PSA: World of Cyberpunk lore book delayed till July 28

Just look at Cyberpunk 2077's cover, they had so much to work with, it could have had a shot of Night City, could've had some weird ass cyborgs, maybe one of the futuristic hot-rods you get to drive...
At least the reversable cover will apparently be female V in a similar pose... Though I'd still rather have any of the four covers they have on the cover of the artbook.

There’s an official lore book from CDPR which goes over all the backstory for NC and the simple, obvious events, places, objects, people, etc. that couldn’t be brought up naturally in the story. Think basic events for WWII, 9/11, Apple, Coronavirus, etc. that you’ll never talk about with someone else in a normal situation (unless you’re arguing about them) because it’s such common knowledge. That’s what this book goes over. No spoilers or allusions to the story, just much-needed context for the world you’ll be inhabiting.

Amazon link, kindle version is very cheap and has the benefit of being instantly available, but the hardcover version is fantastic. I ended up buying both versions as it took well over a month for the physical book to get delivered to Australia for various reasons.
There’s doubtlessly other suppliers that may or may not be cheaper.

But I bought at my “local bookstore” aka Barnes and Noble because 1. I don’t have a true local bookstore and 2. B&N is hurting badly from Amazon anyways

There are some YouTube videos on it, searching this sub would also work. Here's a starter for ten: https://www.denofgeek.com/games/cyberpunk-2077-lore-explained-history-details/
There's also a sort of lore companion guide coming out in July (unless it gets delayed to meet the game release): https://www.amazon.com/World-Cyberpunk-2077-Marcin-Batylda/dp/1506713580/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=Cyberpunk+2077&qid=1593815922&s=books&sr=1-5

Read the World of Cyberpunk book (https://www.amazon.com/World-Cyberpunk-2077-Marcin-Batylda/dp/1506713580/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=world+of+cyberpunk&qid=1598698366&sr=8-1)
It contains lots of background info on the setting, but it won't spoil anything for the game.

The World of Cyberpunk is indeed a lore book. Outstanding book of you’re trying to learn about the lore like I was with no spoilers.
The Guide is a guide to the entire game. Every weapon, hidden collectible, every outcome for every mission etc.

There's a new book coming out that I have my eye on. But I haven't read through the wikis, yet. I was thinking of getting some roleplaying books from R. Talsorian Gamesbut it would start getting expensive. Also, there will be another roleplaying series coming out to bridge the time between 2020 and 2077.

Witcher 3 already had Witcher 1 and Witcher 2 before it, and those were not required but they helped to know the story.
With Cyberpunk its the first game in the IP so its probably going to have alot more intro in it.
But if you really want to study up on the general background i suggest The World of Cyberpunk 2077 book: https://www.amazon.com/World-Cyberpunk-2077-Marcin-Batylda/dp/1506713580

Is that unusual to get things made in the U.S. later in a former Soviet Country then us in North America?
Looks like those are local hobby stores, and they probably have to import them which would add time to delivery. Do you not have Amazon in Slovakia? Checking the U.K. Amazon they have the book available set to release on July 16th... which is weird.
Again though both Amazon.ca, Amazon.com, and the publisher Dark Horse Comics are reporting a July 29th release date.

This should be all you need to have an understanding of the lore (I'd say even more than basic if you go through it all)
CP Red is basically an era between original CP2020 and CP2077, we don't know much about Judy, she's a new character. You should choose lifepath you are comfortable with, when you will know more about the CP world it will be easier to decide. Personally I go with Street Kid on 1st playthrough

No paid DLC or expansions will be available until the game releases, but there's plenty of merch related to available here on the game developer's store.

You could get him one of the little figures/statues of characters in game which go for around $30 typically. Here's a link to one and you can find a number of others just by going to "Customers also viewed" section
The World of Cyberpunk book is a great gift if you think your husband will be interested in the lore of the game world and its characters.
