And you can add Bluetooth with any basic adapter from Amazon, like this.

You'll have to buy a bluetooth transceiver. You can get tiny USB ones, so it would be the same solution, effectively.

Plenty on amazon for around $10. Good thing is you can return it anytime.

Here's the Amazon link. I don't think it'll wake the computer from sleep, but my mouse does, and the board works after it wakes up, so it's not a huge issue for me.

Open Windows Device Manger and look for Bluetooth.
Bluetooth is pretty common/standard in Latitude laptops but not so much in Optiplex desktops.

I believe any dongle that supports Bluetooth 2 and above should suffice. I use mine wired, so can't recommend any specific brands from personal experience unfortunately.
This one on Amazon seems to have a bunch of good reviews, for example: https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-Bluetooth-Receiver-Controllers-UB400/dp/B07V1SZCY6/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=ps4+bluetooth+dongle+for+pc&qid=1601663611&sprefix=ps4+bluetooth+dongle&sr=8-3#aw-udpv3-customer-reviews_feature_div

I use this for my pc. The range is awesome with no dropouts. The built in Bluetooth on my laptop and desktop pc (both win10 fully updated) were horrible. This rules. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07V1SZCY6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_j8RnFb10MWTN2

And my buds stay connected the whole time, but windows 10 has some wonkiness with the buds and video calls. Other things however work fine, I use my buds when I'm watching videos on the computer and it works fine.

I know that AirPods don't work with PS4/5 natively. On PS4 you can supposedly use a Bluetooth dongle to add support. Has anyone testing bluetooth dongles with the PS5? Can you recommend a Bluetooth 5.0 dongle I can use to pair my AirPods to the PS5?
1 points • jspringer1978
Does the controller work with the PC when plugged in? I'd buy a new bluetooth transceiver for $10 before I bought a new controller.

You could try a bluetooth dongle, I'd imagine a 2010 wouldn't have a lot of the newer bluetooth standards for range/quality, such as this one.
1 points • fsv
Any half-decent USB bluetooth dongle will do the job for this. How about this one?
Alternatively, PCIe WiFi cards pretty much universally come with Bluetooth too, if you think you might need WiFi in the future that may be a good option too.

If 4.0 is enough then you can get this one from Amazon:Link

Just tried resetting the controllers and re-pairing them.. It pairs and connects for a second then disconnects again. I bought these controllers used so I don’t know if the problem is with the controllers or the Bluetooth usb dongle I bought on amazon. I’m going to try and return these tomorrow and just buy new controllers to see if that changes anything.

You can use either or but you’ll either need the adapter from either Sony or Microsoft (depending on which one you use) or Bluetooth capabilities. If you don’t have it tied into your PC already you’ll have to buy a Bluetooth dongle.

There are USB dongles, like this one.

Sounds like it might be a windows driver issue or the adapter then because this is the official process to pair and if that doesn't work and you've tried different controllers it's probably windows or the adapter at fault.
You say held them. You only need to press them once and not at the same time.
https://support.xbox.com/help/hardware-network/accessories/xbox-wireless-adapter-for-windows-setup
I recommend just using bluetooth with something like this https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-Bluetooth-Receiver-Controllers-UB400/dp/B07V1SZCY6/

You probably need to buy some piece of additional hardware, like this if you want just Bluetooth or this if you also want WiFi
1 points • ImprovisedJew
I dont see why you wouldnt be able to just get a normal bluetooth adapter like this. I can connect a ps4 controller straight to my laptop that has bluetooth and it works.
Edit: Ahh I see you also want Touchpad support, I know http://ds4windows.com lets you use the touchpad but I'm not sure if it works on PSnow, wouldn't hurt to try though.

I bought this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07V1SZCY6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Paired very easily and seems to work fine. haven't played extensively yet though. No headphone jack, but that's expected. I think this controller just doesn't play well with older bluethooth hardware.

If you don't mind external, they sell small USB BT dongles. I use that for my mini pc builds.

