the comments on Amazon about this stuff. Follow directions, set your perimeter. Eternal vigilance wins the day. Good luck!

The absolute best roach killer ever. Had some shitty landlords in the past. They would bring out exterminators and didnt do anything. This stuff worked insanely well. They make an ant bait too that is amazing. This stuff is so so so worth the money.

Try this stuff, apply it monthly in kitchen, bathroom, etc: advion 383920 4 Tubes and 4 Plungers Cockroach German Roach Pest Control Inse, Brown https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00730QW70/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_6w0GFbNM1J36S
I lived in a basement apartment in DC and this was the only thing worked.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00730QW70/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Yup - 4 tubes for $33. I chose Prime because it seemed like it would arrive faster/more reliably. I also asked our landlord to send the exterminator. He's pretty responsive and I won't pay out-of-pocket for that but I wasn't sure when they'd show. The Advion arrives in 2 days.

The only DIY thing that has ever worked for me and most people I know is Advion.
You also want to make sure no water is around and food is cleaned up.
I would definitely suggest your property managers though. They likely have exterminators and a plan in place to deal with them though.

Having lived in a dc basement for many years and seen enough of those MFers I can suggest this product as a first line of defense:
advion 383920 4 Tubes and 4 Plungers Cockroach German Roach Pest Control Inse, Brown https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00730QW70/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Cp7tFbXV4Z0XP
I put it down monthly and never saw them again. If I forgot, then Id see them in a month or two.
I didn’t look at the pic though so it could be something different. Never want to see one again...

Agree. Best stuff this advion roach gel. Lived in the project.... so much roaches. Killed it within a week . You can get it on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/advion-Plungers-Cockroach-Insecticide-Australian/dp/B00730QW70/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=advion+roach+gel&qid=1601295859&sr=8-3

A spider outside is no big deal. The roaches need dealt with. You should let them know about that right away so they can get on top of it.
It shouldn’t be your responsibility but if you do decide to deal with it yourself then I recommend this stuff:
advion 383920 4 Tubes and 4 Plungers Cockroach German Roach Pest Control Inse, Brown https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00730QW70/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_WqQwFbVT1DMDR

https://www.amazon.com/advion-Plungers-Cockroach-Insecticide-Australian/dp/B00730QW70 this works really well. They were all dead in less than a week and kept them gone.

I live in an old apartment complex filled with german cockroaches. This has helped kill and keep out new roaches for 3mo now. Borax and sugar helps too. The glue traps can only do so much.

Advion is the absolute shit. Had a major infestation after one of my friends moved in and turned out to be a total shit pig. Had dozens of roaches living in his furniture. Saved the house.

I used to have this problem. Gel is the solution. Here's an example, https://www.amazon.com/advion-Plungers-Cockroach-Insecticide-Australian/dp/B00730QW70
Place it inside covers and under the sink to avoid pet poisoning. Typically around the fridge as they like the heat.

buy Advion. Exterminators usually apply a similar type gel in the insides of cabinet hinges, the inside far corners of cabinets, under pull-out drawers.
I personally prefer to pull out all my electrical wall platings in the kitchen, including electric sockets and light switches — and apply the gel on the inside. I would rather roaches stay in the walls rather than crawl around my pantry. Also do this on a wall that shares a kitchen with a neighbor, if you know their floorplan.

Any big city with older buildings are likely to have a roach issue. However, there is one product that does wonders to kill roaches in your house.
For any of you with a roach issue now or in your future apartment, pick up some Advion roach gel off amazon. This gel is what professional exterminators use (you can't even buy it over the counter in Canada). It is very effective and after a few weeks will kill off all of them pretty much guaranteed. Read the 14k+ reviews which will all say the same thing on all the pest control forums. Downside: not cheap at $30 but it lasts a while.

