Yes the switch has a slot for a micro sd xc card lol...it’s right underneath the kick stand that stands the console up.
I bought this one and it works fine: link

I'm using this card Samsung 256GB 100MB/s (U3) MicroSDXC EVO Select Memory Card with Adapter (MB-ME256GA/AM) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072HRDM55/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_o1D8rJcxVp835
I didn't face any problem with the card, until I used 150GB of 256GB. My Insta 360 one X started showing Insufficient speed when recording at 5.7k 30fps. But, I faced it only few times.
Even now, I didn't clear the data on the card. But worked fine until recorded a long video while I went for Parasailing.
Not sure whats the scenario to cause insufficient speed.

Any micro sd will work. I got the one below. I have 2 in my N3DSXL (1 in the system ,1 in a flash cart), 1 in my Wii, 1 in my current phone, and 1 in my mom's phone.

Get a 256gb card, they're an extra $15 or so. This runs games flawlessly and has enough room incase you want to add a bunch of stuff at once. Also, run your crw in the emummc only. Allegedly running on sysnand raises your risk on being banned.

I got 128gb and 256gb (256 is for my ps vita) cards of this which is rated u3. I don't know anything about sd card ratings, is this good?
1 points • Jozef-Pilsudski
You can definitely use a dashcam for that. Depending on the length of your trip, I'd suggest buying a large SD card for that. If it's a multiday trip I'd suggest also having a laptop to offload the video to it.
I'd go with the A119 V3. It's great quality for the money. But also what resolution are you looking to do it at? 4k?

I bought this Samsung card for $5 more than the one you linked, and it is working great.
I'm loading all my games on there as I'm going all digital, and I don't see any noticeable difference in loading games like Smash or Mario Odyssey in comparison to the internal storage.

Keepa says this listing has only been there for 29 days too with this being the cheapest.
There's a different listing here that shows 27.99 lowest but is a different model.
No idea the differences just the new one is a HA and the old one is a GA

What do you think about this one? Are Samsung SD cards as good as SanDisk? I have $5 Prime credit so after taxes it ends up costing me $29
1 points • scaredsprout
I just bought this one. 256gb and currently on sale, so much cheaper than the Nintendo branded SD cards. Lots of reviews and questions from people who are using it in their switch, and it's supposedly one of the faster SD cards.
It does come with an adapter that you obviously won't be using for the switch, but I couldn't find a version without that.

Installed mine on a 256gb and so far so good. I bought the Samsung Evo and it works straight outta the box. I'm using mine for a retro gaming center so it's more than enough space for what I need.

I purchased mine around Christmas. Works Great. I actually got mine off Amazon from a reputable seller. [Here's the link] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072HRDM55/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). I think i got it on sale for like $30 or something. Still would recommend brick and mortar store. You just never know with SD card purchases online.

Amazon is easiest, all you need to do is insure its being sold by Amazon or the SD card manufacturer.
If you look under the "buy now" button, it will tell you whom its sold by.

256 is down to about 40 bucks now, and should be all you'll ever need for indie games, updates, etc.

What are the most reliable 256 gb micro sd cards for Galaxy S9+?

I've used this card and both the original card I used AND the replacement for it corrupted on me (the first one in only a week, this replacement card in two months). This seriously pisses me off because I know the exact same kind of card, albeit a 128 gb one, works just fine and it's been since last year since I originally ordered that card. It's definitely not the seller because both the 128 and 256 cards are both shipped and sold by amazon. I'm thinking that the 256 gb version of that card is destined to fail after a short time period.

All online multiplayer games require the Nintendo online subscription.
Buy a microSD card from a reputable source. Sandisk and Samsung are good brands. If the deal seems too good to be true, it usually is and the card is a fake.
Don’t waste money on the official, branded Switch card.
The Samsung EVO Select is the same as the EVO Plus in terms of quality. It’s just exclusive to Amazon, so it has a slightly different name. I have the Plus, and I’ve purchased the Select as a gift. No issues.
Samsung 256GB 100MB/s (U3) MicroSDXC EVO Select Memory Card with Full-Size Adapter (MB-ME256GA/AM) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072HRDM55
It goes on sale often, and I’ve seen it as low as the mid-$20 range.
Personally, I like a 256 GB card. If you think 128 GB will be enough for you, then go for that one. If you’re going all-digital in terms of games, you’ll want a larger card.