Yes, it's normal.
I fixed it buying: https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-Bluetooth-Receiver-Controllers-UB400/dp/B07V1SZCY6/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=tplink+usb+bluetooth&qid=1585598344&sr=8-1
It's a tiny bluetooth adaptor. You have to disable the integrated bluetooth card.
It works pretty well and the bt delay is minimum. No stuttering and lagging.

Generic USB Bluetooth adapter

Note: when using bluetooth devices it's better to have just use the mic OR just use the headphone part - using both can take too much of the bluetooth bandwidth - or so my techie brother tells me.

If you have a desktop and your mobo doesnt have one, PCIE bluetooth or a bluetooth dongle
Xbone X controllers also has an official adapter for Windows

I found a b550 mobo:
It includes wifi but not bluetooth so if I get something like this as well it should work well

use a generic bluetooth adapter
at least that's what I do, I thought I paid \~ $7 for the one I have though.

POTENTIAL WORK-AROUND....
I am using the TP-Link 4.0 dongle (https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-Bluetooth-Receiver-Controllers-UB400/dp/B07V1SZCY6 ) and it "corrected" the stuttering issue...and it did for the most part (not fully though). But, what I did find is that with the dongle I am having issues with the sound being lower...much lower at max volume using the TP-Link. I found a fix to this on Windows 10 computers.
https://helgeklein.com/blog/2019/01/free-equalizer-for-windows-10/
Follow the install instructions (very, very simple), using the TP-Link dongle, and I believe that I have both the stuttering and volume fixed, plus I have a great free equalizer that I can customize to the sound that I like for each of my headphones and earbuds.
I hope that this helps others...for I love the earbuds on my iphone, and really would like them to work with my computer...and now I think that I have it functioning...(or so I believe)...

WARNING - MBP 16 Bricked Bluetooth - A Cautionary Tale
This is just a heads up to anyone else experiencing bluetooth issues on their brand new MacBook Pro 16".
I bought a usb bluetooth 4.0 dongle to fix BT problems I was experiencing in BootCamp. At the time I only had problems within BootCamp. However, I was so bold as to unplug it while in MacOS and BRICKED THE BUILT-IN BLUETOOTH. Neither OS detects any bluetooth devices, let alone connects to any. Now it only works with dongle attached. My laptop is being sent to Apple right now for repair / replacement / refund. For those who are curious, this is the dongle I bought.
Here are some threads that have more detail.

I'm not suggesting that this outcome is a guarantee, but rather, trying to warn others of the possibility so it doesn't happen to them.
Fingers crossed the cause is firmware, not hardware design. Either way, it's a shame. Besides this hiccup it was by far the best computer I've ever had.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Here's your setup with tested and approved devices:
OTG: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07XMBVQ2R
Wi-Fi: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008IFXQFU
Bluetooth: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07V1SZCY6?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Wi-Fi allows you to update games, etc from a couple rooms away without having to bring the console back to the pc. It also allows for bluetooth use.
Bluetooth - a single $10 bluetooth card supports up to 7 simultaneous wireless controllers.

Yes. You will want a full setup though. Especially since you're transitioning from those full sounding headphones. I went through the same thing and just having bookshelf speakers didn't cut it for me. My PC has an optical output so I have an optical cable going to a receiver. Connected to the receiver is 2 bookshelf speakers and a subwoofer.
How do you feel about the used market? I got a Pioneer receiver on Craigslist for $30. Pioneer Andrew Jones Bookshelf speakers for $40 and the Pioneer Andrew Jones Sub for $40 on Facebook Marketplace. Sounds just as good if not better than my headphone setup - Fiio M7 --> Fiio E12 --> Audio Technica ATH-M50x.
But I completely understand if you want minimal setup. If you want to experiment and just try bookshelf speakers, make sure they are powered and don't require an amp/receiver. Something like these. You will want a cable like this to connect those speakers to your PC. If you are not sure if your computer has the output you need, you can buy one of these. Or you could also buy a bluetooth receiver to connect to those speakers.
Any questions, ask away. I've done what you wanted many times over for myself and others lol Best of luck! :)