For bugs order Advio from Amazon it works. Then get the Gentrol to cripple the bugs from replicating. It's expensive but it works. Seal all cracks and fill holes if you can. Stop all leaks of water. Here's the link to the pest control https://www.amazon.com/advion-Plungers-Cockroach-Insecticide-Australian/dp/B00730QW70

I empathise--ive lived in many shite apartments with them. And bedbugs. For roaches, dont waste your time with stuff you can buy local. On Amazon, some sellers will sell syringes of the past control's proprietary mix, and it works wonders. I've used this one for bad infestations, coupled with Borax: https://www.amazon.com/advion-Plungers-Cockroach-Insecticide-Australian/dp/B00730QW70/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=roach+treatment&qid=1587105864&sr=8-3
No food anywhere, keep cereals in airtight containers, take out rubbish daily. If they continue due to be a problem, you'll need to move as they are likely coming in from a neighbour's unit.
I hope it works out. Also, I love Oregon. Oregon residents are amongst the nicest Americans I've ever met. Best, most polite drivers, too. Sorry Denvet isn't treating you right. Some people here are entitled assholes.

Someone mentioned Advion and I can second that.
As far as 'normal' goes, we get a big American roach maybe once a month or so, but Germans are not okay and should not be tolerated at all.

At the recc'd of another redditor I got this product to help now that I'm not having my building do their monthly extermination due to COVID. I mostly deal with German cockroaches which seems to be worse than I've ever experienced in all the years I've lived in my apt. The gel definitely helped decrease cockroaches and I've found a lot dead cockroaches including the huge 2-3" palmetto bugs.

Blatella Germanica, aka the German cockroach. Now these have become quite notorious in the pest world as being some of the fastest adapting and reproducing species... But! Not to worry! An exterminator will charge you $75 for a perimeter spray, which is about as effective as spraying raid like lysol and it will not contact kill or kill the colony. A relatively new product that has worked wonders for many people due to its highly attractive bait matrix and domino like effect on roaches who feed on the dead roaches is Syngenta’s Advion.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00730QW70/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_jEQfFbR1TSM5X
My grandmother has used it before but for an Oriental roach problem and it got rid of all of them and they stayed gone, its also rated for german roaches.

This video tells you how to use this product for German roaches. Hope this helps! :)

yes it's normal in many (not all) condos in hawaii. the problem is that if your condo is infested, it doesn't matter how many you kill, they're coming in from pipes, gaps in wall, etc from your neighbors. If your condo doesn't regularly treat, you'll have a problem. If there's trash left out onbalconies for pick up you'll have a problem.

My suggestion for you if youre renting, and not going to be doing improvements such as caulking up cracks in the walls, fixtures, etc. is to start treating with a commercial roach treatment such as advion. It's stronger than your retailer roach killer, and keeps killing for months because the product stays active for a long period of time, and roaches bring it back to the nest where it will continuously kill roaches and baby roaches.

I just moved here in June and I had a definite infestation in the townhouse I am renting, obviously the previous tenants were not concerned and let it get bad. A friend in the area gave me the 'it's the south, get used to it' answer but I definitely had more than the occasional big guys wandering in, so I wasn't okay with that answer. If they are medium-ish I would personally treat inside. It definitely sounds like my situation was a lot worse than yours, so perhaps this is overkill, but this is what I did:
- Terminex came out and sprayed. I wouldn't necessarily recommend them but it looks like your building is having someone spray, so that's good! You're covered there.
- Combat Traps. These are great because you can get them anywhere and they are inexpensive. Place them where you see the 'traffic' and the will eat the poison and apparently bring it back to the nest
- Adivon Gel - Buy or Amazon or at domyown.com. This is a gel that works great. The only thing I don't like about it is it will harden and then get stuck wherever you apply it. I put down painters or masking tape and then put the gel over top of that so I can remove the whole thing later. Works similar as the combat traps but seems to be more effective. It's a little pricey but you get way more than you need, so you can treat again later if needed. And it works.
- Gentrol Point Source - can get on amazon or here. This is actually a hormone disrupter that stops the babies from fully developing so they can't reproduce. It works for something like 65 square feet so this is a good option where you have shared walls with neighbors since you can't control what your neighbors are doing. Probably not going to help with any coming in from outside. Again, pricey, but you get a ton and they should be replaced every three months.
You can buy and use the combat traps, adivon and gentrol without breaking your building's 'don't spray' policy, so that's a plus. I also bought diatomaceous earth and borax but I recommend the top three products above anything else based on my own experience. It's admirable to try to take the natural route, but I don't think it's as effective. I've had smaller infestations (once due to disgusting roommates and once just due to weather) in other areas and have treated those with only Combat or only Adivon.
If I had to go with just one product above, I'd go with the Adivon. If you want something immediate while waiting for an online order of the Adivon, pick up some combat traps from literally anywhere (walgreens, target, lowes, etc) and that will get you started.
Another thing to do is if it looks like they may be coming from behind appliances, pull those out and clean behind them.
I know it can be tempting to just move but if it makes you feel any better, it sounds like what I was dealing with was much much worse than what you are seeing and I now haven't seen a roach in about 3 weeks. It took about 2-3 weeks for the treatment(s) to work because they will keep hatching for that period of time.
Good luck!

