I use this one it’s honestly way over kill for my setup but I wanted to be sure.

One option would be to buy or make an airbrush booth with a filter. Also "home grow" equipment has made some things cheap -- you can get a nice carbon filter, ducting and fans to really clean the air. I bought one for smelly resin 3d printer but I printed a Y adapter on my regular 3d printer and I'm going to make an airbrush booth with the usual furnace filter but then have it exhaust through the carbon filter. This is the kind of thing I'm talking about:

For those of us in cold areas, sometimes have to go to extreme measures to keep the hobbies going during the winter.

Thanks! The smell isn't noticeable when the tent is closed. I have the tent located in the closet in my bedroom and it vents into the bedroom, and my wife hasn't complained about a smell. I've been using this filter.

If you want a cheap carbon filter, check out items designed for "indoor grow hobbyist" or hydroponics. I got a decent sized (7lbs ish) one for $35usd on Amazon.
For reference, this is the one I bought: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DXYMBU6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_MGWNFbTJBJHK9?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I doubt CPU/computer fans will pull any air if there's an actual filter involved (their airflow drops quickly with even minimal restriction/resistance).

For your V2, look for a filter with charcoal that will do more to make the air feel fresh than physical filtering alone. Something like this one.
You'll find a lot of the stuff marketed toward grow rooms now, but it will work to filter and purify any air.
1 points • herb_lady
Absolutely. We bought this one from Amazon and it was worth every penny. Our grow is currently in the flowering stage, so the buds are very potent when you unzip the tent. When tent is closed, the filter eliminates the smell, even with the vent flaps open at the bottom.

push the exhaust/smoke through a filter. https://www.amazon.com/VIVOSUN-Australia-Charcoal-Pre-filter-Reversible/dp/B01DXYMBU6/

If you scroll down it suggests a "frequently bought with" combo. I'd get the fan too. You can use the flexible hose duct as a sploof to blow your hits into.

Hey there! Former Weed grower here (well, grower, distributor, baseball bat to the knees if you don't pay up kind of guy) and have been saved from my previous life through the love of Jesus.
I was on the other end of this. When I was younger, I lived with some housemates and was growing a ton of weed. The house absolutely stunk, the carpets reeked, the weed smell was coming through the vents, and this caused tremendous strain on my roomates who weren't fond of weed at all. My god, my idol was weed and that is all I would think about.
Now, God says, as others have pointed out, to not be full of drunkeness. To have a sober and sound mind. Can someone have a glass of wine? Sure. Can someone have a puff of a vape to calm their nerves? Sure. However, there is a fine line that is easy to cross (especially with weed) where you go from just right to way overboard.
In the book of Romans, Paul states " It is good not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything that causes your brother to stumble." I don't know if your parents are Christians, but this is definitely a situation where their use of weed is impacting you.
Now, my friend, as to not cause strain in your relationship with your parents, remember all you say and do must be said with love. Instead of condemning your parents, or telling them off for their sin, approach the situation with tact. They are your parents, you will hopefully have at least another 2 years to spend with them, the time for preaching God's love with come naturally through your everyday interaction with them. You health is important however, so I would address the issue in this way:
"Hey mom/dad, I love you guys and appreciate ya. I am having trouble sleeping and concentrating with the weed smell around the house. Would it be ok if you smoked outside or in the bathroom?" Simple as that, no need to be preachy, especially with their state of mind as they may not be as receptive. Just show love, show them you care about them, and that this is impacting your well being. Offer a simple solution (i.e. go smoke outside) and leave it at that for now. In the meantime, come to God in prayer and ask that he takes away their need to smoke, ask that God send Christian friends into their life to minister to them and love on them too, and ask that God's love covers your household during this time, while you trust that he will finish the good work he started with Jesus death on the cross. He didn't just die for you and me, he died for your parents too, so that they can be saved. They may just not realize it yet :)
In the meantime, I don't know your financial situation, but a carbon filter WORKS WONDERS. I used them when I started expanding my growing operations to keep completely scrub weed smell away, so the cops wouldn't know what I was up to. Here is a link to a super cheap $35 filter. All you do is plug it in, make sure air can enter in on either side and within 5 minutes you will have the cleanest air you have smelled in a while. There are also models that come with a controller that lowers the fan speed to make it more quiet, but this link should be a good place to start exploring: https://www.amazon.com/VIVOSUN-Australia-Charcoal-Pre-filter-Reversible/dp/B01DXYMBU6/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=carbon+filter&qid=1587280351&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzUU01S0kyVVNaSVVJJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMjE2NTU3RVQ2OEpaUEFWQVZMJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTA0NjA4OTlUT1RWS1c4Wk9ZUFEmd2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGYmYWN0aW9uPWNsaWNrUmVkaXJlY3QmZG9Ob3RMb2dDbGljaz10cnVl
Hope this helps my friend!
I've been there, please feel free to reach out anytime. You are loved, you and your family will get through this, and by the grace of God I pray you find you and your family blessed beyond belief in the coming days.
Take care!

