Oh I see I have this one for my laptop https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VF88TMR/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_I18bFb62ZAW7P and my desktop is custom build with an i9 and 2080ti. But if you want the best bang for your buck I suggest building it on pcpartpicker
1 points • TheMaxClyde
So you're saying I don't really need an i9? What's the added performance for? Things like video editing maybe? I don't need it if it's for that but I'd like to know.
And is a full RTX 2070 better than a 2080 Max-Q?
Sounds like this fits the bill

How well would this laptop run the game?

Literally any sub-$2k laptop with a 240hz display.
Here's one.

I don't know much about the new laptops, but if it is worth anything imo (uneducated opinion) this is the better option, mainly because I don't think you will need or use the power of the super 2070, but you will likely take great advantage of the 240Hz screen on it.

A little old but quite enough for your needs and will save a chunk of money with nearly same performance

Appreciate the response! I thought it got deleted because I'm a naughty boy.. G15 does look good I really like the 240hz one but I can't seem to find it in stock with prices that aren't jacked. Also was looking at one of these from Amazon Warehouse.

https://www.amazon.com/Zephyrus-Portable-GeForce-i7-9750H-GU502GW-AH76/dp/B07VF88TMR Is this the one you mean? Either way I'm looking into those you mentioned. The biggest problem tho is paying for it, which is a whole other can of worms. Even if it were half the price my mom would want it to be paid with installments, which was the reason I even made this post at all.

Really well a few hiccups but I think it mainly the games fault since I always see some stuttering on console and pc versions https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07VF88TMR?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

You'd be surprised. My RTX is in a laptop but the new RTX's are supposed to be pretty power-efficient. Even then though, a new PSU is like 100 bucks. By my math you're still coming out ahead on getting a new laptop.
This (not an affiliate link) is what I have-- I also added a 2TB SSD and another 16 GB of RAM for an additional $300ish. A lot of power under the hood for a great price but the speakers and display are ass for video editing. Need to actually hook it up to a pro monitor/headphones for it to be useful for anything but logging footage and basic assembly cuts.
If you're looking for a laptop that works as an editing rig out of the box (no headphones or external monitor) you're gonna wanna look at the Gigabyte Aero's with OLED displays. Those start at like $2700. Or a MacBook Pro. The one I have at work was like $5k and it lags behind my personal laptop in a few areas but the speakers and display are amazing.

Yeah! It’s the ASUS ROG Zephyrus M GU501GW. It’s the 9750h processor, my bad. The laptop is fully unlocked and I’ve got mine at 4.8GHZ with 12 threads!! It also doesn’t come with the extra memory and RAM just expansion slots, but I included the price of those in the $2,000. The CPU on Userbenchmark really didn’t perform well, only going to 4.0ghz.
Edit: dang it’s only $1700 on Amazon right now!

Hi, if an ASUS laptop will work for you, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus M is a good choice. If it is too expensive, the cheaper configuration will work too.

I picked this up about a month ago and added a 16gb stick of ram to make it 32gb. plays everything i want on ultra/high over 60FPS (GTA, Witcher 3, Overwatch, ETC) battery lasts about 6 hours without gaming, gaming lasts up 2-3 hours depending on the game. Has USB C charging as well as the regular barrel charger. Haven't had issues with throttling although i did undervolt a little bit. has a 240hz screen that looks amazing to me. has an extra m.2 slot at add a secondary drive. Doesnt get to hot, nor loud with the undervolt. i definitely love the machine. get the 2060 or 2070 model

The tech chap did a video a few weeks ago that said to wait if possible before getting a laptop because ryzen 4000 is coming out and those new zephyrus g14 and g15 will have even better performance due to 7nm chips. If you need to get one now intel's partner eluktronics will give you the best bang for the buck but according to reviews their keyboard is weird/different and will take some getting used to. My personal favorite at that price is the zephyrus 15" as you can get a rtx 2070 and 6 core i7 9750h and its thin and light. The highest possible performance to price will be from eluktronics but if you want a name brand then the asus rog would be my best choice. Eluktronics is partnered with intel so its not just some cheapo brand that is totally crap. But with eluktronics you can get a rtx 2080 for 200 more while with a asus it would be almost 500 more for the 2080. Still for battery performance the eluktronics has a 93wh battery but if you can wait then wait for ryzen 4000 and other new laptop tech otherwise the eluktronics one is the clear price to performance winner but with a weird keyboard.

This is a thin and light gaming laptop with a pretty decent battery life. AFAIK D2 has some sort of cross save so his account should transfer to PC easily. It has a 240hz screen with good enough specs to run it which should improve his PvP Crucible matches greatly, or even just general PvE stuff, while keeping him options for other AAA titles. The keyboard is pretty nice IMO with good tactile feedback. A minor caveat is that it does not comes with webcam, which depending on how he uses Zoom could be inconvenient, but it does however improve privacy and let you purchase external webcams with higher quality.
Should he wants something with more power then he can get the black version:

Hmm upon checking it seems like you'll more likely find 2070s for your price range. There are a lot of options though so you should look up reviews of the products.

Some ideas I think the first link looks like the best option though from what I've seen although it is 15 inch screen and not 17 inch.

Lighter laptops will usually have compromises like an inferior Max-Q graphics card. This one is an exception, it's 5 lbs and has the full power RTX 2070 for $1399 after the rebate card:

This is another good option with the full RTX 2070 but is even lighter and more expensive: https://www.amazon.com/Eluktronics-MAX-17-Ultra-Light-Notebook/dp/B083LH6TGX?th=1
