Another vote for TalentCell batteries, except I use a slightly different model: TalentCell Rechargeable 12V 6000mAH/5V 12000mAh

I have two in my kit, one to use and one for backup, but they have been rock solid for me. I've never once had to switch out the battery pack for my second one, even on 14+ hour days with the recorder (I use a Zoom F4, so the F8n might suck a little more juice in your case) on the entire day, even through lunch.

Hard to beat for the price, I just use a hirose-to-DV power cable I bought on Amazon to connect it.

Calibrate every time, always let it warm up for 20 minutes before use, label what powder you have in it, and:

One of these will give you more consistent voltage, which means less overcharges: TalentCell Rechargeable 12V 6000mAh/5V 12000mAh DC Output Lithium Ion Battery Pack for LED Strip and CCTV Camera, Portable Li-ion Battery Bank with Charger, Black (Multi-led Indicator) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ME3ZH7C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_b47CFbX63JM7K

Would this battery be less noisy and more size appropriate? Are adjustable voltage switches noisy by nature?

This is the battery pack on Amazon that lots of reviewers say they use for their Spectra S2.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ME3ZH7C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_zZr.EbWB266WQ

Reviews say either the 3000mAh or 6000mAh is fine, the 6000 will just give you twice as much time between charges.

This is the one I am using: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ME3ZH7C/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It is more than $20 for sure, but I can easily throw it in my backpack when I am heading out to fish. You will need to splice on some connectors to mate up to whatever fish finder you have, but the process is easy.

Any reason we can't use one of these to power it to make it more portable? It matches the output specs on the AC/DC transformer (12v 6.0A).

This is the one I saw recommended on a few blogs, as well as on the r/babybumps page! It’s the one I’ll be buying when my pump comes in. Some people suggested adding some double sided Velcro to the back of the spectra to hold the battery hands free, too!

So I haven’t gotten it yet, but it’s this one

A couple others on reddit recommended it, and if you check the reviews there are a ton that are using it specifically for that with a ton of success! I figured it was worth $35, but not important enough for $150 or so to me.

With 12:1 and 8:1 compression, you aren't dealing with files sizes that are much bigger than a DSLR or mirror-less camera. That level is fine even for TV commercials. I wouldn't use that for green screen work though.

>Blackmagic RAW 8:1 - 41 MB/s
Blackmagic RAW 12:1 - 27 MB/s

Don't fall into the believe that you have to get a cage, external display, or all the extra crap at the start that won't change your creativity. Most of the activity on this sub is more obsessed with rigs than the things they shoot.

  • A cheap used Flycam or Glidecam is fine ... and they have other cheaper options by Neewer for only like 50$. Personally I have a Ronin-S from when they were only 500$ but used a Glidecam for 10+ years.
  • Audio in on the XLR in is actually pretty damn good. I use it on the Pocket 6K, Pocket 4K, and Ursa 4.6K. If you are just shooting weddings or small events ... just use the XLR in and 3.5mm in if you need two channels. If you need two high quality inputs, then yeah ... external is the way to go.
  • Always shoot in Blackmagic's compressed format "Blackmagic RAW". The true camera RAW was dropped in a firmware release but BRAW (not raw) is way better than ProRes at close to the same file sizes.
  • Official Canon batteries last 45-50 minutes. External power for several hours is doable on the cheap with packs like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ME3ZH7C/ ... but vmount is more classy for about 3x the cost. But they are typically better brands.
  • Grading takes time to learn. A color chart on location might help you early on if you shoot stuff that you can't control the lighting.

I asked about this the other day as well. I was given the advice to get a second set of parts (I found this set of parts that fit the s2 but it's not spectra brand. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07LBPTMGC/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_U8-cFbRSWA8CT), a battery pack in case of traveling (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ME3ZH7C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_p2JdFbQ4V5TTV), different sized bottles to pump into, and different sized flanges.

Edit: Added links. Also I went back to the post others gave me advice on and they also mentioned make sure to have backflow protectors. I'm getting the spectra s2 with the backpack (a $30 upgrade for me) but it comes with 2 different sizes of flanges & backflow protectors

Yo dawg, I heard you like converting voltages on top of converting voltages!

