This isn't bad but for $50 I always recommend the Tecware Phantom

Now I linked the 87 key version but the 104 goes in/out of stock often on Amazon so just keep checking and is typically still just $50ish.

The lists of pluses vs the listed keyboard above is too many to list on mobile phone but suffice it to say it's a tremendous value including features that are typically on keebs twice its price.

The only "con" is that the Tecware uses Outemu switches not cherry but they do have cherry stem so ez to swap keycaps. However Outemu switches are fairly close to their cherry counterpart especially the blues.

Gmmk isn't the most budget hotswap board out there. Go to Amazon and search hotswap keyboard. You can find some real good stuff.

For example: Tecware Phantom 87 Key Mechanical Keyboard, RGB led, Outemu RED Switch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079HQM71L/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_WjJLEbM2DS48N

And you're paying a crazy amount for aliaz due to lack of proper shipping atm. If you're not lubing switches, you should prioritize lube over branding. Look at Taeha's sound demos with simple gat browns. Even a cheap switch will sound good lubed, but the reverse is rarely true. IMO get gat browns and lube. It'll be much more silent than you're used to if stock oem is all you've used.

You can game on any keyboard, most people refer to mechanical keyboards as “gaming” but you don’t need one of those to game, the input latency is what people would look for but unless you game on a professional and competitive level the keyboard you use will not make a difference, you can however use extra keys on a keyboard for macros and other uses this is mostly done for MMOs not really needed for FPS, I don’t know what type of games you play though. I’ll add one that’s a sold choice and has been reviewed on youtube. techware phantom 87

If you dont mind outemu switches, the Tecware Phantom is the best budget mech you can buy IMO. It used to come in brown switches but it looks like they took it off the site but they do come in blue and red switches which are hotswap. Not a 75% but a TKL at only $46. Really really good for the price

You may have a hard time finding a board with Cherry MX switches at that price, but the Tecware Phantom TKL is a solid board with Outemu Red switches and RGB for under $50. It also has a standard layout, so custom keycaps won't be problem.

I don't miss the num pad at all. Being able to center the keyboard a little more and not have to reahc as far for the mouse is quite nice. Keyboard is the tecware phantom with YMDK Retro keycaps. Check out r/MechanicalKeyboards if you're curious about this stuff, they know a lot more than I do

Hi, currently have this https://www.amazon.com/Tecware-Phantom-Mechanical-Keyboard-Outemu/dp/B079HQM71L

Looking to upgrade to something nicer all around - hopefully with Cherry Brown Switches.

Will I notice a big jump between these (ouetmu) and the Cherrys- or with the board quality in general?

The keyboard is the Tecware Phantom 87. It's a budget mechanical RGB keyboard. https://www.amazon.com/Tecware-Phantom-Mechanical-Keyboard-Outemu/dp/B079HQM71L It has good reviews. Here is a picture of the reviews that I heard about what I was saying about the keyboard not being active during startup: https://imgur.com/a/5pO6viU

I was looking to invest in a budget mechanical keyboard for my build, and I came across this:

https://www.amazon.com/Tecware-Phantom-Mechanical-Keyboard-Outemu/dp/B079HQM71L?th=1

Does the Tecware Phantom 87 come with brown switches, or is the keyboard with brown switches just OOS? The Tecware Phantom 104 comes with red, blue, and brown switches (going with brown ones), but I'm leaning towards the 87 due to the 87 model being TKL.

Can anyone confirm this before I invest? Thank you!

I'm gonna get my first mechanical, but I need some reassurance/advice.

  1. Are Outemu switches really that bad as some make them out to be?
  2. I'm split between the Drevo Calibur V2 and the Tecware Phantom 87. I'm going for Outemu Red switches. I'm leaning towards the Calibur because I like the layout and design, but the Tecware has high reviews and, if Outemus are unreliable, it's hotswappable.

Thank you!

It really comes down to do you want a bump or not. In any cheap pre-made mechanical keyboard, they will be using either MX Browns or equivalents. They are by far the most polarizing switch out there, though. MX Browns just give a very tiny bump whenever you click the switch, while reds do not. The same is true of Gateron, Outemu, etc., which are all cheaper versions than Cherry switches and are typically what is found in budget boards. People don't like browns because they are not as tactile as some more expensive switches, but for a budget board they are decent in my opinion. I have them in one of mine.

This keyboard is generally regarded as a good introductory board. Or you can go with Redragon boards. I have two Redragons and love them, but considering they use the same switches as the board I linked, I would say go with the one I linked. It's <$50. Or if you want to spend more then you could go with this HyperX board, which is a decent manufacturer.

I would personally choose the first board and if you don't like red switches then return it for brown ones.

He doesn’t need a new monitor, that Asus 1080p is more than enough for a 3060ti system. What he needs is a good mechanical keyboard. He will have to learn to be a good typer, and he will be using that keyboard very often, so it pays to have a good one.

You should check out this one:

Also, here’s some reading if you like to know more about the enthusiast community’s recommendations:

I recommend taking the kiddo to check out some of the different switches, if possible, so he knows what kind he likes. Also make sure to check if he likes the tenkeyless small form factor boards or a full one with numpad.

Let me know if you need help finding a right keyboard for him!

Pretty sure it’s a Tecware Phantom. Source, I own [this keyboard] (https://i.imgur.com/0ELgwAP.jpg)

Edit: Theirs may not be the 87 key, I think I see the hint of a numpad.

It's a fairly decent budget mechanical keyboard. The major consideration is whether you want the clicky switches, since that keyboard uses Outemu Blues which are pretty darn loud.

I was curious about what TKL keyboard I should get. My previous mechanical keyboard broke and I'm looking for a good replacement. I wanted a keyboard under $80 since my protection plan covers that much (Saving money for a gpu) Some of my thoughts and interests were caught by these:

  • Logitech G613 Lightspeed
  • HyperX Alloy Fps Pro (Red backlit only, Not the RGB one)
  • Tecware Phantom 87 Key or The Low Profile version of it
  • DREVO Blademaster TE All Rounder (I also don't know what switch I should get for it, So if this turns out to be the winner I'd appreciate it alot if you guys tell me what switch would be good)

I'll take any other suggestions as well

I'm also curious on which switch I Should get, I like browns and reds, But not sure what's better. I used to have blue's and they were to loud. So I'm looking for something that feels nice.

Link's to the keyboards:
HyperX Alloy FPS Pro
DREVO Blademaster TE All Rounder
Logitech G613 Lightspeed
Tecware Phantom 87 Key
Tecware Phantom 87 Key L (Low Profile)

Edit: I just realized that the 87 Key was actually a hot-swap keyboard