sorrrrta.... my setup for when i open my tent is:
one of these
attached to one of these
I'll just plug it in outside the tent and it does a good job of dissipating the smell and i dont need to vent it to the outside.
With that said, i dont know what your relationship is like with your dad, but your plant is only gonna get smellier and i can practically guarantee he's gonna find out you're growing lol. Better start coming up with an explanation or a contingency plan now. (im assuming you live at home. if you live on your own, then whatever -- he'll come around to it.)

Ac infinity fans are quiet and seem to be well regarded by most. As soon as you put a filter and bends in your exhaust tubing, your air flow drops. There are formulas out there for the amount of bends and filter loss but I think the filter drops your air flow by 25-30%.
Forthat size tent I would look into a 4” fan setup.

The smell isn't too bad, but the plant isn't producing buds yet. Once it does it'll start to smell a whole lot.
Not really an issue for me since I live in a legal state, but there are 4" carbon filters people put at the end of their fans to control the smell.
Usually something like this: https://www.amazon.com/VIVOSUN-Australia-Charcoal-Pre-filter-Reversible/dp/B01DXYMBU6

The filter in the picture is on the 4" intake duct and is this Vivosun product: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DXYMBU6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
On the exhaust I have a 6"fan and carbon filter also from Vivosun: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01NA07G79/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
That said, I'm probably going to switch the 4" intake to a 6" intake fan and will be going with the AC Infinity Cloudline T6

Sorry i'm a little bit late !
I don't know where you live so, i could not recommend you a specific one, but find something like this one ( a cheaper one)
and an air extractor like this one (watch out for the plug, fo some of theme you need to buy a wire separately)
plus an air ducting thing and you are good to go
1 points • pollywog
Something like that would work just fine. I personally like most of the vivosun products for budget-friendly items. I would look at this as an alternative if it is within your range where you live.

The speed controller is built into the power cable for the fan. You'll be fine either way.

It works really well and it's nice that it has the screen and humidity and temp control but you could probably get away with using the S4. It's cheaper but just has a manual controller. I probably would have gone with this one if it was in stock at the time. I'm growing in a room that requires no alterations to temp or humidity though.

Edit: I also went with this carbon filter. It was the cheapest one with decent ratings. Any 4 inch duct filter will fit.
1 points • ApparitionalBedwear
These are all in CAD so if you're a yank, it should be hundreds cheaper.
I used to spend $200-$350 a month on medical cannabis. I spent $400 on a light (mars hydro tsl 2000) and a $120 grow tent off Amazon. Add another $160 for a single inline fan with 10' of ducting and a carbon filter and that was literally all I had to buy to get started since I had access to seeds and soil and pots already.
$680 for a tent that now regularly produces 1lb every 90-120 days. Say it takes 4 months to grow and I only spent $200 a month on cannabis during that time. I've already spent MORE on cannabis in that time then I did on my grow setup. It's actually kinda crazy how much money I save now and how much it has improved my quality of life not spending so damn much per year on cannabis with my already very limited budget. I was lucky I was able to spend that money, I definitely had to make some sacrifices but it's been so worth it!
I HIGHLY recommend getting a tent and growing year round indoors. It is great for my mental health in the winter when it gets dark and cold up here for months and months and months. Just being able to trim some vigorously green plants is good for the soul!

Look for a 2 x 4 tent (24" x 48") seems I can't find any in stock right now to get a price.
These prices are in freedom units:
Light (with timer and hygrometer) $270 Tent: $80-$100 Fan: $120 Carbon filter: $35
Total: $525
That's $525 that will actually save you thousands if you are a chronic. Unlike a ps5 haha

