After I installed this game, I migrated my OS and the game from a 500 GB HDD to this SSD (non referral link, just fyi). https://www.amazon.com/Silicon-Power-Performance-Internal-SP512GBSS3A55S25/dp/B07997QV4Z/ref=sr_1_3?crid=34LUP7NVOLUL5&dchild=1&keywords=512+ssd&qid=1600187602&sprefix=512+ssd%2Caps%2C228&sr=8-3 . Night and day difference. I don't know why I waited so long to make that upgrade, lol.

You need a 2.5 in sata ssd not an m.2 but a 2.5in like this one here is a link to one in Amazon

2.5 inch SATA. Ye gods! It's got a 5400rpm spinner of an HD. Good choice in replacing it. (example)

You will still be limited by the speed of the SSD even over USB 3.1. That SSD is overpriced, but you can grab one of these and put it in an enclosure.

I recently bought a 500GB SSD that I am currently using and plan to swap over
I was going back and forth on the 2070 and 2070 Super. I might just pull the trigger on the Super though

> I don't think I can buy any decent 500GB SSD for $45 lol
Go with some generic SSD from "locally known brand" https://www.amazon.com/Silicon-Power-Performance-Internal-SP512GBSS3A55S25/dp/B07997QV4Z/
It was even cheaper (~20%) before COVID-19 for QLC ssd without RAM. Works great for this game. ( i have 256 GB SSD for 20$ bought before covid )
You dont need "Samsung" quality for game data. Just use shop with good warranty. ( 2-yr minimum in Europe + extra 3yr optional manufacturer's warranty on some drives )

There's 3 main types of memory chips:
- MLC - Best quality, lasts the longest (Samsung Pro, many older SSDs)
- TLC - Average, lasts 1/3 to 1/2 as long (Samsung Evo, WD, Silicon Power A55, most SSDs)
- QLC - budget, lasts 1/6 as long (Samsung QVO)
SATA is a 15 year old technology, and it's the weak spot for all the SSDs with performance. All the SSD options for your laptop are limited to 550 megabytes per second because of SATA.
The Evo and WD Blue are both good SSDs, but I'd personally go with the Silicon Power A55 simply because it's one of the best values:

this is more in line with what you would have paid for a 512gb SSD several years ago
https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-512GB-V-NAND-Solid-MZ-76P512BW/dp/B07836C6YV/
you can go on amazon find:
https://www.amazon.com/Silicon-Power-Performance-Internal-SP512GBSS3A55S25/dp/B07997QV4Z/
That's almost a $90 price difference for a "512" Gb SSD. I'm not saying RAW NAND hasn't gone down in price at all i'm just saying saying a REAL 512Gb will cost more than $60. i remember when most all 512Gbs costs $150-$170 several years ago.

Tutorial of how to install SSD
https://eshop.macsales.com/installvideos/imac_mid27_2010_ssddiy/
The SSD I used:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07997QV4Z/ref=ppx_yo_mob_b_track_package_o1_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1
SSD cable connector:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00BOVR2LY/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Ram that works:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00L3QF212?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
Note on this: Apple said that you can only instal 4x 4gb ram but I successfully installed 4x8gb ram.
Ram installation instructions are on your iMac. Super simple just pull old out and put new in.
Installation suction cups:
https://www.amazon.com/Kaisiking-Suction-Computer-Compatible-MacBook/dp/B077QP2QG5/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_tab_ap_asin_title
You might need some specialized screwdrivers it looks like a 5 sided star, had some leftover from Nintendo switch kit here they are:
https://www.amazon.com/Triwing-Screwdriver-Nintendo-Professional-Security/dp/B07633NLRV/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_tab_ap_asin_title
High Sierra is the highest supported compatible software but it works great!
Hope this helps. These are literally all the things you need to take 2010 iMac to 2020 level and have it outperform any other computer as far as medschool needs go.

Recently, NVMe prices have been fairly close to SATA prices, from what I've seen. For example, here is a $54.99 512GB NVMe SSD: https://www.amazon.com/Silicon-Power-512GB-Gen3x4-SP512GBP34A60M28/dp/B07ZGJYLNL/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=silicon+power+512gb+nvme+m.2+2280+pcie+gen3x4+tlc+ssd&qid=1598613376&sr=8-1. And here is a $46.99 SATA SSD: https://www.amazon.com/Silicon-Performance-Interno-unidad-SP512GBSS3A55S25/dp/B07997QV4Z/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&fst=as%3Aoff&keywords=512gb+ssd&qid=1599058869&refinements=p_n_feature_three_browse-bin%3A14027459011%2Cp_89%3ASP+Silicon+Power&rnid=2528832011&s=pc&sr=1-1
(There are also $54.99 512GB SATA SSDs, and ones that are more expensive, but I saw this SSD recently and didn't want to scroll through amazon/newegg for 30 seconds, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
It is 8$ more, but with how fast NVMes are, I would pay $8 for it. ESPECIALLY with Nvidia's 30 series GPUs.

for gaming I would reccomend you buy a better gpu such as this
its $5 over $600 but its much better for gaming. also get rid of that hardrive and buy a small ssd and when it gets full buy another hdd for like 20 or 50 bucks.
this is the ssd I would recommend https://www.amazon.com/Silicon-Power-Performance-Internal-SP512GBSS3A55S25/dp/B07997QV4Z/ref=sr_1_16?dchild=1&keywords=ssd&qid=1597021694&sr=8-16
after a while it should fill up so you can buy like a https://www.amazon.com/Seagate-BarraCuda-Internal-Drive-3-5-Inch/dp/B07H2RR55Q/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=2tb+hdd&qid=1597021757&sr=8-3

Right now we're at around 570-575. You're even left with money to buy a keyboard/mouse combo and a basic monitor if you don't have those (a TV can act as your monitor) and even maybe a controller depending what models of each of those you want to buy. That enough evidence for Mr. Brain. You have so many arguments against me you'll rebuke even the most basic assumptions made by me until I provide links yet you provide absolutely no proof of anything you say and even go so far as making statements that are completely oblivious once again to basic economics. Please tell me why, economically, for the survival of the company and for its sales revenues, it would make sense to revive a license ten years after if there's no interest.
Why even bring in Banjo and Kazooie in Smash if there's no interest. You understand hype, marketing and that kind of thing right ? Seems to me you don't. So now unless you have any reasonable explanation backed by logical and sensible statements and even links or at least based on common knowledge about any of the field we're talking about, I will not be discussing this issue further with you. If not, you'll give me one more good laugh, me the "oh-so-triggered" one