Just buy a battery bank with a 12v output, like this one, and a Dc to cigarette adapter like this and plug in the Solo II car charger. Or assuming it uses a standard plug, you can buy any 12v 1A charger like this.

Milwaukee batteries are kind of bulky. This battery is just as bulky but 2x the capacity of a comparable sized Milwaukee tool battery. I got one of those for my girlfriend's mom and it was too big to fit the battery pocket of her vest. So I bought her one of these batteries instead. But I'm not sure either of these could handle 6.2 amps. The Milwaukee battery pack definitely can't put out that much power. I burned out their 18v power source on what I believe was a 4.5 amp load.

The easiest way to add a rechargeable battery is to just buy a battery like this: https://www.amazon.com/TalentCell-Rechargeable-12000mAh-Multi-led-indicator/dp/B00ME3ZH7C/ I've used that one, only with less mAh, in three small portable BT speakers and they work great. I didn't have enough room for it, so I got rid of the black case, except for the front panel. I did the same with one of these once, too in a bigger more powerful build: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078T7M9HZ On that one I thought I'd be able to use the 5v output alongside the 24v output, and it didn't work out that way, so you may be able to find something cheaper with the same power specs.

I don't think you need the step-up cable. I think you just need a 12V power bank like this:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ME3ZH7C

...and a male to male cable to connect the power bank the Zoom DHC-1.

We use the pro installer gateway, but I just power it with a larger 12v rechargeable battery pack, and I purchase a camera PoE splitter and use the pre made cord that comes with it.

Battery:

TalentCell Rechargeable 12V 6000mAh/5V 12000mAh DC Output Lithium Ion Battery Pack for LED Strip and CCTV Camera, Portable Li-ion Battery Bank with Charger, Black (Multi-led Indicator) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ME3ZH7C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_iMEnFbHH410VH

Adapter:

iCreatin Passive PoE Injector and PoE Splitter Kit with 5.5x2.1 mm DC Connector https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NRHNPUA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_TMEnFbT6K0HC1

The adapter could be custom made I’ve just had bad luck with that. I just use one half of the above unit and remote the male Ethernet and then use a small patch cable.

All in this bag with carabiner:

Klein Tools 51A Tool Pouch, Utility Pouch for Carrying Nuts and Bolts, with Interior Pocket, No. 10 Canvas, 9 x 3.5 x 10-Inch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0061J57ZW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_EPEnFbGTY39C8

We then just use our cell phone web browser to login and view radio.

Let's say you bought this:

https://astrozap.com/collections/dew-heaters/products/dew-heater-9-1-4-inch-telescopes

If you run it at the full 12 volts, it will draw 1.3 Amps. So to run it at full tilt for 3 hours would require a 12 volt power supply capable of supporting 1.3 Amp draw, and with at least 3.9 Amp-hour capacity.

Something like this would work:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ME3ZH7C/

At 12v, it can supply 3 Amps, so it will handle the load of the dew strip. It has a 6 Amp-hour capacity, so at full power, it will let that dew strip run for 4.6 hours (though it will no doubt vary by temperature)

You can connect the dew strap directly to 12v, but then it will always run at full power, which may overheat the corrector and cause warm air currents to really screw with the view. So ideally you would connect it to a PWM controller like this: https://www.highpointscientific.com/telescope-accessories/dew-prevention/dew-controllers/thousand-oaks-digital-dew-heater-controller-ddhc

Then you can control the output. If you reduced the voltage to say, 6 volts, you'll get half the power output, but then double the run time. Put some nice insulation around the dew heater + a dew shield, and you can make the dew heater sip power while keeping dew off of the corrector, giving you maximum run time with minimal heat needed.

A cheaper alternative to that Thousand Oaks dew controller is a PWM controller from Amazon for about $8, a small plastic project box to put it in, and the various wiring components needed to let you connect it to the battery and the dew strap. But depends on how handy you are and willing to DIY the solution.

Maybe something like this or this? You can even buy a buck converter and boost the 5v ouput from a regular USB power bank to achieve the goal without too much loss.

