Hi, I know nothing about gaming but my boyfriend requested a monitor for Christmas... Please help.
I couldn't ask too many questions without him ending up just picking a monitor for me to buy, and honestly where is the fun in that? So after consulting one of his best friends this is where I'm at;
My budget is around 300$, something with 144hz or better if possible, I specifically want to get him a curved one, and these were what I cam up with in current ascending order of preference (but again I know nothing, please explain any suggestions you may have so I may learn more about these things)
1.) ASUS TUF Gaming VG328H1B 32” (Best contender) https://store.asus.com/us/item/202005AM130000001
2.) MSI Optix G27C2 (I've heard good things) https://www.amazon.com/MSI-Non-Glare-FreeSync-Optix-G27C2/dp/B074G96MPM
3.) Sceptre (budget friendly wild card) https://www.amazon.com/Sceptre-1920x1080-FreeSync-DisplayPort-C326B-185RD/dp/B088GWZ6YD/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=Curved%2BComputer%2BMonitors&qid=1605597806&sr=8-4&th=1

Any help would be greatly appreciated! And if there are any affordable accessories that you recommend that would be great to know too! (ooh or if anyone owns/likes a custom shop lmk, our anniversary is right after Christmas 😂)
Edit: He mostly plays League, Apex, Warzone, CSgo, and now wants me to play the new COD with him 😅 I’m going to his place today, I’ll take a peek at his set up and get more info on his CPU. I know he just got these this summer because we share an amazon account: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07D1XCKWW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06Y66K3XD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I think the 580 8gb would be the best GPU for under 200$.
Someone who knows more may correct me though.

I am in a bit of a unique situation, I have a SFFPC (dancase a4) wtih the losercard AIO mod that uses a bracket to raise my GPU by a few mm, blocking the topmost port on every card. This has been fine because I am using an older card from 2012, but I am now looking to upgrade and need a card that still has this port configuration, mainly the extra port to the right along with the 4 to the left. This would allow me to use 4 monitors like I currently do. Does anyone know of a current gen AMD, or even previous gen card that will last me some years that has this port configuration? It needs to be AMD because I run linux on this box. The card I linked would definitely be an upgrade over my 7870 from 2012, but I have a budget of $450 and wanted to get a card that fits that, mainly for longevity.

Either r/hardwareswap or just ebay probably. Even a new one isn't too expensive now if you don't want to deal with used (I know I personally don't usually want to) a new one is only $160ish on Amazon

Is this graphics card ok for 1080p gaming? I am on a really tight budget and this is the best card I can find for $160. XFX RX 580 GTS XXX Edition 8GB (RX-580P8DFD6) https://www.amazon.com/XFX-Radeon-1386MHz-Graphics-RX-580P8DFD6/dp/B06Y66K3XD

I would say it’s worth the extra $30 to get an rx 580 because according to userbenchmarks.com it can gets you an extra 10 FPS in games like Overwatch and PUPG, but overall your system looks good RX 580

I currently have a n intel i5-3570k @ 3.4 and AMD Radeon 7850. some old stuff.
if i pick up a XFX Radeon RX 580 GTS XXX Edition 1386MHz OC+, 8GB GDDR5, will i get way better gaming performance?
i only played league of legends and fortnite really. just tried some total war/watch dogs/ hitman and wanted some better performance

I actually just put out another post asking if the integrated Vega graphics on the 3200G are good enough to not require on of these. I'm not planning on overclocking, either.

This isn't a great price for a 3gb card, (many new games will use more than 3gb VRAM and then throttle hard.) I would strongly consider something like this in that price range.

This is the only link I found. While it is $20 over your budget, I don’t think the cost should impact you too much. Like I said, t’s best to watch benchmarks between the two GPUs to determine which performs best in titles you play most.

You might as well get an RX 580 8GB over the 5500XT for $40 less. Or get the 1660. Unfortunately, with the way they priced the 5500XT, it makes little sense to buy one.
3 points • Paradox68
Hey buddy, might be better to wait for a birthday or something and have your parents get it for you. Being young is awesome like that, not always having to pay for everything - trust me.
Depending on what you want it to do, a graphics card is a very important part of your PC. I assume you have a desktop and that it’s probably a mid tower with a PCIe slot, but you can confirm this if you know the model of your motherboard.
Either way I would NOT recommend going cheap on the Graphics Card.
Here’s a decent card for $160
XFX Radeon RX 580 GTS XXX Edition 1386MHz OC+, 8GB GDDR5, VR Ready, Dual BIOS, 3xDP HDMI DVI, AMD Graphics Card (RX-580P8DFD6) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06Y66K3XD/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_WvneEb6NJPZ36
This one has x1 HDMI port, but if you have multiple screens to connect, get a DisplayPort cable they work even better in my opinion.
If saving $60 is that important, here is a decent cheaper option but if you buy this one you need to understand it may not perform very well after a while
Biostar Radeon RX 550 4GB GDDR5 128-Bit DirectX 12 PCI Express 3.0 x16 DVI-D Dual Link, HDMI, DisplayPort, Gaming Edition https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PFM1KJV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ZwneEb5TPPMBV
You always get what you pay for with computers, no matter what.

