ROG Zephyrus G15 Coming with 4800HS, 2060 & 1080p 240Hz panel on 13 April for $1399 (This is 15” not 14”)

The manufacturers haven't said much. It is available for purchase (instead of pre-order) on Amazon, but it ships in May. I don't think that stock will run out or that the price will go up.

hey what do you think of this laptop?

it's essentially the same one but with a 240 hz display and it costs 400 more

Thanks a lot, after some searching and help from a friend I found a very similar one but with more battery life Asus zog zephyrus G15, which I thought I wouldn't care about, but I will in uni. https://www.amazon.com/Zephyrus-Gaming-GeForce-Windows-GA502IV-XS76/dp/B0865VBN6X

9750h+2060? Depending on how much you got it for. The Zephyrus rog g15 with the better and new amd processor plus rtx 2060 is about 1400
https://www.amazon.com/Zephyrus-Gaming-GeForce-Windows-GA502IV-XS76/dp/B0865VBN6X Out of stock tho The minimum requirements for VR is pretty low, so I don’t see why the Helios wouldn’t be able to run it. I recommend doing your own research tho, I might be missing something

If you can wait about a month, the ROG Zephyrus G15(2020) has a Ryzen 7 4800HS, 16GB, RTX 2060, 1TB NVMe and a 15.6" 240hz IPS screen for the exact same cost, except it isn't a garb refurb. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0865VBN6X/

If gaming is something you want to get into, I'd suggest you stayed away from macs (IMO, windows is the way to go, if we are strictly speaking of gaming). I would definitely take a look at asus' ROG lineup, those machines seem to have very good specs and even the top of the line models are inside your budget, like the Zephyrus G15.
Though if you aren't all that much into gaming, you are better off opting for something less expensive. It's always nice to have some leftover for a night out with friends.

I was in the same boat and looking at that model. I ended up ordering the ASUS G15 as it has the new amd 8 core 16 thread cpu and the RTX 2060 max q gpu. The ASUS comes with freesync and 240 MHz / 3ms response time. Can’t really beat that.

Hey u/DadCallsMeBobbyHill, sorry about the late response. Heres the laptop suggestion im gonna throw into the ring the ROG Zephyrus G15 https://www.amazon.com/Zephyrus-Gaming-GeForce-Windows-GA502IU-ES76/dp/B0865VBN6X/?tag=tb3lap-20&th=1. $1280 for a 1660ti and 144hz, $1400 for a 2060 and a 240hz screen. Both will run BO3 at 120+ fps and CW at 60+fps at 1080p (depends on your settings of course) but the 2060 variant will also give you the benefit of DLSS to get higher framerates by sacrificing very little visual fidelity, which will be even less noticiable on a laptop screen. Could possibly even get 144hz 1080p with medium-high settings using DLSS on the 2060. Make sure to go for the Ryzen 7 4800HS variant over the Intel Variant.

They are working on the thermals. Users on reddit were able to bring down the temps by 20 C
Webcam is a bummer but external webcams and using your phone as one is a workaround.
14" is pretty small but that's why this laptop is selling so much. It's basically a 15.6 chunky gamer level laptop at a discrete small package.
Mine is on the way.
They do make a 15" with an amazing screen but they blocked the vents for some reason (you can remove it) and it runs warm. It's also not as premium build but still a powerhouse.

If your looking for the new AMD 4000 series CPU currently the best configuration for a laptop would be here.

Its currently the only laptop out there with a 240 hz screen, and supposedly 100% SRGB screen. With a 2060 and 4000 series AMD CPU. However it is 200 dollars out of your price range.

Would you reccomend the 240z g15? I don't want the 120hz due to the display (I want to have a laptop that will last 4+ years) and having a good srgb is important to me. I'm planning on opening up the vents as well with a replacement back cover so I can have more cooling.

There is something strange about it. The listing is missing crucial information. The seller has bad rating. It doesn't list the full model number and some other stuff. I not a seller or anything.
I own this system and will say unless you are going to remove the cover on the fan I would go with a different system. You will need to install the updates as soon as you get it. The link below is the site bought it from. Look through this listing and compare it to the one you are looking at and note the missing information. The battery life has been great but I use mostly as by business system that I can game on.

Thanks.. I knew it worked for monitors, not laptops.

For example, I wanted to get this second hand: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0865VBN6X/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_i-TKEb393NJ86?th=1

I searched google but nothing tells me I can enable freesync with the 2060, so i was kind of confused.

