Why would you get this when a P34A60 costs $5 less and has faster read/write speeds? How is this a deal?

I'm planning to buy this one instead: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZGJVTZK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_-1AxFbGB66X1T

Thank you so much for the advice!

And currently there is no point in getting that 1TB $200 NVME when you can get a $110 1TB NVME which will perform the same in current PC games.

Okay then this would be a ton cheaper

I appreciate the insight. So something like this would be just fine?

Looking nice! Well you will be needing a monitor and keyboard & mouse. And I suggest this ssd instead: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZGJVTZK/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_MiIXEbN9C4J0Z. Its m.2 nvme for about same price and much faster.

This, but pretty much all nvme SSDs at 1tb are around 100. I just got this since it was cheap and reviews mentioned laptops.

Lenovo's ssd prices are horrifically bad. $719 for a 1tb upgrade???? That's nearly the price of the whole laptop!!

I would recommend going with a 1TB NVMe. $79 for 512GB is not a good value, in my opinion.

The Silicon Power 1TB - NVMe M.2 PCIe Gen3x4 2280 TLC SSD is a good value, currently at $92.

$114 for 1tb. Not as good as the Samsung drive, but 98% of the performance at 1/2 the price https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZGJVTZK?th=5

Also check out r/buildapcsales for shit tons of deals on parts (bunch of highly rated 500gb drives on there recently around $70, and 1tb for $120 every dayish)

by the way, that M.2 SSD is a SATA SSD not an NVME one. Which is fine for a lot of people, but you're not getting the legendary speeds everyone's obsessed about.

Silicon Power has comparable cost 1TB NVMEs: https://www.amazon.com/Silicon-Power-NVMe-Gen3x4-SP001TBP34A60M28/dp/B07ZGJVTZK/ https://www.amazon.com/Silicon-Power-Gen3x4-000MB-SU001TBP34A80M28AB/dp/B07L6GF81L/

There's the Silicon Power A60 which is 1TB, cheaper, and 4x faster than the fastest SATA drives:
https://www.amazon.com/Silicon-Power-NVMe-Gen3x4-SP001TBP34A60M28/dp/B07ZGJVTZK

For less than the EVO, the A80 model is 6x faster.

If you're using Ethernet, I would recommend the Asus Strix B550-F because it has the best Ethernet controller among the B550 boards.

If you're using WiFI, all of Asus' B550 boards with WiFi have the Intel AX200 which is the latest and greatest WiFi card.

Unless you're doing a lot of video editing, there's little reason to get the 970 EVO plus. For most people, a cheaper SSD like the Silicon Power A60 is fine and you get twice the capacity for similar cost. You can also get a slightly cheaper and better cooled case

Also, just get 3200 MT/s CL16 RAM. The money saved can get you a GTX 1660 Super which is much more worth the extra money than marginally faster RAM.

I'd use something like the Silicon Power A80 over the BX500, your mobo has Nvme PCIe 3.0 x4 support so you may as well take advantage of it for about the same price. ($8 more)

Or even the Silicon Power A60 is faster than the BX500 for less money.

As most will say, you'll not really notice the extra speeds in daily usage but who knows if we'll need those faster read speeds for future console ports since both new consoles have pretty fast Nvme drives.....and if it costs around the same price why not go for the faster drive.

Motherboard is fine, but I would recommend switching the 1 TB 2.5” SSD for a 1 TB NVMe SSD. Silicon Power and Sabrent both offer NVMe SSDs that are cheaper, are faster, and cut down on cable clutter.

Check out the other 1TB nvme drive deals, on Amazon there are a few which are similar speed/grade (ie. 1,800-2,000+ MB/s type) around the USD$90-$100 mark too.

Some examples:

Costs $250 for one of the most basic 2tb NVME SSDs Vs a $110 1tb and an actually comparable in terms of speed pcie gen 4 NVME costs $400 for 2tb.

> I'd personally go for a cheaper 1-2 TB 2.5 inch drive

1TB NVME (Silicon Power and Western Digital) and SATA 2.5 (ADATA and PNY)are both within ~$10 of each other. 2TB NVME (Island Professional) can be had even cheaper than 2TB SATA (Sandisk).

I keep checking to see if there is ever a significant discount with the 2.5in SSD, but for a while they have been only worth grabbing if you don't have any available m.2 slots.

  • Or should I just go straight for the Crucial P2 at it's current price point?

Why do people recommend a sata SSD over a cheap/budget NVMe SSD?

I am shopping for storage right now. I have seen a lot of people recommend a sata SSD because "NVMe drives are more expensive and most people won't need the extra performance".

While I was shopping, I noticed some of the budget NVMe drives still claim much higher speeds than sata SSD drives at comparable prices. Why would people still choose a sata SSD over the budget NVMe drives that appear to be faster.

This is an honest question. I am not an expert and I feel like I am missing something. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Examples: I have seen these two sata SSDS recommended a few times.
