Would this work as a usb hub with a 2 pro controller joycon charging docks, as well as a Bluetooth adapter? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JX1ZS5O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_8cabFbB7YZPV8
I need something with off switches because when the switch is docked, it randomly sends a power signal to the Bluetooth adapter, which then tries to connect to my Bluetooth headphones. It is a PITA when I’m using the headphones for something else and the connection drops because the headphones are trying to pair to the adapter, and I hope the off switch could prevent that since I’d only turn it on when I need Bluetooth for the switch.

I know how your feeling mate. I purchased this Sabrent 4 port USB hub and have had ZERO issues with it. Plus it allows you to independently select/deselect which ports are active on the USB connection. Hope this helps.

I would get something like this:
Sabrent 4-Port USB 3.0 Data Hub with Individual LED Power Switches | 2 Ft Cable | Slim & Portable (HB-UM43) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JX1ZS5O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_HG-gFbV6E5A6H
And just connect both the MIDI keyboard and audio interface via USB. My laptop luckily has 2 USB ports but I often need more than 2 so I use that hub. It will be far easier than trying to figure out how to run that MIDI keyboard through the audio interface if that’s even possible.

I agree. This is a really annoying feature. I had the 1st model launchpad and it turned off if ableton was closed. But with the launchkey mk3 and launchpad x it doesnt. I got a 4 port usb hub with on/off switches on each port like this...

An FYI for everyone, just bypassed the 7-14 error using this non-powered USB hub I had laying around. Even worked with the USB 3 extension I was using with the Index previously.
On a separate note, my left controller thumbstick sticks in the up position. The controllers are a big disappointment.

One way to do it is to disable "USB charging" or "USB on when power plugged in" on the laptop, so it doesn't send power to that USB port when the laptop is shut down or sleeping.
Another way is to buy a cheap USB hub with switches on the ports. Something like this:
https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-4-Port-Individual-Switches-HB-UM43/dp/B00JX1ZS5O/

Would a USB hub with switches work for your needs?
Something like this:

I imagine this could be used in-conjunction with an existing charge plug. The 4 port version less than 10 US dollars so is worth a try.

but you could always get a USB hub with switches on it like https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-4-Port-Individual-Switches-HB-UM43/dp/B00JX1ZS5O

Get one of these if you're too lazy to unplug a USB cable.

I kept encountering an issue where the USB ports no matter what change I made in the power settings simply wouldn't supply enough power consistently to keep my sensors powered. I'd encounter a frequent fuzz out when switching into the pass through mode, meaning my exterior cameras simply stopped working. I could resolved this unplugging and replugging back in but it would return to the same issue maybe 30 minutes later.
A permanent solution to this was buying this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JX1ZS5O/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Ensuring that power was always supplied to the active port regardless of draw.