I actually trust wirecutter for honest reviews of stuff like this. They did a review on purifiers and this is the latest: https://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-air-purifier/ . We have 2 of the Coway units and they work great -- even though I ran the second one for a month while not realizing I had forgotten to take the charcoal filter out of the protective plastic bag!
If I was doing a DIY thing to remove smell from my basement I'd look at all the stuff that people use to control odor in their grow rooms. There are tons of cheap air handlers/fans that can be linked via standard tube or ducts to giant cans of charcoal. Stuff like this:
https://www.amazon.com/VIVOSUN-Australia-Charcoal-Pre-Filter-Reversible/dp/B01DXYMBU6/ -- I use two of these in my boston basement grow and they work fine except for when I'm trimming and the whole house stinks. I'm thinking of getting another filter can and fan combo and just setting them up on the floor of my basement when trimming. The other systems are built into the veg and grow room so they don't help after the smell leaks out

I really can't smell much of anything, amazingly. My wife has the nose of a bloodhound and hasn't noticed anything when in the next room, so that is also a good sign.
I used the adaptor to run a 4" duct to a fan (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M7S46YZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1), to another 4" duct to this filter: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DXYMBU6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I keep the fan running when printing. I've got a small Levoit purifier but really only run it when curing (even that really doesn't have much of a smell - the alcohol has the strongest odor of anything I'm using).

Here's the Amazon component list:
Mid grade (MERV 8) particle filters
13-1/2"×7-1/4" Dust collector hood
When I built this I already had a number of these things on hand. Even so, building one from scratch with similar components as above would be dramatically less than buying any comparable commercial filter.

For the budget sensitive or DIY inclined:
1-- A box fan with a good furnace filter duct taped to it does wonders. I've done this for years and it can move much more air than most. MERV 11-16 filter for filtering smoke to virii.

2- Take a hint from the indoor cannabis growers (and their cheap surplus market) Cylindrical duct based charcoal filters are incredible. You could have a smoking section in a room in your house and if one of those is on you probably wouldn't notice it by the next hour or day. Wrap it in MERV 11 to MERV 16 filter and you've got an amazing smoke and virus filter.
The charcoal is replaceable and a consumable. Blows away (sucks?) any consumer product.

3- To really knock the smoke smell out of clothes, or frankly nearly any smell (like shoes that got funky from the beach) etc. get a real ozone generator. Don't pay more than $75. This is what hotels use when someone broke the no smoking policy. Everything will smell like fresh thunderstorm. You'll need to pick this off of ebay as there are some silly restrictions for direct purchase in Cali. This does so much more than an ion generator- though it also does generate ions. For proper use, ventilate the area and don't be in the area when using. o3 can be irritating but breaks down very quickly-- however while it shatters the molecules making stinky stuff it can make some unpleasent/unhealthy chemicals that don't smell. So those need to go out of the space and diluted and ventilated. o3 is heavier than most air so use a fan to spread it and/or place it up high. An hour of an o3 generator in a clothes closet does wonders. I use mine to help disinfect masks and packages as well. Knocks out that funky mask breath for non-washables.

VIDEO TUTORIAL I FOLLOWED: https://youtu.be/1Bgn0VDIR8w
This thing is a true beast. I did make a few changes from the video.
For the light, I am going to run 300W Viparspectra full spec LED instead of 600W, just for my own grow purposes. As for the fans, I put one slightly higher up intentionally, to give a little more push and air circulation from different angles.
I used damn metal shears to cut my squares, so they aren’t perfect or pretty, and I did have to use some tape...lol, but we got there!
I HAD to go ahead and build this and get it ready today. For some reason, the space bucket I have bragged about so much on this sub from Professor Hack turned into a humidity PRISON, causing the RH to spike from 45% (perfect for this girl’s flowering), up to 71, even at one moment, 81%. No clue why. She seems MUCH happier here!! SPACE TOTES RULE! This is my first grow and I’m having so much fun lmao.
Btw YES! I absolutely plan to run two 2 gallon pots in this one next go around :) I have some amazing genetics from Mephisto to try out:
*3x Alien vs Triangle X 3 Bears OG
*1x Sour Stomper
*1x Forum Stomper
I kinda wanna run the Stomper twins side by side...

Does this build look sufficient for my first grow?
I want to grow some Purple Queen and Bubba Kush in a low profile, small grow space, here is what iv got so far.
Environment:
Tent
AirFlow:
Intake fan Outtake fan carbon filter
Do I need an intake fan controller? if so I found this one
Pot: fabric pot But I cant decide on size, i want to grow 2-3 plants and give them decent space for roots. Seed starter soil (also im going to start them in small ceramic pots then move them to full bucket) Base Soil Nutrient Compost for semi-super soil
Lighting: 2-3 (one for each plant) Flood lights I got these based off SAG's guide (still looking for the right fixture and controller for these) Extra red/blue light LED Strips
If there is anything else im missing please let me know, and if there is any suggestions please send them my way!
