Its just the 2.5 inch gaming 2tb drive. Some reviewers bash them but its been good for me so far, my ps4 would freeze and bug out all the time before. It also comes with a 5 year warranty so that kind of sealed the deal for me. If your looking for something more reliable id probably just get the samsung evo 1tb, i just wanted more bang for my buck
1 points • MadMike22089
That's pretty standard price for 2TB these days, but it should work pretty well for your PS4. If you want something that's going to be an upgrade over the stock HDD, I'd recommend checking out something like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H2F3741/ It's a solid state hybrid drive. It's a little more expensive, but it should result in faster loading times compared to the stock drive. Digital Foundry did a comparison using this model that looked like a significant improvement.

Well, first try initializing your current drive.
If that fails, I recommend this as a replacement:

Honestly the pricing of a 2.5” 7200rpm drive is between a hdd and an ssd which might be more than worth it if your not wanting to spend much. I would recommend a sshd; its a 5400 rpm drive with memory chips which improve performance after multiple loads. The max performance is at the 5th load. On the listing its posted as a 7200 rpm drive but looking in the manual it isnt.

$15 cheaper than the "official" one sold on the MS website, made by the same company, same specs. 2TB is a great upgrade. Even more so if you're coming from a 500GB One S. Wouldn't recommend a 1TB drive even if you've only got the 500GB model, it's only the cost of a dinner out for double the capacity.

Nice bro. If you are going to use the 2tb HDD as ur game drive, then I would recommend a getting an sshd- its much faster and will keep your sanity. Good SSHD

Is there any reason to get a drive like this over a cheaper option like the Seagate Firecuda for a secondary drive (storage/games)? Or is it a waste of money for the application?

My problem with SSD's are that it is super expensive for a high-ish storage space. I am really considering the firecuda though. It seems fast according to reviews and on a rather good sale. My main concern was if it was going to fit in the computer though.
1 points • Bocaprowler
See more BS like I said, also you should really get your rpm speeds correct, you are all over the place, it's 7200rpm, not 7500. Also, you keep going on about how a 7200 (or 7500 as you keep stating) is faster than a sshd. Again, you are uninformed, go look at the specs of the 2tb sshd, it is 7200rpm. I was saving that one for the end, I just wanted you to dig deeper into your stupid reason for dismissing them.
https://www.amazon.com/Seagate-FireCuda-Gaming-Accelerated-Performance/dp/B07H2F3741/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=2tb+sshd&qid=1582381421&sr=8-3
It says it in the description in case you don't believe.
Anyway, if you want to leave 1 more reply here I will allow it, even though I know it will be more stupidity. I am done with this back and forth since there is nothing else for you to say.

This seems like a pretty balanced system IMO. I did see one criticism about your Samsung drive. They are great drives but maybe opt for something cheaper at a bigger capacity?
For example: you could grab a 2TB Firecuda for the same price as that Samsung and you're still getting good speeds out of it since it's a hybrid drive. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H2F3741/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_8wOqEbAE39NH9

Here's a popular one for PS4: https://www.amazon.com/Seagate-FireCuda-Gaming-Accelerated-Performance/dp/B07H2F3741
Overall a little faster than the stock drive, but slightly less reliable. If it's reliability (and speed) you want, then I'd go for any 1TB SSD from a reputable company (for around $100):

For context, I'm not super tech-savvy, I just want to be able to play Steam and Blizzard games on my laptop. All I know is that it's a Lenovo P50 with Windows 10 64 bit, 8 GB RAM, and Intel Core i7-6700 processor. I bought an external hard drive because I was running out of space on my laptop, but none of the games work anymore now that I moved them to the external hard drive. I'm returning the external hard drive and thinking about buying a Seagate FireCuda Gaming 2TB SSHD.
If anyone could answer some or all of these questions, I would greatly appreciate it!
- Is my laptop compatible with the Seagate SSHD?
- Will the SSHD allow me to play FPS without lag?
- Would someone like me (working knowledge of computers, but not exactly proficient) be able to replace the hard drive on my laptop, or would I have to find someone else to do it?
- If all of this works out and I move my games from the external hard drive onto the new SSHD, will I have to redownload them and/or will I lose all my save files?

I actually have a 500gb SSD but I was thinking of getting a hard drive to keep all my games on. Probably this one https://www.amazon.com/Seagate-FireCuda-Gaming-Accelerated-Performance/dp/B07H2F3741/ref=sr_1_2?crid=1TOMO5HTZCYHS&keywords=firecuda%2B2tb&qid=1583624862&sprefix=firecuda%2Caps%2C160&sr=8-2&th=1. Its on a 30 dollar sale and I heard that Seagate was a good brand. Since you say upgrade my GPU first do you have any recomendations.

It’s a really simple process and probably takes about 20 minutes to do and there are plenty of YouTube videos to watch if you want to be sure you’re doing it right. You just need a screwdriver and a 2GB (maybe 4?) flash drive to reinstall the firmware. I had an external HDD so I transferred the games I wanted over there so I wouldn’t have to redownload them.
I have PS+ so my game saves were backed up to the cloud, but if you have accounts that are not PS+ make sure you manually back them up on the flash drive. I accidentally deleted my GFs save data for Everybody’s golf and I’m not sure if she’s forgiven me yet.
I don’t know exactly how much I paid but I bought this HDD in the link. Whatever you buy just make sure it’s a laptop 2.5 inch drive and NOT a 3.5 inch drive. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H2F3741/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_31DkEbWM2G1WY
Here is the link to the firmware and also a description of the process directly from Sony. Make sure you read the naming convention for the folders on the flash drive as the PS4 is looking for specific format. https://www.playstation.com/en-gb/get-help/ps4-system-software/

Why external?
Internal can offer faster speeds and more storage for a few dollars more.

Most people would tell you to go SSD all the way. They are incredibly reliable and faster than both HDD and SSHD. SSHDs do not get the full benefits of an SSD. Yes there are some, but not all. The big difference is price, but unless that is extremely important I would still go with SSD. All disks degrade when you start to use them. But that takes years and years to notice an effect. You can go with an SSHD if you want. You just have to find one that, I believe is a SATA 2.5 inch for your model laptop, to fit right. I don’t deal with SSHD or HDD anymore because better speeds are more important for me, and my laptops are moved a lot, so if they get bumped around, that could be a problem for HDDs and SSHDs which have moving parts.
Here is a good video to help you see the difference win the three drives:
https://youtu.be/6iBhf8rpobo
For a SSHD that should work for you, by a good brand, with decent size and low price:

Im not sure. I never messed with the SSHD's. And you still need to read the fine print, its not necessarily high rpm. its sometimes a mix, like a very small ssd , but a slow drive.
If I'm reading the comments correctly its an 8GB ssd and the rest 2TB on a 5400rpm drive.
pcie nvme drives are very fast, but from what I saw recently the speed differences on paper for nvme vs sata3 are big however in practice its not that noticeable.
like 1 second vs half a second is a 50% difference, HUGE, but you as a human won't really see that.
I have nvme in my desktop and it seems just about the same as the 512gb Sata I had, hence I decided to move the sata to the ps4. I had a 256ssd in it already but was getting tired of bouncing games between that and the 2tb external.

Damnit, the amazon page (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07H2F3741/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_slice_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1) says 7200 RPM for the one I was looking at and didn't even see the 5400 in the title from PC Part Picker. Do you know if the hybrid drives like this are worth it?
Speakers I'll figure out too, but should mostly be headset usage.

Awesome build with lots of options to upgrade in the future. I would suggest an SSHD instead of the 1TB HDD if you have the budget only an extra $20.