The micro sd card that failed on me was a Sandisk, so I ended up buying a Samsung Evo Plus micro sd for my dash cam and my Samsung Galaxy phone. Both still haven't failed on me, I've actually had a Sandisk fail on my dashcam and phone so I am only using Samsung now. But the memory card you bought looks legit, I will probably end up buying this one if my memory card ever fails on me.

Sandisk Ultra and Samsung Evo Select are perfect cards for the Switch. You don’t really need anything more expensive than those
Both of these will give a very similar experience, so I recommend going for whichever is cheaper

Ya make sure you compare price to other stores and sellers because buying the cheapest means it's going to be fake.
For example I was looking for a 400GB card, they go for around £65 compared to all other well know shops, now there are sellers on amazon and ebay that list them at half the price or even lower, they are fake.
Make sure you check who the seller is and any reviews, make sure its branded with well know brands like San Disk, Samsung or Toshiba.
It seems that 256GB card goes fro around $40-50, here are some I found on amazon US and sold directly from amazon themselves.
San Disk: https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-256GB-microSDXC-Memory-Adapter/dp/B0758NHWS8/ref=mp_s_a_1_7?dchild=1&keywords=256gb+sd+card&qid=1592409694&sr=8-7

You do have to have a USB adapter for the microSD, then it just plugs into the USB-A port (next to your USB-C port if you have a new-ish model).
I used these two and it has been working great so far:

You can a better price for a microSD card. On Amazon you can a 128 GB for $19.99 or the 256 GB for the about same price as the Nintendo branded 128 GB.
Also a word of advice if you’re looking for a 256 GB on Amazon and see that the San Disk one is three cents cheaper than the Samsung one, don’t buy that one. The Samsung’s microSD card are U3 while San Disk has U1. U3 has a faster write speed of 30 mb/s and U1 has write speed of 10 mb/s which can affect the loading times and download speeds.

Why not buy a better rated UHS-3 card? The extra speed rating could come handy, if you use the card for other devices.

> MUCH better than SD
I have 6 of the Pi4 8GB units, Samsung 256GB EVO SD cards and 6 Lexar JumpDrive S47 128GB USB drives. When I boot SD or USB, my read and write tests (benchmarked with 'dd' and doing a drop_caches and sync between each run) are about 10x faster than yours. I'm seeing ~235Mb/sec reads and about ~170Mb/sec write. The USB and SD card are each within ~1Mb/sec of each other.
My Pi cluster is shockingly fast. I'd probably be wondering what was wrong if mine were in the 20-50MB/second range. I can go from a 2 replica nginx cluster to a 30 replica cluster in ~15 seconds with 2 masters and 4 worker nodes.

I JUST looked up the difference between the two and from what I see I would definitely go Samsung S4 route. Seems the S4 has a better processor. Also would just invest in one of these and call it a day!

I've been looking into picking up one of these ultra-fast v60 or v90 sd cards myself, and at the moment I can't really justify the price.
I want them to use as seamless backups and boot drives for alternative OS's on my PC.... rather than just buying a big NVME drive.
With the added convenience of being able to use them in my cameras and with my switch.
The 100mb/s read/write models have gone down in pice so much now though the nintendo branded ones are among some of the cheapest medium grade units available. you can buy 64gb 100mb/s read/write drives for $10-30 depending on storage.
For a V90 drive though they seem capped at 64gb or 128gb and cost more than a first born son.
You can get a 256GB top of the line drive in the same class as the old nintendo sd cards for $35. Even the 256GB Nintendo ones aren't that bad at around $50 on amazon..

When you start venturing into this new tech though prices get different quick. The V30 marked devices seem to be really no different from the last generation of fastest cards, so they are about the same price or sometimes cheaper. Just do diligence to make sure they are up to snuff if you're paying less than the tried and true :)
https://www.amazon.com/Silicon-Power-Superior-microSDXC-MicroSD/dp/B07ZR44J3D/ref=pd_sbs_147_1/140-6885714-2348663
Here's a V90 one .... there are cheaper ones .. though most seem to be capped at 64gb and are charging at least $1/gb.
https://www.amazon.com/ADATA-Premier-Class10-Adapter-AUSDX128GUII3CL10-CA1/dp/B0727ZCVY9/ref=pd_sbs_147_4/140-6885714-2348663
So if my first post inspired you to buy the ultra fast latest and geatest V90 drives .. don't ... at least not until they ramp up production and prices nose-dive. Plus the first batch will probably have issues, etc anyways.