AA batteries: I just saw a friend using it so it probably wasn't this one (and had color) but it had the same AA 3 pack setup as this one: https://www.amazon.com/Battery-Powered-Lights%EF%BC%8CGeekeep-Waterproof-Flexible/dp/B01IN4ZH16

Mine:

- Strip (note that it's 12V, not 5)

- Controller / Remote

- Battery (has a 5V USB output but I'm using the 12V output) Talentcell also makes much smaller ones.

On the bike, I've had durability issues with the LED strips. Side impacts and tugging can cut the thin wires inside, even though the external rubbery plastic is durable.

These color changing LED fairy lights have been more durable in terms of the wires taking bending and impacts, but the USB plug portion has been finicky. They are of course dimmer, but way less draw. I also have a 3x AA version that's been extremely durable and I get >48 hours run time. If I were going to light my onewheel I'd probably try the USB fairy lights and a small USB battery velcroed to the rail, like the kind designed to charge a phone once or twice. With the AA version as backup if I ran into issues.

Note that all issues with durability and electronics being finicky may be because my experience with these are at Burning Man. It's dusty AF and things don't get treated well. But I've had the AA fairy lights safety-pinned to a jacket getting ground around under a backpack, scraped along climbable sculptures, etc, for years with zero issues. I have to replace the LED strips on the bike every year and I generally have to repair them or splice a damaged section out within the week.

First, oof for autocorrect. Second, You can get a sigma 17-50 and a viltrox efm2 for the lenses, that gives you a 24-70 f2, though a heliopan ir uv cut is the must, because that bmpcc4k has terrible ir pollution, and the heliopan is the only filter that provides minimal color vignette at wide angles. ( https://www.davidkennardphotography.com/blog/1069-ir-cut-filters-compared.xhtml BG40) If you shoot 8:1 or 12:1 you can get away with a sandisk 170mb/s sd card, but I would highly recommend you to get a 1 tb samsung t5 for the lower compression and the longer recording times, for the cages, smallrig cage is your best bet, a full cage is a bit heavy, but it protects your camera from drops and makes your handheld footage a lot smoother. the part 2246 and 2203 is crucial fr supporting the t5 and the lenses since the mft mount on the bmpcc4k is a bit weak. And for the powering options, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ME3ZH7C/ref=emc_b_5_t This battery together with this https://www.amazon.com/Alvins-Cables-BMPCC4K-Blackmagic-Pocket/dp/B07SH413LM/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=alvins%2Bcables%2Bbmpcc4k&qid=1586182283&sr=8-3&th=1 adapter should be a great way to power your camera, since you can just put the battery in a large pocket (buy a extension cable https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FTH6WNS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ) and you don't need a complicated v mount setup. And that's what I generally use for a lightweight handheld setup, pretty cheap and and pretty small.

Your’e welcome, let me know if something is unclear once you do it

Your light will use 500mAh per hour, so depending on how often you want to charge it and how big of a weight you want to add to the bike you can decide for yourself.

With a 6000mAh battery your light will run about 12hrs. Deduct a little bit for self discharge, temperature fluctuations, and maybe you want to add a tail light. I'd choose a battery with 6000mAh or more.

A battery-pack like this comes with a charger, i believe a circuit protection and a USB outlet for your phone or a little GPS speedo- and odometer: https://www.amazon.com/TalentCell-Rechargeable-12000mAh-Multi-led-indicator/dp/B00ME3ZH7C/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=12v+power+bank&qid=1595261149&sr=8-3

A pack of those plugs will help connecting your devices: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07C7VSRBG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I also own and can recommend this tail light: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0793HWQM2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

(be careful its a lot smaller then it appears on amazon) You can hook that up to the same switch as your headlight, turning both of them on with only one switch. Neat!

My headlight needs 6V-80V, you can find such in the e-bike section. Thats why I decided for this battery: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07K31VBLY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Lights with a wider range for volts are handy because they will stay as bright even though you voltage drops a bit with a discharging battery. But it only has 8.4V so be aware, a 12V LED might not work.

And here’s my headlight if youre interested https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MBXDPBX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I couldn’t find cheap and proper cords really online. But you’re looking for a maybe 18-2 stranded wire, they should sell them by feet at ace hardware.

Can you solder? That will help here. But there are other options too, your first electrical light build might look messy but you will be so satisfied turning everything on with only one switch.