Do you think I could handle this? link

Thanks for your response. The WD Black does look worth it to get double the (theoretical) read/write speeds for an extra \~$12.
The rx 580 on the other hand seems like overkill if I'm looking at the right thing (this). At $189 or 746 NIS it's about double the price I had in mind. It looks like it can handle 5 monitors and some serious gaming. Is there a cheaper option with less power for someone not interested in gaming?

If your going to play games then you should probably get a RX 580, there cheap right now for only a $170. Also you might want some more storage both hdd and ssd

Was considering a new GPU for my computer, thanks to my 1080p panel being dead (thanks, cat) I have to exclusively use my 4k TV and need a better card to push it than my current 760. I was looking at an 8gb RX 580 because it's at about the price point I can manage, but wanted to know if there was a better deal or preferable card to get. I'm willing to go cheaper if it gives me about the same performance, and could go up to $200 max, but only for a VERY substantial gain. Any suggestions?

I built a 6x 580 rig back in late 2017. It is still running today with little issues. XFX GTS XXX Edition.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06Y66K3XD/
They have been very solid. Stability is good (usually about 30 days between crashes), hash rate is good (30MH). Comes with dual bios, and a factory installed mining bios on the secondary bios. It certainly is not the most optimized bios/straps, but for plug and play convenience it was really nice. I would do it all again, for sure.
All that said, if your goal is to make a profit, skip it. If you happen to have the cards lying around, go for it. If you are just building a rig for fun as a hobby, go for it. When I decided that I needed to build a rig in 2017, it was close to $20 per day of profit. Now it is $1, maybe $2 on a good day.

Thank you! I was looking at this graphics card which I believe would be compatible because all I would need is a PCI 3.0x16 slot which my motherboard has. Maybe someone else will chime in here with more knowledge or a better recommendation if this would not be ideal.

Why is the RX 590 just $10 more expensive than the RX 580?
I'm sorry if this isn't the right subreddit to post this, and if so please direct me to the right one. I am currently helping my brother upgrade his prebuilt pc he got as a gift a while ago. We wanted to start with a new graphics card and found the best selling one on amazon, here. I'm not sure if the "GTS XXX Edition" at the end of it mean anything significant but it seems to be priced more than the 590 here. I assumed since the 590 was more powerful it would much more than 10 dollars more than the 580. Can you guy help me sort the difference and explain?

I have a prebuilt that I tried to upgrade but my new graphics card is too big for the tower and is not compatible with the power supply. I have decided to just buy compatible parts to build my own PC.
I have a brand new XFX Radeon RX 580 graphics card (link below), as well as an SSD. I will also buy an AMD Ryzen 5 3600X processor, and at least 8 GB of RAM. (These are the recommended specs for Bannerlord).
I know I need a case and a motherboard. My problem is that I don't know what else I really need, nor what to look for. I tried to use PCPartPicker, but ran into a lot of compatibility issues that I didn't understand, and there may be other things I am overlooking.
Would someone like to help me? I want a computer that uses the recommended specs for Bannerlord. But I would like to save money where I can. For example, if a component does not affect gameplay, I would just rather get the cheapest one that is also compatible with my setup.

Your motherboard and cpu are incompatible. B360 is an intel platform while Ryzen is AMD. I would recommend getting the B450 tomahawk instead. Additionally I would recommend getting an RX 580 over a 1650 since it beats it in almost everything at the same price point.
Edit: like the other said, I’d recommend a 2600 or 1600af over the 2700 if you’re only doing a little or no streaming. Also what’s your budget? I’d recommend get 16gb of 3200mhz ram for best price/performance

yeah that's the 1050ti for ya, it is a good budget card, but its starting to show its age.
Probably a 1660 ti/ 1660 super/ 1660. You may want to watch a few youtube videos comparing them.

something like this:

if you go used market you could probably get a pretty good deal too. Like a gtx 1060 or even something like a 980ti.