Wow, why in god's name is everyone using V90 cards on a GH5? A lot of people just sort price high to low and buy the most expensive choice thinking it's going to improve the footage or be more reliable...
The bitrate on 4k 60fps is 150 mbp/s, which is 18.75MB/S, so you need a card that can sustain a write speed of a bit more than 18.75 MB/S to not have interuptions. Good new is that is a LOT of cards these days, and if you stick to 150 mbp/s codecs then this is all you ever need for a GH5.
I personally have shot something like 10+ tb of footage on cheap adapted Samsung 128gb U3 cards with no issues at all. These cards have served me across something like 8 or more camera bodies and 6+ drones and action cams over the past few years and they never skip a beat as long as you're shooting in a codec that doesn't exceed their \~30 MB/S write speed.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072HRDM55/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
If you're dedicated to using your cameras faster bitrates you're going to need more than that, but the highest bitrates the GH5 outputs are its All-i codecs, which are 2-400mb/s, and that's \~ 25-50 MB/S sustained write... which is still just a V30 to V60 card (depending on the card). I've used speedy Sony V30 cards for the past few years with only 1-2 corruption issue across a similar spate of cameras (because I didn't reformat before use). These cards function fine in the S1H, GH5, GH5S, S1, even low bitrate BMPCC4K footage.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01D8H0D8A/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
V90 cards are impressive, they hit sustained write speeds of 90 MB/S, which is FAR more than the needs of the GH5, and they're really damn expensive too. The V number corresponds to the sustained write speed a card is guaranteed to hit in MB/S, just for your reference. Mbp/s is NOT the same thing, it's an order of magnitude smaller: 8 Bits in 1 Byte.
1 points • Deckardzz
My verdict: This card has no speed rating other than the obsolete "class 10" rating, which is extremely slow by current standards and requirements. In fact, it's so obsolete, that an entirely new class system has since been developed and this is no longer used, other than to be there for people to know it's certified for older devices which specified the memory must be "class 10."
Here's how big of a difference it is, and how slow "class 10" is now in today's standards...
- Class speeds: "One's" of MB/s of the minimum steady stream write/save data (Class 2 = 2 MB/s, Class 6 = 6 MB/s)
- Class 10 speed = 10 MB/s
- UHS speed class: "Tens" of MB/s of the minimum steady stream write/save data (Class 1 = 10 MB/s, Class 3 = 30 MB/s)
- UHS-1 speed (U1) = 10 MB/s
- UHS-3 speed (U3) = 30 MB/s
- V speed class: Actual number of MB/s of the guaranteed minimum sustained performance for recording video / steady stream write/save data (Class 30 = 30 MB/s, Class 60 = 60 MB/s)
- V30 speed = 30 MB/s
- V60 speed = 60 MB/s
- V90 speed = 90 MB/s
- Application Performance Class: At least 10 MB/s and a minimum IOPS (input/output operations per second) for reading and writing, determining whether apps stored on an SD card can be accessed without latency and delays between operations to read and write multiple times in succession
- A1 speed = 1500 read IOPS and 500 write IOPS
- A2 speed = 4000 read IOPS and 2000 write IOPS
Here's a nice chart: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SD_card#Class
(See also Speed)
What's important about speed ratings vs speed claims is that flash memory might be capable of 50 MB/s read and 40 MB/s write speeds, but not be capable of being certified for sustained 20 MB/s write speeds (claimed 40, not even certified of 20 at a sustained rate, which is necessary for video), hence only having a class 10 rating, certifying that it's capable of just 10 MB/s sustained write speeds. In that case, it might only reach 40 MB/s write speeds for an extremely short duration, such as one tenth of a second or even 10 seconds, meaning that if you attempt to save video onto the memory, it will stop working after either 1/10th of a second or after 10 seconds. That's why the above certifications are important.
How to find a microSD card
Here's how I would approach this..
In brief:
- First, assess what the minimum requirements are, and what is wanted to meet your goal (size, speed, reliability, etc.) and explore available options.
