Cool! Well just in case here’s the link for the one I have https://www.amazon.com/dp/B087NKYVL9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_7m7HFb5FQVGTG

It comes with a pulley system and a way to attach it to the ceiling, so you still get the wireless experience. No cords in your way, it’s long as hell, and it’s compatible.

Edit: wack, the price went back up. Was $30

You do not need an oculus branded cable, this is the one I use personally. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B087NKYVL9/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

2: I'll try the default strap, fair enough. I was wondering if there are popular 3rd party straps that should suffice in case the default strap isn't fit for my head.

3: The closest thing to an active cable that I saw was this cable from Amazon, wall cable hangers included. List me some active cables that you trust.

Nothing on the other questions? No worries if not.

Definitely give it a shot. I can link you to the link cable I got which works great and is longer than the charge cable that comes with the Quest. Also, make sure you set your graphics preference to “quality” in the Quest settings on the Oculus PC app, otherwise you won’t by default take advantage of the higher resolution.

Edit: here’s a link to the cable: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B087NKYVL9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_btf_t1_Mt4GFb8BXAKT9

I bought some cheap cable for $30 off Amazon that gives me 2.9gbps and works great. Everybody here is mentioning how well Virtual Desktop works, and I agree with that, with the exception of anything that requires really fast hand movements, like Beat Saber.

If you play Beat Saber over wireless it’s a very frustrating experience. I imagine it was be the same for anything else that requires fast movement, like Audica. The sabers get all rubbery and you’ll miss notes once you need to move your hands fast enough.

This is the one I bought. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B087NKYVL9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_s1jDFbV54H7KW

I'll admit I was nervous buying it since it didn't come from the official Oculus website but I played Elite Dangerous in VR with this on day one and I absolutely loved it and it worked perfectly fine. As someone who started out as a CV-1 rift user I would strongly suggest getting the quest and link cable because it is going to save you space on your motherboard and and play area But then you also have the benefit of the quest itself which is being able to take and play anywhere.

Just asking, is the cable that charges the Quest as long as the Anker cable would be? If so it's long enough. Also curious Does this one work? https://www.amazon.com/Transfer-Amplifier-Compatible-Lightweight-Charging/dp/B087NKYVL9/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=anker+oculus&qid=1597622640&sr=8-5 I know it's more expensive, but it's also really long and would probably work with a pulley system

I used to have the link cable (with quest 1) but i returned it. It wouldn’t always work well and 80 was just too much.

Are you using the official Link cable or a 3rd party? It might be the cable you have. Not that you need to get THIS ONE THAT I HAVE but I can confirm that it works well and as a bonus it comes with some cable management if you want to route the cable to the ceiling and out of your way while you play.

That's usually what I do, I do wireless via hotspot on my laptop and it runs flawless, but I also am using this it works great for games where I need less lag like beatsaber. But after spending that much money on the link cable I can understand wanting it to work.

Mine is 16ft which is about 5 meters, I haven’t compared it against a official one but it works good for me. I paid $30.

What is an optimal speed for Quest 2 Link? I noticed if I connected to my MB USB 3.1 Gen2 port on my Asus MB (ASMedia Controller) I get 1.8Gbbs on multiple tests. If I hook into my 2080Ti USB C port which is basically a supercharged 3.1 Gen 2 port I get 2.8Gbps consistently, big difference. Note I get these same speeds with a brand new official Oculus Link cable and one of bought off Amazon for $40 :) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B087NKYVL9/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I will say I like how much lighter and bendable the official Oculus one is though even though $80.

I also bought a PCI-e card that was supposed to be USB 3.2 Gen2 and I get the same 1.8Gbps as my MB USB 3.1 Gen2 so yeah.

Basically what is the actually optimal speed you need for Link and which point everything above that is gravy?

If going cheap, I personally recommend the following. This first one rose in price by about 10 dollars recently, presumably because of the release of Quest 2, but on the bright side, it also includes hanging pullies with the cable: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B087NKYVL9/

If you don't want/need the hanging system, this one is also good, and it is longer: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B083KC67CD/