As the little buggers lay eggs the next batch get immune to the first set of gel you then change the gel you used for first 30 day's to a different cockroach gel as so that is effective against them.
After 30 day's more then you again change gel.
When I had the problem I kept getting fumigation done along witb using traps and gels in my building, paying a company to come out and do that for me, but after a month or so the roaches would come back again as the company only kept using the same gel
That was a waste of money and I tgen started reading up that to every 30 day's you should change to a different gel that doesn't have same ingredients as you need to break egg tk hatch cycle.
I used following
advion https://www.amazon.com/advion-Plungers-Cockroach-Insecticide-Australian/dp/B00730QW70
https://www.amazon.com/Maxforce-Cockroach-Stronger-Cucarachas-PACKAGED/dp/B0042JCIDC
Pest Expert Formula IC Advanced Cockroach Killer Gel Treatment 10g - Maximum Strength Fast Acting Control (1 x 10g) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07ZZJ99JN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_LIyaFbTNPGS1S
I also got a cockroach spray that mixes with water and sprayed all areas like door entries, behind fridges skirting board's and anywhere else I suspected they would be, also used the sticky traps.

I know everyone is saying put your rent in escrow and contact landlord but if he's not proactive... you need to be doing something ASAP as well as getting in touch with your neighbors. German roaches do not fuck around and the situation is likely already way out of hand from the amount you're describing seeing. If moving is not an option, you need to act now. If you do move, be very careful you're not bringing them with you.
Do a huge deep clean of the kitchen, pull everything out from the walls. Bleach that shit. Get all food in airtight containers and if you can, don't cook in the kitchen for a while. I know it sucks. Take your trash out every night. Sweep, mop. Leave the sink bone dry. They like food but they NEED water.
After your deep clean is done, you hit them with some borax. It's cheap and can be found at home depot or the like. Sprinkle that shit all over, a light dusting. If they see clumps they'll just avoid it. (keep away from kids/pets and don't inhale much yourself). I've read differing things on the safety of borax so keep away from pets just to be safe.
You will need a multi-pronged approach. Advion is highly highly effective and recommend by people who know their shit. Dot it around everywhere in your kitchen, places where you've seen the roaches. again out of reach of pets or children. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00730QW70/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Next use some IGR (insect growth regulator) this prevents the babies from maturing and having more DEVIL BABIES. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002PE9P0K/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
other optional shit: glue traps to monitor the situation and see how many you're dealing with. With the stuff I mentioned above, you won't want to kill them all on sight, you'll want them to eat the poison and take it back to the nest so the others will eat the poisoned dead body and DIE. *METAL MUSIC PLAYS IN BACKGROUND*
KEEP TREATING even after you don't see them anymore. And hopefully by this time your whole building will have been professionally treated by an exterminator. If you only do your unit, they'll simply move into another unit and then come back for you eventually.
Godspeed my friend.
