I got an 8bitdo adapter. I had tried the Switch Pro controller. It was alright but started to suffer from drift really bad. Xbox controllers are made better.

it took a minute to setup because once you connect the xbox controller to it, you have to hold left bumper and select to let it connect the adapter to the switch.

Like the other user said: You need some kind of adapter, but I thought I would add that Mayflash and 8BitDo are two that are often recommended

Well, I have it myself on PS4, on pc, and on switch, and while nobody really plays it on switch, it's absolutely fantastic to be able to play Switch on the go, just link up your hotspot on your phone and play anywhere!

It's NOT recommended to play split screen with just your joycons, so what I recommend is spending a little money ($20) on an 8bitdo Bluetooth Adapter, so that you can simply connect your PS4 controller rather than buying a wireless Pro controller.

One adapter connects one controller, then you can split screen with a pair of joycons and a PS4 controller!

If you want some friends, I've got it on switch, so feel free to send me a DM and I'll give you my switch code!

I had the same problem and it was driving me nuts. My 2017 shield is in a media cabinet behind the wall that my TV hangs on. Since my Xbox sits in the same cabinet and didn't exhibit any Bluetooth issues I was quite confused.

Upon further research, I guess the Bluetooth chip in the Shield is somewhat underpowered and can have range/interference issues.

I picked up an 8Bitdo dongle off of Amazon, updated the Xbox controller, updated the new dongle, synced everything and the problem vanished.

I've never tested with one of these TVs but my guess is it's a system limitation. Xbox One S behaves differently in Bluetooth mode than in USB mode, which means its needs a different driver that probably isn't installed or needs to be updated.

Xbox One S hasn't worked very well on Linux until fairly recently. Both your Android phone and Samsung TV run Linux-based OSes which means they should use similar gamepad drivers. Probably your phone is running a newer version of the Linux kernel that's already been patched to work better with Xbox One S, which is why you see the correct buttons in the Android app but the TV gets it wrong.

As a workaround you can get an adapter that makes your Xbox One S look like a compatible USB gamepad. I can't personally vouch for it, but I've heard good things about the 8bitdo adapter:

That's one perfect reply! Thank you very much for this.

I guess I have better chances with the PC module for my raspberry but what's your take on that?

Also, is it working via Bluetooth or solely via USB cable? I've seen some posts regarding a Bluetooth approach, is that different? If that's the case, a combination of the PCB and a https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Bluetooth-Adapter-Nintendo-Switch-Raspberry/dp/B0786JC6VW/ref=sr_1_2?m=A2UWVAXOHJ0A2X&marketplaceID=ATVPDKIKX0DER would do the trick?

I'm responding because some of the comments are incorrect or imply it has a single purpose.

>And my question is, what is it for?

From the product page: > * For use with Xbox One S/x Bluetooth Controller, PS4, PS3, Wii Mote, Wii U Pro wirelessly on Nintendo Switch. Support DS4 motion and rumble features. > * For use with 8Bitdo controllers, Nintendo Switch Pro, Nintendo Switch Joy-Con, PS4, PS3, Wii Mote, Wii U Pro and more, wirelessly, on Windows PCs, Macs, Raspberry Pi, laptops, tablets

The first bullet point is showing that it can connect a variety of controllers to the Nintendo Switch. The second bullet point is showing that it can work like a Bluetooth receiver, and allow controllers to connect to PC, Macs, Raspberry Pi (Android), etc... Pretty much anything that allows a USB controller to be plugged in.

The device emulates a wired controller, you choose what type of controller by setting the mode. It is not a typical Bluetooth dongle, as it only allows a single controller to connect and it passes those inputs through as whatever controller type you said to emulate. So if you connect the dongle to your PC, you could connect a Wiimote and tell the dongle to pretend is an Xbox controller, and the result would be the PC acting like an Xbox controller is connected. If you want more than one controller connected, you need multiple adapters.

If you're using an 8BitDo product, it will connect to most systems without the use of the dongle.

>I mean doesn't the controller have bluetooth on itself?

Yes. The controller has Bluetooth.

>I'm planning in using it with my nintendo switch, my pc and my phone (galaxy s7) do i also need to buy the adapter or can i just buy the controller and call it a day?

You can just buy the controller and call it a day, if your PC has Bluetooth (or a Bluetooth dongle).

You would need an adapter.

Either a Mayflash Magic-NS or an 8bitdo adapter.

r/GamingLaptops • comment

You would need an adapter like this. It translates the Bluetooth commands from the DS4 into XInput, which allows Windows to think it's an Xbox controller.

The game has minimal graphical differences between the 2 ports outside of resolution upscaling docked and undocked. If the game doesnt hold your interest on switch, I dont think another platform will fix that issues. If its strictly a controller related concern you should just buy an 8bitdo adapter so you can use any xbox or ps4 controller on the switch.

If you want that feature badly enough, I’ve heard thisthis can make it happen. Plug the adapter into your Switch dock, pair the controller with the adapter instead of the switch, and voila, the home button can wake it from sleep.

No personal experience with this adapter, I only heard it online from other users.