- Second, to check this item specifically, check for reviews of other items of this brand, and check the seller reviews and ratings.
- Third, scan/analyze this item and other items from the seller using available online tools that assess the legitimacy of the ratings/reviews and also show price history.
- Fourth, check other legitimate websites that sell items like this to see if any sell it. Start with Google Shopping perhaps, then some individual stores, like B&H, Newegg, Microcenter, Bestbuy, Walmart, then also Target (and make sure it's items sold by those store, not other sellers selling through those stores.)
- Fifth, check for reviews on YouTube and search the web in general for the specific brand. See if it's bigger, more known channels making reviews of this brand. See if anyone is includes the brand in a review of fake memory cards.
In more detail:
Step 1. Consider minimum requirements and what meets your goal:
- A. Minimum write speed (U rating, V rating, Class rating)
- B. Minimum read speed (usually not an issue as it's almost always higher than write speed)
- C. Standard vs High-Endurance memory needed (things that constantly write and re-write data, like dashcams, require high-endurance memory cards as standard cards are not designed for it and will fail prematurely with the amount of writing and re-writing data required for that use.)
- D. Capacity (storage space)
- E. Consider the actual usage: if it's for a phone and you know dumping most of the contents of your SD card every year is what can work for you, and you know you typically save less than 30 GB per year of pictures and video per year, and you're getting a new phone that takes pictures and video at higher resolution, thus higher file size - say twice the size per picture and video, then consider that a you might now use 60 GB per year with your new device, so a 128 GB card would be plenty of capacity with some extra buffer. (Also consider that the phone might store other data there, so you wouldn't want to get an outdated card that is only available at much slower speeds too, so yet another reason to not get small card, like 32 GB or 64 GB.)
- F. Consider the 'sweet spot' price per GB of cards. Don't just look up one size, like 128 GB, and buy it. The prices might be nearly the same for double the size. For example, the prices (of these non-endurance microSDXC flash memory cards) could look like this:
-- 32 GB for $8 Samsung Evo Select 32 U1 only U1 speed
-- 64 GB for $11 Samsung Evo Select 64 U3 (GA price: $25)
-- 128 GB for $20 Samsung Evo Select 128 U3 (GA price: $29)
-- 256 GB for $30 Samsung Evo Select 256 * (GA price: $50)
-- 400 GB for $75 SanDisk Extreme 400 C10, U3, V30, 4K, A2 ratings
-- 512 GB for $80 Samsung Evo Select 512 (GA price: $130)
-- 512 GB for $75 SanDisk Extreme 512 C10, U3, V30, 4K, A2 ratings
-- 1 TB for $230 SanDisk Extreme 1TB C10, U3, V30, 4K, A2 ratings
(Note - these are real prices gathered on November 23, 2020, using mostly Samsung Select EVO cards for a single-brand comparison, except for a one or two options. I contacted Samsung and learned that models ending in "HA" are models made/marketed for Amazon and are identical to the models ending in "GA," with no differences other than the model number. I suppose this is just to allow Amazon a lower price and to prevent Samsung and the brick and mortar stores from losing more money from selling the identical GA models through non-Amazon stores by preventing price matching since "the model numbers are different." (That sounds pretty sketchy.) Where both models exist, I list the GA pricing at the end, and for anyone on mobile, I'll make the GA price a link to it on Amazon in case you are in a brick and mortar store and want to price-match.)
Step 2. Since there are no or few reviews, check other products of the same brand for reviews:
-
A. In Amazon, click the brand link below the name of the item and narrow by category to the left to find others of the same brand and check them for reviews. Choose the products that are the most similar.
-
B. For this example, this product you asked about that has no reviews is similar to these other products by the same company:
-- SUPERDUODUO 256GB Micro SD Memory Card (Class 10)
--SUPERDUODUO 128GB Micro SD Card (Class 10)
- C. Check the ratings for the seller on the Amazon seller's page. For the example you provided, that's:
I didn't finish writing this up because it's taken a lot of time so far and I need to sleep.
To be continued... maybe..
(Maybe I'll turn this into its own post to help people shop.)
