None of the new XPS devices have USB-A. They say that it allows them to be thinner. Ultimately I don't care that much since I already have a handful of these from when my employer replaced my Mac. They're cheap, small, and work fine.
Also, it's worth reading the fine print: USB-C to USB-A v3.0 & HDMI v2.0 adapter ships standard
The adapter is also included with the XPS 15 (but is not mentioned on the XPS 13 product page).

You'll need a usb-a to usb-c adapter to be able to plug in the controller. All of the controllers have have a usb-a cable because thats what the doc has as ports. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CVX3516/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_37.8EbXQK306V
Depending on the controller you might be able to get a separate cable the has a usb-c connection on one end to plug into switch

Doesn't the pixel 3A use USB-C? A usb C-A adapter should give you a "regular" usb port to plug your drive into.

That's correct. No USB-A ports on any of the 2020 XPS machines. The 15" and 17" do come with a USB-C adapter with a USB-A and HDMI port on it. It's included in the box, which is nice, but it's a little bulky.
These are the ones I bought. I wanted them as simple as possible.

> Have you owned a computer with just USB C and nothing else before?
Yeah, i have two. Thing is, for the times I don't have one of my cheap docks with me for the one or two times I need to plug in a USB-A device, someone made this.

It will work. I had mine running off of USB-C and it somehow made the vr headset perform better. I have a USB 3.0 to USB C adapter and it worked flawlessly. The USB 3.0 to USB-C adapter i would recommend for the Oculus Rift S is this one. USB 3.0 to USB-C adpater. It has good ratings and it's very good build quality. I'm using that adapter right now and it works fine. The VR headset performs a little better with USB-C too from what i noticed. Tracking is a lot more fluid and smooth with USB-C.

It sounds like you're talking about the MacBook Air.
I'm not sure why they used two hubs, why they didn't use the audio-out port on the MacBook, or why they didn't use a power adapter. You can find single hubs that have all the above for pretty cheap.
Here's one that includes it all plus VGA for $30
I have a smaller one that doesn't include VGA, because I have no use for that.
Here's the thing... I rarely need the hub. When I hiked across the Swiss Alps last year, it was nice knowing that my MacBook was absolutely as small and light as possible without these things I would not use.
When I travel to a conference, I bring the hub... and like most people, a power adapter. Increasingly though, my hub just stays in the bag.
This article is over a year an a half old, and really it was out of date at the time:
>Most monitors are HDMI and devices like mice, card readers, and hard drives still use USB-A ports. Not every laptop owner needs all of these ports, but for each one you do need, you have to buy a dongle or an adapter. If you wanted to use your new MacBook for everything you did with your old one, you would need to spend $158 to get your ports back. And if you don't buy all the dongles, your old accessories are now obsolete.
The thing is with the exception of HDMI and Ethernet, most of what I plug in has either been upgraded to USB-C or I've used an USB-C to Micro-USB cable. You can get USB-C to USB-A adapters for $5 each and just leave them on the old cables/devices.
The bottom line is that I think Apple made the right decision with moving to USB-C the way they did on the Macs. My one complaint is that I wish they had moved to USB-C universally across all of their products instead of continuing to support Lightning.

I had my keyboard connected to a rear USB port on my desktop, and the desktop rear was facing the wall. The keylogger was connected between the keyboard and the PC's usb port and was smaller than a thumb drive. It was also the same color as the cable (black), and would be hard to notice unless I was looking at it directly.
It kind of looks like this

USB-C convertor would be something that you use to connect a regular USB-A connector to the new macbook air models. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com//dp/B07CVX3516

You can use a USB A to USB C Adapter with the included cable and it will work on a USB C charger but full USB C compliance requires a resistor mod on the charging chip. Originally, the LT1 was designed to utilize Micro USB but was changed to USB C at the 11th hour because it is a more robust connector and doesn't require a certain orientation. The full USB C spec was never contemplated. Apparently, Sofirn is working on it with the next batch.

Aren’t there USB C male to USB A female adapters? I think I have one for Mac. That being said, if it works, it works.
Edit: Found it. Would this not work? Just curious.

ok I see. thanks. I just wish they werent so expensive. do you think I need a dock that supports it? or can a simple usb to thunderbolt port support it too? like this one https://www.amazon.com/Syntech-Adapter-Thunderbolt-Compatible-MacBook/dp/B07CVX3516/ref=sr_1_2?crid=1LD2E93VR8WXI&dchild=1&keywords=usb+a+to+usb+c&qid=1605929219&s=electronics&sprefix=usb+a+to+%2Celectronics%2C182&sr=1-2

Get an adapter?
https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-USB-Type-C-Charger-Cable/dp/B01GGKZ2SC
You can even do this if you have to,
https://www.amazon.com/Adaptador-USB-Gris-Space-Grey/dp/B07CVX3516/
(no idea if those specific ones are any good, just example I found)
The advantages of USB-C is that normal USB is supposed to be limited to 5W, for charging everyone uses 10-15 W, 3A, 5V but that's not standard. USB-C is designed to be able to do up to 29 W by default, so you can charge you laptop, phone, anything without any special charger, directly for USB-C.
Although some phones do use proprietary chargers to charge even faster and they need a separate wall plug with it's own charger + cable. OnePlus for example only has USB-A to USB-C WarpCharging (30 - 50W). Similar with Samsung S20. But that's really on the manufacturer, since everyone should be moving to USB-C to USB-C for everything.

