How does this compare to the ViewSonic IPS @ $299 and the Lenovo Legion @ $399?

The Lenovo is definitely the best but from a value standpoint, I'm deciding between these 3 monitors.

I've been looking at IPS 144hz 1440p monitors all weekend.

I only found one so far: https://www.amazon.com/ViewSonic-VX2758-2KP-MHD-Frameless-FreeSync-DisplayPort/dp/B07VJJXDBX?th=1

I bought this one a few weeks ago and I adore it so far. It was only 300 USD and does 1440p 144hz. I was coming from a cheap little 23 inch Asus VA monitor, so anything was gonna seem like a massive improvement, but i have zero problems with it as of now.

Viewsonic VX2758-2KP-MHD for $320 is the go-to budget IPS 1440p 144hz these days.

> Cheapest, G-Sync

Pick one. The only benefit of G-Sync is variable overdrive which is not necessary on the Viewsonic as its 'advanced' overdrive setting behaves fine at lower refresh rates.

Excellent screen. It's 144Hz, 1440P, 27Inch IPS Panel. Only bad thing about is the stand isn't that great.

If you can wait it out, I'd definitely put an order on the LG 27GL83A-B and hope Amazon sends you one soon. I put an order for the 27GL83A-B last Friday and it arrived on Tuesday, two weeks ahead of schedule. Linus Tech Tips covered the LG 27GL850 and highly recommended it. The LG 27GL83A-B is the cheaper version of the LG 27GL850...

Paying for G-Sync hikes up the price of monitors by up to $150-$200 extra. From the light research that I've done, AMD's FreeSync technology is good enough for most people and is compatible with NVIDIA's cards.

I can't give monitor recommendations since that's not my expertise but the other monitor I had been eyeing was the ViewSonic VX2758-2KP-MHD This monitor was on my wish list up until I discovered the LG GL2783A-B. It had all the features I was looking for.

Alternatively, if you don't want a 31.5" as above, get https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VJJXDBX?pf_rd_p=ab873d20-a0ca-439b-ac45-cd78f07a84d8&pf_rd_r=ZTSJ5F4RS33360RWHRTQ

which is a downgrade to 27inch, but upgrade to IPS panel and better response time for $20 more.

Yeah it's discontinued. I found this one: ViewSonic VX2758-2KP-MHD. It's IPS but it has 1ms response time. I'm not very well versed with monitors so I'm not sure if there's something wrong with it, although maybe not since it's $100 more expensive.

You should definitely get a 1440p monitor. The 5700 XT is a 1440p beast. This is what I recommend as my personal best bang for your buck monitor:

ViewSonic VX2758-2KP-MHD 27 Inch Frameless WQHD 1440p 144Hz 1ms IPS Gaming Monitor with FreeSync Eye Care HDMI and DisplayPort https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VJJXDBX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Fv3KEbP9EZZAJ

Unfortunately, because of the Covid19 crises, it doesn’t seem available on Amazon when I got it for $300 and I’ve seen it as low as about $280. But from other sellers it may be available. Do not spend over $330 for this monitor.

144hz ips panels aren't that expensive these days unless you specifically want the ones with gsync. Here's one that is usually around the $300 mark. Gsync compatible as well. No need to get the top of the line stuff. I'd say that the gsync compatible monitors are more versatile these days as they work with both platforms, whereas gsync monitors only work with Nvidia.

At that price, I would go for the Viewsonic VX2758-2KP-MHD.

ViewSonic VX2758-2KP-MHD

  • Doesn't matter if you have an Nvidia card. it can use Freesync or G-sync

  • On the graphics card.

and btw, 1660S is really suited for 1440p 144hz gaming, unless you're planning on upgrading down the line.

Can I ask why a VA? Even though it will claim 1 ms response time, it generally is doing some wonky stuff to hit that (extreme overdrive with crazy ghosting), and you wouldn't want to run the monitor that way.

My personal opinion is to consider an IPS panel that claims 1ms response time. Again, it is gonna do some of the same wonky stuff as the VA panel to reach the 1 ms claim, but overall it is going to be faster response times without trying to reach 1 ms nor is the wonkiness going to be as severe. It will also have truer colors than a VA panel.

I would have personally suggested the LG27GL83A-B, though it seems to be out of stock everywhere along with its slightly more expensive brother the LG27GL850-B. A good second option is the Viewsonic VX2758-2KP-MHD. Plus, it is cheaper than the VA panel you picked. All of these monitors are ones I had considered getting my wife, till she decided she preferred dual 24" to 27".

Most people greatly overestimate the amount of wattage they need, or get too fixated on trying to hit their PSU's efficiency "sweet spot", even though it might save them $5/year at most. The 2080 Super pulls around 250w, and the 10600k around 100-150w, and the rest of the system pulls a small fraction of that. You could use a good 550W PSU and be just fine, 650w gives you some headroom for upgrades.

I'd recommend the ViewSonic VX2758-2KP-MHD, but here's a good overview of 1440p/144hz+ monitors:

The AOC 24G2 seems to be the best balanced 1080p monitor (good colors, good response times, etc) for a great 1080p experience.

If you want 1440p, the Viewsonic VX2757-2KP-MHD is also a good choice.

I'd highly recommend a freesync monitor at 144hz, mainly because some games will not run at 144fps, even with an I9 9900k.

Get this instead. It's got an IPS panel and you are not likely to notice the 11hz. Also cheaper.

Edit: Only 1 left so if it runs out get this. Costs more but the IPS panel is gonna look leagues better.

Appreciate the reply!

I think 32in would be too big for me personally, I think a monitor that large would really detract from FPS in that you have alot of screen to cover with your eyes. And from my quick search, the Omen isnt an IPS or 144hz and 1440p at 32in is only a side-grade in terms of pixel density.

I've started to lean towards the https://www.amazon.com/ViewSonic-VX2758-2KP-MHD-Frameless-FreeSync-DisplayPort/dp/B07VJJXDBX as it compares favorably to the LG monitor which is considered one of the best in this segment. Theres also reviews of the Acer having QC problems. Any thoughts on it?
