I do! I actually spent a ton of time researching KVM switches but I ended up finding an easier and cheaper solution. I use a USB switch. I have my keyboard, mouse and speakers connected to it. Speaker cable is a single stereo out so I got a stereo to USB adapter.
When I’m done with work, I click the button on my USB switch and everything switches over to my personal PC. The only thing I have to do is change the input on my monitors. This is the USB switch I got.

I have 2 USB switches that I use. One is for my headphones and one is for my keyboard/mouse.

I use this one:
I just press a button and I can keep using my keyboard+mouse on my second computer.

This already exists as a product btw, supporting USB 3 speeds:

Get a USB Switch like this. My work laptop is always on a VPN and my Gaming pc is not so Flow or similar s/w do not work. This switch however lets me move all peripherals with a one button press.

Usually a KVM switch gets recommended, but if you don't need the video part, then a USB switch/peripheral switch will help you out.
Like this one. This is just the first one that came up, I don't know how good this particular model is.

Unless they use thunderbolt, AFAIK usb c is just a shape, not a protocol. You should be a able use a switch like this and then get some USB A to C adapters.
1 points • Thx_And_Bye
It's called a KVM. There are even some without the "V" or Video part:

I have this. Works amazingly :) no latency, too. I have a regular Apple AC to USB-A adapter connected to it to give it power, as it takes an optional 5 watts of power. I recommend the extra power if you’re using a wired RGB keyboard.

Look for a monitor that supports Picture-by-Picture (PBP). That will display two video inputs at once side-by-side with the option (of course) of showing just one or the other input at a time.
I solved the keyboard / mouse problem using a cheap USB A/B switch. It's like a USB hub that connects to two computers. The keyboard/mouse plug into that and then a switch on the USB A/B switch picks which computer can use them.
For example, this UGREEN USB Switch.

I’m not sure exactly the use case you’re explaining, but maybe this thing does what you want it to?

I'm sure someone will have a more elegant solution, but I'm in a similar situation (gaming pc and WFH macbook pro). What I did was buy a usb switch selector for my mouse + keyboard, then just tap a buttom to swap inputs between my computers.
I didn't do anything special in regards to the monitors though. I just change my input from displayport (gaming pc) to hdmi (macbook pro) on one monitor when I sit down to work. I only use one of my two monitors to extend the screen of the MBP. The other I keep on gaming PC (for netflix or twitch or whatever while I work) and use the usb switch to bounce between which computer I control.

Are you talking about the same time? No, you can't share a USB simultaneously with two computers as far as I'm aware. However, switching should be possible. Lemme see if I can find you a USB switch if such a thing exists (it should).
Edit:. Oof they're pricey.

Might be cheaper to buy a second camera

Thanks for the reply. Can you clarify? This is my KVM switch. It connects to both my PC and my xbox with USB 2.0 A to A data cables. It also has a power supply so I have that plugged in as well.
1 points • janhkolbe
I have a monitor with a built in KVM switch. My laptop connects via USB-C so one cable for everything and my PC via Displayport and a regular USB cable. All my peripherals are connected to the monitor so it switches seamlessly when I switch the input source on the monitor. You can buy standalone KVM switches or just a USB switch if you're okay with switching usb and the monitor input separately.
I used this one before and it worked really nicely: https://www.amazon.com/UGREEN-Selector-Computers-Peripheral-One-Button/dp/B01MXXQKGM/
Edit: if both your home computer and the MacBook have USB-C/thunderbolt 3 ports, a thunderbolt dock would make the switch easier by connecting everything to it and just plug one cable to either notebook.

Hey theHeartlessVoid, do you also use a USB switch like this one? I've been racking my brains about this and considering that maybe there's a driver issue or something?
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MXXQKGM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I've been doing a lot of testing on my end to try to figure out this problem and nothing seems to have worked so far.
I've monitored my CPU, memory, and GPU during a freeze and they all seemed okay.
Did a very comprehensive disk check and they all looked good.
Reseated my GPU.
Switched Camtasia to Software Only mode.
Deleted the 20.0 folder in my registry and ensured Camtasia was up to date.
Tried Camtasia 2019 and got the EXACT same issue.
Techsmith support wants me to get my installation and files all on one drive, which I still need to do, but I personally don't think that's the problem.

I use Display port for my PC and leave the HDMI plugged into my USB-C hub like yours, then I change the input on the monitor when I need to switch. Then, I use a USB hub for keyboard, mouse, mic, & webcam like one of these and I keep one side plugged into the USB-C hub and the other in the desktop.
(Note: if you need USB 3.0 throughput, you'll need a more expensive switch, but for a mouse & keyboard you should be good.)

