Use this and boom, you have a competent USB DAC/amp for cheap.

My mobo doesn’t have a USB-C connection. Is it okay to use this instead to connect/charge the keyboard?

I used this adapter to setup the YubiKey 5C that I carry around as a backup on my keychain. It's all just USB, there's nothing special, so form-factor adapters will work just fine.

That’s an idiotic move by Razer. USB-C on motherboards is used for 10Gbps USB3. There’s NO WAY a keyboard needs that bandwidth.

Get an adapter. https://www.amazon.com/Upgraded-Basesailor-Compatible-Chargers-Standard/dp/B079LYHNSR/ref=asc_df_B079LYHNSR/

They already sell adapters. So if you have a usb c only device or wire then you can get a usb-a to usb-c. No biggie they're only like 5 bucks each. With time they'll make them better.

Nothing a $5 adapter won't fix. I have one of these at the office to connect to my 12w iPad charger and it works great.

It depends on your PC. Many now have a single USB C port in the back so you can just plug it straight in. If not you need a USB-C to USB-A adapter. One might look like this:

Ya I found the adapter you linked but nothing going the opposite direction. I have been able to find a USB C Female to USB Male adapter though. Would that not work?

Could always try something like a USB Type C to Type A converter and see if that works; I can't guarantee it would work, though!

Nah, I was asking about something like this just to make sure such an adapter wouldn't compromise the sound quality. Logically it shouldn't, since it's digital and other DACs also use USB-A, but I just don't want to jump to conclusions. I wouldn't be using it for portable but for plugging into the back of my PC as the official headphone DAC.

Out of curiosity, why do you recommend the Modius over something like the Sanskrit Mk10 V2? Features/build? Or does it sound different to your ear?

You could try using an RCA to USB adapter. Then plug in the usb to usb-c?

I have the same headphones and just used this to plug into the front of my PS4 instead of the long ass usb cord included in the box. I contacted SteelSeries to make sure it didn’t need to be USB 3.0 or anything. But I think something like this may work. Then just plug your usb/usb-c connector and see if it works. Idk about the quality, but your best bet is to go to an audio store in your area. Not like a bestbuy, but a store aimed at musicians and such. You could also go down or a music store and see if they can help.

Oculus link cable not working

I sprang for the official Oculus Link cable - tried it today and it doesn't work. It's possible that the problem is the UBC C to A adopter I'm using - my gaming PC doesn't have any USB C ports, only full size USB ports. When I plug the cable in, nothing happens - Oculus on my PC doesn't see it at all.

This is the adopter I'm using: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079LYHNSR/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. Does anyone know of a C to A adopter that's known to work?

Meanwhile, I know that everything else is good because the 26 foot cable that I pieced together still works find (see my post at: https://www.reddit.com/r/OculusQuest/comments/ea0hdd/quest_link_with_26_foot_cable/)

For that adapter I am not sure. On the Yubico forums people trie dthe Lightning to USB Camera Adapter for the iPad for their iPhone and it did not work as they had hoped. https://forum.yubico.com/viewtopic078c.html?p=5096

So using https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MD821AM/A/lightning-to-usb-camera-adapter ... I haven't bought this but it looks eh like it might work https://www.amazon.com/Upgraded-Basesailor-Compatible-Chargers-Standard/dp/B079LYHNSR and then you plug that into the Lightning to USB Camera Adapter and then plug in your 5CMini or NFC

As you'll want a second key it's not a bad idea to get a 5NFC and a 5CNFC perhaps and then with those cables and adapter you can support both.

The device you linked uses USB-C to connect. USB-C has only one size. It is not considered "mini." You can get a USB-C to USB-A adapter, though.

You are correct, that compared to USB Type-A connectors, the USB Type-C connector is small. However, it makes no difference in that you can use either connector to connect that device to a PC. However, again though, that means you can plug that device into a computer from before 2005 with a USB 2.0 Type-A connection and it will only run at USB 2.0 speeds, and other parts of it will not function at all. In fact, the power capability/revision might be too little and it might not function at all.

USB standards are confusing. I think there has been an effort made to clean them up, make them make more sense in their naming, etc., but even if so, the older specs still apply to technology that is still in use today.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB_hardware

There are 2 aspects of USB to consider:

  1. The version of USB it is, which affects the speed, power, and other capabilities of the connection

For example, USB 2.0, USB 3.0, USB 3.2

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB

  1. The type of USB connector, which specifies the physical connection, and each of the variety of connector types are designed to carry/transmit different versions of USB.

For example, Type A, Type B, Type B-mini, Type B-micro (aka "micro-USB"), Type-C, Type-C PD, Type A 3.0, Type A 3.0 SS (SuperSpeed), Type A 3.1, Gen 2 / SS, etc...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB_hardware

I recommend seeing the connector compatibility chart and the version of USB that each connector type or cable can be used for in the second chart below it, (both on the Wikipedia page for USB hardware).

Edit:

The device you bought has a USB 3.0 (possibly higher) connection using a USB Type-C connector.

USB Type-C is the new standard. All others, such as the one you're used to (USB Type-A) are being depracated and will soon no longer be used, and will all be replaced with USB-C connectors. There will probably still be a few remaining for some time, so people can still plug in their compatible, older devices, but there will be more and more computers and other devices that only have USB-C jacks, and will require an adapter or hub to use devices with USB Type-A plugs.
