Well there's always a 24" for $150. 24" is the ideal size for 1080p anyway. 27" is for 1440p. I have both in front of me and love them both equally.

This is a 144hz 24 inch display. According to the info it says they have a zero-dead-pixel tolerance so they’ll always make sure to send a replacement if that occurs. They also said they have a 3 year warranty on them so that’s a plus. https://www.amazon.com/Viotek-109013NH-Ultra-Thin-G-Sync-Compatible-Zero-Tolerance/dp/B07XD6HJPP/ref=mp_s_a_1_2_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=viotek+144hz+monitor&qid=1604362240&sprefix=viotek+1&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEyWktaTk9CVUpVQkRaJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNDMzNTA3TE5DMVJUNFROOEpWJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTA2MDA4NzEzTUlBUDA4SjlOMVVHJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfcGhvbmVfc2VhcmNoX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=

I already bought it, it's listed as 144hz but reviews say it's really 120hz which I'm fine with because I've been a console gamer all my life lol.

Edit: I got it on sale for 140$ I didn't pay the full 200$

Yeeeeah I’ve got G.A.S. (Gear acquisition syndrome) haha. Thank you! I try to build what I can (desk, shelves, acoustic treatment) myself so I can use the money I save on audio gear. I have some guitars on the wall to the right that are my true prized possessions. But now it’s time to invest in a PC!

Ultra wide is tempting but I’m clueless. I did some reading and I think I’m going to settle on a 24” 144hz monitor, but possibly get two because I like to see the separate edit and mix windows in Pro Tools at the same time. I can do that now with this Samsung but it can get cluttered really quick depending on how many tracks I’m working with.

Edit: I’m about to do some searching for an ultra widescreen. I found this cheap 24” though that may work well enough with a double screen set up.

If your budget allows look for a used GTX 1070. I just picked one up on eBay for $155. Much better performance then a 580. They usually go for $170-$200 but sometimes you can snag a deal.

Also this is a pretty good monitor that is G-sync compatible with 10 series Nvidia cards.

If you are going with a 3080: you need a higher refresh rate monitor.

For $10 less you step up to 144Hz (but step down to 1080P).

On a 24" screen I think 1080 is fine but many people would disagree (start the nerd rage now).

At 24" I would personally take high refresh over 1440.https://www.amazon.com/Viotek-109013NH-Ultra-Thin-G-Sync-Compatible-Zero-Tolerance/dp/B07XD6HJPP/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=gn24c&qid=1599150256&sr=8-1

If you were going 27-32" I would take 1440 over higher refresh rates (27" is my 1080P "line")

Unfortunately nothing under $100 is going to give you a very fun gaming experience.

With your PC, you can easily handle 144fps gaming at 1080p, so that's what you should aim for.

There are some really nice VA panels that go for 140-160 that will have better contrast than some of the best gaming monitors on the market in exchange for some slower response times. IPS will cost you a bit more and it will be slightly faster than the VA with less smearing of colors (especially black), but you will have to deal with worse contrast and backlight bleeding.

If you play mostly competitive eSports games then skip both of these and go for a TN panel.

In general regardless of which panel type you choose your looking at 150-200 as your ideal price range for your system. If you can't afford that now I'd just save up a little longer and use whatever you have around the house instead of spending less than 100 on what will inevitably be a pretty bad monitor.

you can ask me any questions

the case is here

the cable extensions are optional but it will look good, be easier to cable manage, and you can pick out what color you want.

i tried to find you a good monitor but no good 144hz g sync monitor is in stock

this one i always recommend, it costs 200 but has very high demand

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/pxPdhg Sorry to push the budget but if youd rather cut a bit back on the monitor there is a decent viotek monitor for 140 right now on amazon, I just this monitor is a good value for good quality. (the viotek has good reviews though) https://www.amazon.com/Viotek-109013NH-Ultra-Thin-G-Sync-Compatible-Zero-Tolerance/dp/B07XD6HJPP/ref=sr_1_6?dchild=1&keywords=viotek&qid=1593824820&s=electronics&sr=1-6

You can run without a full windows key for free with a small watermark or you can get a key from this website king uin .net but put it all together in your browser, a 1st party windows key will eat 1/10th your budget.

Welcome! See if one of these current favorites is what you're looking for:

1080p 144hz -

» Acer Nitro VG240Y or Acer Nitro XV240Y - Same price, just different stands. Freesync. The XV240Y OC's to 165hz. IPS panels

» AOC C24G1 - VA, but a good budget option. Not best for fast paced gaming but usually can be found on good sales.

» Asus TUF VG259QM - 25" and 280hz so it's perfect for competitive gaming.

» VIOTEK GFV24C - Great design and thin bezel. VA and a great budget option for 144hz 1080p.

1440p 144hz

» Acer Nitro XV272U - IPS, Considered to be the best budget monitor in this category

» LG 27GL83A-B - IPS, - Reddit favorite mid-range monitor. Contrast is only weak point.

» Dell S2721DGF - IPS, 1440p, 165hz, Freesync - Higher end but built on a great legacy.

Ultrawide 1440p 144hz

» LG 34GP83-AB - IPS, 3rd generation of what is considered to be top of the line ultrawide monitors.

» LG 34GK950F-B - IPS, older version of the 34GP83-AB but a little cheaper.