The standard USB cable works with this hub I have https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TYZJ8PC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_8xcZEbEERKK4Q but not these adapters I also have https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CVX3516/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_nBcZEbSAJCBRH. The USB C to micro b cable only works with external hard drives and not the reader. I can’t test this cable on another computer because I only have one computer with usb c. Not sure what’s going on.

here's a pack I found for 35$. It fits well with the apple aesthetic (Seems to be designed after it ) and is bluetooth, therefor you won't need a USB c stick. For more options, Look up : Bluetooth keyboard on amazon
I don't know of any USB C wireless ones however, I believe the transmitter would be to big for the small form factor. Another solution is to get an adapter such as this one to use your usb-A keyboard with.

You could order a USB C to A adapter on amazon. I have used these for other devices without issue. My USB-C port worked fine for my G2 so I cant speak to whether these work for the G2, but I dont see why they wouldn't. https://www.amazon.com/Syntech-Adapter-Thunderbolt-Compatible-MacBook/dp/B07CVX3516/ref=sr_1_3?crid=1IP0BK8DJCEE3&dchild=1&keywords=usb+c+to+a+adapter&qid=1609021665&sprefix=usb+c+to+a+%2Caps%2C185&sr=8-3

Oh, so the rectangle one? Here you go then. https://www.amazon.com/S/dp/B07CVX3516. There's an adaptor for literally every possible combination. Just search amazon for "[connector type] to [port type]". In this case it's USB A to USB C.
1 points • SapphireDestiny
No there's no USB-C version. You could get an C-A adapter if you really needed it C.
It wouldnt be any faster. USB C and A are just the physical ports. They both run on USB 3.1 so they're the same speed.

I bought myself a couple of these USB drives a while back, very handy for file exchange. Also this media card reader and these USB-A adapters. Small and convenient.

Following my earlier comment with a separate response so you wont miss it. I just did some preliminary testing, and yeah a Nolo can work without a PC tether. I grabbed a USB C to A adapter and plugged in the headset tracking marker from my Nolo (Used as the hip tracker in SteamVR) after side loading the latest VirtualHere apk with sidequest. Seems like it can run in the background just fine with Virtual Desktop as the VR streaming app of choice.
I didn't test it in game, but after doing the 5 point calibration in Driver4VR, the headset marker and both controllers were tracking just fine, and the latency wasn't too bad. No worse than the Quest's controllers on VD 1.10. All the setup is really missing is a USB C hub with power passthrough to keep the Quest charged, and some creative cable routing behind your back to keep the headset marker's cable out of the way. Might throw together a little video showcasing everything. Still kinda expensive, but if you can get a Nolo used for cheap like I did, totally doable.
Total Cost (Mileage may vary):
-
Nolo CV1 (Used) - $50 (FB marketplace is your best bet here. AVG/mean ebay price for the last 5 sold comes to ~$95)
-
Apple USB C to A Adapter - 0$ (Had this lying around from some Beats I have. No reason something like this $7 one shouldn't work fine though)
-
Micro USB cable - $0 (Any old USB data cable should work. Probably have one lying around. Keep in mind, it needs to be able to reach your waist, so 3 - 4FT ($6) is about the right size.)
-
Driver4VR - ~$20
-
VirtualHere - $25 (There might be a free alternative, but I used the free trial of this just to test the connectivity.)
My total: $95
If you're starting with NOTHING and get a decent deal on a Nolo: ~$158

just need to get a USB to USB-C adapter, or get a USB-B to USB-C cable and you should be all set in terms of hookup. links to each are below.
in regards to the software, you probably don’t have to contact sera to at all...the license is usually with / confirmed by the hardware being attached, so you can download and install it on as many computers as you want. would try before you even reach out to them.
Native USB-B to USB-C cable (I’d go this route): https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-Printer-USB-C-Black/dp/B00VKSF39O/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=USB-b+to+usb-c+cable+matters&qid=1591075063&sr=8-3

Something like this?: https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Aluminum-Adapter-MacBook-Chromebook/dp/B07DFYQXY7/
Another possibility is to just convert a USB-A hub to USB-C: https://www.amazon.com/Syntech-Adapter-Thunderbolt-Compatible-MacBook/dp/B07CVX3516/
Just be mindful of power requirements of devices you're connecting. More power hungry devices might be better off with a powered hub: https://www.amazon.com/RSHTECH-Splitter-Portable-Aluminum-Individual/dp/B07Q13G9MT/

- Wrap the center console. That glossy black was tough to keep clean.
- Brighter lights for the trunk and puddle lights are great, and easy to install.
- VW/Audi bag hooks in the trunk are handy.
- A method to record dash cam and sentry cam. Plus memory.
- Adapter to watch sentry events on your phone (Android w/ USB C).
- Rotate your own tires? One or more of these pucks.
- No spare tire, so consider a pump, and a plug kit.
- Frunk liner
- Trunk liner, cause getting splinters and sand out of carpet is no fun.
- All weather floor mats, again sand is terrible in carpet.
Depending on where you are in Canada, there is a mudflap kit available for free.