Great video! The only constructive criticism I would have is to clean up the cables hanging under your desk. I have a standing desk too - and you can kinda cheat for this. Just plug in a power strip and put it in a rack under your desk. From there you can plug all of your stuff into it - including the desk itself.
If you want to get extra fancy - you can get some of those velcro-style command strips and mount that 2i2 under the desk right at your fingertips. That way you don't have to reach all the way across the desk for it. From there you can also mount a USB hub/switch like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MXXQKGM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 then you plug your peripherals into that and swap systems with a button press rather than messing around with bluetooth settings.

If you need to switch video inputs too, you can just do a search for KVM switch.

This is the one that I'm using. I think one of the four input ports may have died at some point, which is fine since I am only plugging two things into it. Other than that it works well. YMMV, etc

You can't use a Y-cable. Most USB devices are not meant to connect to multiple hosts. You need to buy a USB switcher.

I'm using this USB switch and it works great. Just make sure to actually feed it power through the micro USB port. Without it being powered directly it doesn't always work right for me. So then I just press 1 button to swap peripherals and tap the input button on my monitor to swap PCs.

Eventually I want to hide it on the.underside of my desk. I tried Velcro tape but it's not strong enough

This is the USB KVM I use. It's a 4 port USB 2.0 but it's perfect. I attached my Soundblaster Katana, My Arctis 7, My Keyboard and Mouse Receiver and it switches back and forth with zero issues! Only thing I recommend is there is a 5v micro-usb-in this uses for extra power. I have this attached to my outlet USB, I can confirm without the supplemental power it gets glitchy.

DAC/AMPs with multiple USB inputs are kinda rare and usually reserved for high-end stuff (like the Chord Hugo with costs like $4000). I have no idea why manufacturers don't make DAC/AMPs with multiple USB inputs but that's just the way it is.
A simpler solution is to get a USB Switch like this one and then get whatever budget DAC/AMP that you want. With the USB switch you can switch the USB input from your computer to your laptop or vice versa with the push of a button.
1 points • pretendgineer5400
I've been using this one for that exact purpose since August 2018. They have a USB 3 version if you decide you want the higher speed option.

I appreciate you taking the time to reply! They're both 1080x1920!
So I could get something like this since it has the 4 USB ports I need, and stick one in my docking station and the other in my computer?
Then I can instantly switch all my USB between computers?

You get a USB switch which will allow to switch the device being connected from one PC to another. Here's an example

No, a USB hub is for connecting multiple peripherals (A50) to one host (PC or Xbox). What you need is a USB selector switch, which allows sharing one or more peripherals between two hosts - connected to both at once physically, but only one or the other electrically.
USB itself does not allow one peripheral to be used on more than one host simultaneously.
This one is for 4 peripherals, so you could maybe also connect a keyboard and mouse for games that support them on Xbox: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MXXQKGM

You would need a USB switch, but the drive cannot be mounted to both at once:

The first thing I'd recommend is getting a mouse or keyboard that has the capability to store multiple profiles. (I use a keychron k2 and an mx master 3 mouse which is kinda not budget friendly but I promise you, the mouse is the best for productivity)
The second one and the most affordable one would be to get a USB hub it plugs into both computers but it's switchable at the click of a button
This is the most popular one

I have a couple of dual-PC setups and use software (Stardock Multiplicity) to link them as well as a hardware USB switch: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MXXQKGM/
When the mouse is moved to the edge of the screen (besides in certain full-screen apps like games), it appears on the second PC. This causes input lag on the second PC but not the first, and the hardware USB switch doesn't cause lag

Amazon link to Ugreen USB switch. If you're just looking for hardware USB switching, this is one I've used in the past. Can't attest for input lag however, I don't really play too many high speed shooters.
It's $21 US.

You need a USB switch with at least 2 ports (keyboard and mouse) and 2 inputs (i.e. can be connected to one of those two devices at any given time).
If just USB 2.0 (since it's just keyboard and mouse), you can get something like this one.
If you need USB 3.0, you can get this version instead.

it is kind of like a kvm switch but it is a usb hub that can change inputs. I couldn't find many cheap kvm switch options and this basically does the same job. See attached amazon link:

Hi all, probably a simple question but a friend of mine put together together a parts list for me that I intend to use mostly for gaming. However, given that I anticipate working from home for the foreseeable future, I wanted to make my keyboard and monitor setup compatible with my work computer (an HP laptop) and want to be able to switch between the two computers without unplugging stuff. I have a separate wireless mouse for the work computer so that's not an issue. Would an HDMI splitter like this and a USB splitter like this give me what I'm looking for? Is there an easier/cheaper way to do it?
1 points • poxin13
Trying the same OTG Adapaters, didn't work for me using this hub (switch): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MXXQKGM?psc=1
The USB-C to A adapters work fine if it's just a single device plugged in. Hub has worked on Linux and Windows just fine for years. Only having a problem with this 2020 macbook.