ASUS Zephyrus G15 vs G14?
Hey all,
Looking to buy a new computer and am torn between the two ASUS with the AMD processors. If I am primarily concerned with portability, and want to play high CPU games like Civ 6 or Total War: warhammer 2, which one should be my go to?
https://www.amazon.com/Zephyrus-Gaming-GeForce-Windows-GA502IV-XS76/dp/B0865VBN6X?th=1
It seems like the G15 has a better GPU, while the G14 has a better CPU. But I have also heard about issues with heating on the G14.
Anyone have advice or recommendations for me?

The Asus you linked is an older model. I would look into the 2020 G14 for a MacBook looking laptop with gaming capabilities, A15 for best value gaming laptop, and 2020 Asus G15 for the best screen that probably rivals your MacBook, but questionable build and thermals
The MSI you linked has a newer model that came out with a much better build for the money with the GS66. Also this is easier to access the motherboard, and still with undervolting compatibility

Better cooling is always worth it in my opinion, it makes sure your product lasts longer. If you're already willing to pay around 1500 usd, I think you should make your purchase worth it.
Off topic suggestions:
1) I'm not personally a fan of dell gaming laptops unless you go for their alienwares. Dell's build quality isn't the best and makes it look cheap, also its a fingerprint and scratch magnet, it'll start to look real old after a month itself.
2) Acer Predator Helios (the one you're talking about) is a good product, but there's a catch. Once you start comparing AMD Ryzen processors to intel, intel starts to look like a joke. I know the 10th gen i7 is amazing, but the Ryzen 7 4800h outperforms it and is on level with some i9 10th gen processors, that too at a cheaper rate. To add to that, if you get a Ryzen 9 4900hs, it absolutely crushes any other processor, given its price range. MAIN CONCLUSION: DON'T SLEEP ON RYZEN PROCESSORS! They're faster, cheaper.
3) In case you get confused how ryzen is beter. They use zen 2 technology which makes them do more IPC (Instructions per cycle). This is how a 4.2 GHz Ryzen processor beats a 5.0 GHz Intel processor. The intel processors do 1 Instruction per cycle, therefore 1*5.0GHz = 5.0GHz, but the Ryzen does, say 1.25 instructions per cycle, therefore 1.25*4.2GHz = 5.25GHz.
[Note: The 1.25 instructions per cycle wasn't the correct figure, it varies from processor to processor, they go upto 2 instructions per cycle!! Still, whatever be the correct figures, AMD beats intel in the current processor war]
4) Coming to GPUs, RTX 2060 is definitely better than the GTX 1660ti when it comes to lighting effects or multi-rendering. So, that's completely your choice. BUTTTT, if you are a casual gamer and don't stream or do professional video editing, the GTX 1660ti can give you amazing 80+ fps on major popular games like PUBG, GTA V, 100+fps on Fortnite, 200+fps on CS:GO. This can save you some more bucks!
5) I don't mean to confuse you with all these points, if you only wanted a clear cut answer between your two choices, I'd say take the Acer Helios 300 over the Dell G5.
However, if you did think my suggestions were useful, I'd like to suggest you the ASUS Zephyrus Series. Some of them are powered by intel, some by AMD. I'd like you to check out the AMD ones. The Zephyrus g15 (2020) comes at $1400 on https://www.amazon.com/Zephyrus-Gaming-GeForce-Windows-GA502IV-XS76/dp/B0865VBN6X/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=zephyrus+g15&qid=1604128169&sr=8-3,
its got ryzen 7 4800hs, 16 gb ram, rtx 2060, 1 Tb ssd
the only demerit I found on this laptop is the lack of a webcam, but lets get real here, all pre installed webcams are potatoes, you're better off buying an external webcam. So, if you can afford the lack of webcam, this is a great product and beats the two options you currently are going with.
An expensive but even better suggestion, zephyrus 14 with ryzen 9 4900hs and rtx 2060 max Q (serious speed on this CPU) :

Right now and, perhaps next year, there are huge dominance of Ryzen processors from AMD. They are better in all ways. But people are still usig intel because they used to it. But believe me and watch some good reviews and tests about it. So that makes your choice easier since there are not much who made their top laptops with ryzen cpu (there are many technological reason for that). I don’t know what your budget is. But check these models:
https://www.amazon.com/Zephyrus-Gaming-GeForce-Windows-GA502IV-XS76/dp/B0865VBN6X

https://www.amazon.com/MSI-P65-Creator-1084-Ultra-Thin-i7-9750H/dp/B07TN4C5VZ
There are still many other good options. But first too might have very good performance. But you might also consider other things rather than just raw performance. Like screen quality, battery life, weight. I recommend to check reviews on YouTube from Dave Lee and Linus Tech Tips.
