EDIT: Fine I'll just build one you annoying piece of doo doo (jk I appreciate you)

I feel like if you have to have a pre built something like this SkyTech Blaze II Gaming Computer PC Desktop – Ryzen 5 2600 6-Core 3.4 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 6G, 500G SSD, 8GB DDR4, RGB, AC WiFi, Windows 10 Home 64-bit https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RHBLV7F/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_9CQLEbVBXMR8Z is going to be a lot better the only real issue is 8 gigs of ram, but it’s 2 more cores and 4 threads more plus a generation better

The prebuilt is called the Skytech Blaze II.

The PC is clean, that definitely isn’t the issue. The only problem is I’m going to have trouble replacing the fan myself and paying to get it fixed is also going to be a pain because of the whole coronavirus thing. No warranty that I acknowledge.

Man do yourself a favor and get a pc, you can replace parts easily and clean them easily, and get more power for a lower price, https://www.amazon.com/SkyTech-Blaze-Gaming-Computer-Desktop/dp/B07RHBLV7F/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_sspa?keywords=800+dollar+gaming+pc&qid=1582096073&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEyNVExSDlCUlVQNElGJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwODc3Mzk2V1g4TDlVRFBUUFVaJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTA2MzgwNDgyQlFVM0lJNzVMTEtOJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfcGhvbmVfc2VhcmNoX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU= if you want a prebuilt that’s not a bad deal, or a secondhand pc is the best deal, but make sure it works fine first

this would probably be my recommendation, if you want a "simple purchase" rather than picking parts individually.

things to look for if you do decide to pick parts would be -
graphics card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 / Radeon RX 580 (or higher)
processor: 2.6ghz 4-cores, or faster
RAM (memory): 8gb or higher, ideally at least 16gb for lots of CC

The price has gone up a little bit since I originally ordered it but I'm getting the Skytech blaze II from Amazon.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07RHBLV7F/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Everyone I've spoken with says that it seems to have decent specs. I plan to upgrade the RAM and get a additional SSD hard drive for it though.

Never heard of Skytech, but a quick google shows this on Amazon.

Building it yourself will almost always be a better option. As an example, you can buy the exact same spec system as parts and assemble it yourself for only $563.67. You're essentially paying SkyTech $200 to assemble it, which is silly because anyone can put together a PC in an afternoon.

What is your budget? You should definitely post on /r/buildapcforme rather than buying a prebuilt.

I cannot personally recommend getting a prebuilt (because less bang for you buck) but if you're absolutely sure that you can't build one or save up to build one, these specs aren't too bad for the price.

I've normally built all mine but this time around I have a few IRL issues and I don't want to deal with separate warranties and other things. Plus I've lost my Windows 10 disc for my previous build + my disk drive is broken.

For reference the last PC I built was in \~August of 2016 and I haven't kept up with all the advances since \~2018.

To answer your questions:

> Are most other nvidia cards likely compatible with my motherboard

GPUs are interchangeable. There are no compatibility issues with motherboards. Think of GPUs like a USB device. You can take a flash drive and plug it into any computer and it will work. Same way, you can swap out any other GPU into your computer and it will work if you can supply it with power

> and psu etc

Is this your computer? https://www.amazon.com/SkyTech-Blaze-Gaming-Computer-Desktop/dp/B07RHBLV7F

This looks like it comes with a 550W power supply. I have ran a quick check on power consumption, and a 550W power supply will be able to feed a 2600 ryzen with a 2070 Super OR a 2600 ryzen with an AMD 5700 XT.

The only thing you have to check is if your power supply has the actual cables to power those. You have a non-modular power supply, so if you don't have the required cables, you would be in a spot of trouble. Here is a quick but comprehensive article on GPU power cables: https://www.gpumag.com/gpu-power-connectors-explained/

When you are shopping for a new GPU, just check what power cables it requires. Take off your PC back panel and check what cables you have.

Just as a note - the 2070S and 5700XT are horrible value for money if you buy them new, so I would recommend looking for used ones. The 30 series and AMD 6000 series are better value, but they require a lot more power. They would also get bottlenecked by your CPU. So going for those would require almost a brand new PC.

So if you are deadset on upgrading right now, go for a used GPU.

You should always give your budget when asking this. Desktops can be upwards of 5000$

For 3D work you will want the best graphics card you can afford, the better the graphics card the faster your GPUrenders will be in Arnold.

Here are 3 different price tiers. I wouldn't recommend going above 2000 with a build if you are just starting to learn 3D.

It is usually better to build your own pc as you will pay up to 400 or more extra for a prebuilt machine that may have lesser quality parts (useless things like rgb), and won't be as customized to your needs.

Logical Increment is a good site for seeing builds by price.

https://www.logicalincrements.com/

I would get a cheaper case than this site recommends, the case does not add performance and the money is better spent on upgrading internals.

If you can a wait a few months the 3000 Nvidia graphics cards are releasing supposedly in September. They should be a substantial increase in performance than the current, and all other cards will probably drop in price. The XX70s series are usually the best performance to price ratio so the RTX3070 will probably be the one to get.

Here’s a decent prebuilt for $800 that should have no problem keeping steady 144 fps:
