SanDisk

This is on their “approved” compatibility list and still giving me issues. I just ordered a different card that a friend has had no trouble with on his Hero7. Does the Hero8 have this issue?

I have one for my main TV. Installed a 128GB SD card as adoptable storage. Works great. I run Kodi on it for local media and stream everything else Disney+, Netflix, YouTube, YouTube TV.... No complaints, only praise.

Huh. Guess it's a walmart exclusive.

The V30 rating means it's certified for 30 MB/s continious write speeds, so as long as your bitrates are lower than that you'll be good.

30 MB/s = 240 Mbps. That's reasonably fast - it could handle CinemaDNG 4k 30p raw video out of a BMPCC4k.

The equivalent Sandisk Extreme card is a little bit cheaper on Amazon though

I'm running a 128GB card. This one specifically, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FCMKK5X/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Not sure on the max size, that was the largest I had on hand to try.

Mine has around 80 games on it which is nearly full.

And I found the hero 7 for $146 so not bad. I'm in my budget ish so far!

Even game carts to some extent take up memory space, because of updates, dlc and needing to install some game data to the system itself.

You can do one or two things, uninstall games your no longer playing, or buy a memory card. You can get them for a good price. For an example you can get a 128gb for $20 bucks. https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-128GB-Extreme-microSD-Adapter/dp/B07FCMKK5X/ref=sr_1_4?crid=30QG11SBRC8FP&dchild=1&keywords=sandisk+sd+card+128gb&qid=1606845643&sprefix=Sandisk+sd+%2Caps%2C176&sr=8-4

Can you tell me what qualifies as professional grade? I was trying to use one of these (https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-128GB-Extreme-microSD-Adapter/dp/B07FCMKK5X/) for teslacam for a while and had the "usb drive slow" error all the time. Now I use this SSD (https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-500GB-Extreme-Portable-External/dp/B078SWJ3CF/) and still get it occasionally (maybe once every couple weeks?).

I have also tried using USB flash drives, SD cards, of all brands/sizes for MP3 music and I constantly have issues with the audio cutting out mid song, throwing loading errors, or outright not reading the music drive for ~5 minutes after I first get in the car.

I had Tesla mobile service come out and look at my USB ports and they just said "they're fine... must be your drives," so I've thrown away hundreds of new drives of various types/brands and get pretty much the same result with each.

Trying to get this 5th gen restored and I keep getting error 1429 in iTunes. I’ve tried with two different brand new 128gb micro sd cards (Sandisk Extreme V30 & Sandisk Ultra U1 ) Both I have tried fresh and reformatted to Fat32 following the guide on the iFlash site.

I’ll plug it in and windows will pop up saying it can’t recognize the drive and asks to reformat the same time as iTunes pops up saying it’s detected in recovery mode and asks me to restore it. I’ll try to restore and it will hang on the loading bar for a few seconds before saying it encountered an error (1429).

I’ve made sure the zif cable is in as far as I feel comfortable pushing it in. Just not sure where to go at this point.

Problems booting from sd card

Hi all,I needed to switch distro (the pre-installed Manjaro isn't working for some of the software I need to use for work) and decided to follow these instructions to install MrFixIt200's Ubuntu img. I flashed it to a 128GB SanDisk Extreme MicroSD.However, when I started my pinebook right now I was not able to boot from the SD - it went straight to boot Manjaro from the eMMC. I read somewhere before (unfortunately I can't seem to be able to find the page anymore) that the Pinebook Pro normally prefers the SD for booting (when one is plugged in) over the eMMc. This doesn't seem to be the case here. So I wonder how I proceed and what I can do to make it boot from the SD.

Admittedly I'm a complete Linux beginner, so chances are pretty high I did a beginner's mistake or am not thinking of something to do to fix this.

I highly appreciate if it someone could point me to my next steps or maybe to a more detailed guide / tutorial already available online. Thanks.

edit: I took another look at the PINE64-Wiki's NOOB Page, but couldn't find the information I need - but feel like it should be there. So I'm assuming there is something fundamental that I don't know or that I'm misunderstanding.

Yes yesterday morning I had the same error message. https://i.imgur.com/6PgarBB.jpg I’m using SanDisk 128GB Extreme MicroSDXC... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FCMKK5X?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share. I didn’t have anything significant to save so I did format the card although it likely wasn’t necessary.

So I pulled the trigger and got the same Sandisk Extreme 128GB A2 classified microsd card and tested it in the Nvidia Shield TV (2019) against an older Sandisk Extreme 64 GB (pre A1 A2 classification).

The only program I could get to work well in the Shield was Disk Speed Test. It is a basic test, did not give any specifics (although it did produce a log file I did not want to hunt down), and especially did not give info on random read and writes ... but it is a standard for comparison nonetheless.

Older Sandisk Extreme 64 GB (pre A1/A2 classification) 63 MB/s Read 24 MB/s Write

Sandisk Extreme 128GB A2 78 MB/s Read 62 MB/s Write

I ran tests on both cards 3 times each and the results hovered around the same with +- 3 MB/s. If I was writing and article I would have dug more into the test and taken averages, but this is enough for me.

It never answered my question about A2 compatibility, and I am not sure if Disk Speed Test is the best standard ... but it is the only program I could find to work and it gave me some results. I hope this helps someone else.

That's not worth $110. 256 + 16 GB is worth about $60-70 new on Amazon. I personally use exclusively SanDisk and use two 128GB Extreme Plus cards on my a6400. Coincidentally, that's exactly what this article recommends. (The only difference between Extreme/Extreme Plus is Plus is only available in physical stores.) I have two 128GB cards so I can swap them every month but you can buy one 256GB card from Amazon for the same price. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FCMKK5X/

Something like the Sandisk Extreme would be the best performance for the Switch, but I don’t think I’d really recommend it over the Sandisk Ultra because the improvement doesn’t seem to be that much. Digital Foundry did a test if you’re interesting and seeing the difference.

Thanks for the response! Yeah I'm thinking of going the USB route now. Do I just format an external drive as a Mac disk image in disk utilities, and install the Mac OS on it?

Would this work with a USB flash drive like the Samsung Bar: https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-BAR-Plus-128GB-MUF-128BE3/dp/B07BPK3XWW/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=samsung%2Bbar&qid=1607903621&sr=8-2&th=1

or a microSD card : https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FCMKK5X/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_4?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

or: does it have to be a specific kind of external hard drive?

Regarding: virtual machines: the ProctorU software detects them so that won't be an option, or they won't run on them.

The transfer speed for the Nintendo one is 100 MB/s, which is on par with what Nintendo says is supported for the Switch, where they recommend 60-95 MB/s. The one that's $15 from Amazon currently is the "ultra", which says it has transfer speeds of 120 MB/s. The "extreme" that you mention for $20 has transfer speeds of 160MB/s. So really both of them exceed the Nintendo branded one.

Yes, you can get the microSD cards. Amazon regularly puts the cards on sale and you’ll usually find it cheaper on amazon vs in retail store. I’ll edit this to post some I recommend I included the cards I used and work fines for my switch after 6+ months of use.

What we mean by “overpriced” are the officially licensed ones with the Switch logo on the card as they were priced 2-3 times the normal SanDisk ones

Samsung 128 GB $21.99

Samsung Evo Plus 128 GB $22.25

SanDisk Ultra 128 GB $19.99

SanDisk Extreme 128 GB $21.99

Silicon Pro 128 GB $16.99