[Review/Comparison] Virpil Constellation Alpha L + WarBRD vs VKB Modern Combat Grip + Gunfighter MK3
Gallery Here: https://imgur.com/a/1iKqAZ7
Short Summary:
Grips:
Both grips are very comparable with very minor pros and cons to each.
Bases:
The WarBRD Base Seems better built and allows for slightly angled grip connections for subtle ergonomic improvements in how you grip the stick.
.
I'm not a professional reviewer, but I've had a lot of people ask me about how the two devices felt, so I thought it would be a good idea to write up an in-depth review of both, since they seem to be hitting a similar form factor and similar price point.
THE REVIEW
Before we get into the meat of this comparison and review here's my history with these devices so far:
-
VKB Grip and base - Owned for about 6 months with extensive use (about 30+ hours a week). My games of choice are primarily Starcitizen and Star Wars: Squadrons. It is mounted to a Monstertech Swivel chair mount and connected to PC via a cheap USB Hub.
-
Virpil Grip and Base - Owned for about 1 month with extensive use (30+ hours a week), but is still too new to really rate it for long term wear and tear. Similar to the VKB, it is mounted to a Monstertech Swivel chair mount and connected to PC through the same cheap USB Hub.
My configuration:
- VKB - 300mm extension, SPACE-H Cams, and dual 50# springs on each cam
- Virpil - Aero soft-centered Cams (Stock), and heavy springs on each axis
COST:
- Virpil Constellation Alpha-L: 190 Euro + 19% VAT = 226 Euro
- Virpil WarBRD: 190 Euro + 19% VAT = 226 Euro
- Virpil Total: 452 Euro
- VKB Gunfighter MK3 + MCG W/twist combo: 449 Euro (VAT Incl)
As you can see, their advertised price points are nearly identical, and shipping was almost free since both companies had discounts and deals for combos and deals when I bought them. These are what I consider to be solid high end devices and their price puts it about in the middle of the upper tier cost for non-built-to-order HOTAS/HOSAS setups. You are definitely getting the build quality you pay for, assuming no QA errors (We'll get to that later)
Winner: Toss-up
GRIP:
I have slightly larger than average size hands for an adult guy (I wear size 8 gloves). The MCG is literally a perfect fit for my hands as far as the grip is concerned. It conforms as if it were molded exactly to my hand's size. The Constellation is just ever so slightly a bit small, but that's been something that is normal for me with joysticks. Most guy's hands should fit perfectly with the Constellation. They both have palm-side grip texture, but the MCG is just a bit deeper and feels "stickier" more like the knurling on a heavy barbell. I'm indifferent to how they actually feel, but some people may have a preference of one type over the other. Regardless, During extended play sessions which have had sweaty hands, I did not feel like either stick was slipping out of my hand due to lack of grippability.
Winner: VKB for larger than average hands.
ATTACHMENT OF GRIP TO BASE:
The Virpil has a cabled connector and locking/twist device which allows you to orient your stick rotated off center if you desire. I have about a 10 degree deflection which puts it in a very natural position for my hand to sit while at rest. The VKB uses some strange clamping screw setup which your really need to push firmly down to ensure good contacts between grip and base and tighten super-tight, maybe even using lock-tite. I've had my VKB come loose a couple times throughout what I consider normal use until I used lock-tite to make it more "permanent" You also can't slightly angle the VKB stick when you mount it due to it's design.
Winner: Virpil
BUTTONS
They are both very similar, with the constellation giving up one of the top buttons for a scroll wheel with press-down button. I like the scroll wheel, and with vJoy I can turn it into a second mouse wheel. My only gripe with it is that it relies on smooth rubber for grip instead of a textured rubber, so when my hands get sweaty I sometimes press down on the wheel button trying to scroll it. The grip on the thumb hat/stick is better ridged and angled on the VKB than the Virpil. I find that when I move the stick left on the virpil I am frequently pressing down simultaneously or slipping off onto the thumb rest. With the VKB I don't have this issue, and I think it's due to the fact that the VKB stick sits slights angled away from the grip and slightly above the thumb rest while the Virpil is parallel to the grip and on an equal height with the thumb rest.
Generally, VKB's "Head" of the stick is more spread out making me break my grip to reach the right most 2 buttons which Virpil's is a bit more compact so my grip stays firm when using all the hats/sticks/buttons. They both feature point-finger hats on the lateral side of the "head" but VKB's grip is far superior in keeping my finger from slipping around while manipulating it in all 4 directions, while I sometimes slip while trying to manipulate the constellation's 2-way hat.
Both feature 2-stage triggers with a flip up lever switch in front of them, however the Constellation allows you squeeze through the lever to activate the trigger making it behave like a 3-stage trigger if you desired. Both stages of both triggers are distinct and I've never accidentally activated the 2nd stage on either. The lever on the constellation is always on when flipped up, and the MCG is always on when flipped down.
There is slight variation in the placement of the grip body button, with the Constellation locating it on the front side for use with your pinky and the MCG locating it medially for use with your ring-finger. I've found that I'm squeezing the grip to activate it on the MCG, but deliberately pressing it with my pinky on the Constellation. One isn't necesarilly better or worse than the other for this, but I think I prefer the button push over squeezing.
The brake levers function as an additional axis for the grip. Despite being shorter in size, the Constellation has a longer range of motion, and so I can be much more precise with it than with the MCG.
Winner: Toss-up, but there are minor pros and cons to each.
BASES
The VKB Gunfighter has a separate box which the base plugs into, which you then plug into your PC via USB cable. With the Monstertech mounts this gets mounted directly underneath the mount and is easily forgettable. I do not know why they chose to have this separate from the base instead integrated directly to the base. There is an additional port for what I presume is a second device to plug into. The WarBRD is a solid single device base with the USB cable running directly from it. If you already own a Monstertech mount for either base, you can use it to mount the other brand's device with only 2 screws instead of 4, saving you some money if you are upgrading/side-grading your setups.
Both come with Rubber dust-covers to prevent dust from getting into the bases. This really is a must-have feature for any pet owners looking to get a stick. The pivot "center" for both sticks feels very different. On the WarBRD, it feels as if it is pivoting at the very top surface of the base giving a decent 4.5" of deflection without any extensions. The Gunfighter seems to have it's pivot point more towards the bottom of the base, and so only gives 2.5" of deflection without an extender. The 300mm extender more than doubles this deviation, allowing for 6" of deflection. All these deflections were measured from the top of the "head" of each stick.
The build quality of the Virpil seems to be better, based on the fact that it's internal supports are beefier than VKBs, perhaps even over-engineered (I am not an engineer. Pure speculation based on appearance). Also I had a bearing explode in my VKB due to a mis-placed washer (see photos), this catastrophic failure caused a grinding sensation along my X axis, which I did about 4 or 5 full movements of before stopping and disassembling to see what the issue was. In that short amount of time I caused a decent gouge on the cam from the high strength springs, and there was a chunk of the metal base that had been "bitten" into, again because I'm using two of the high strength, 50# springs per cam. The bearing was easily replaced from Amazon with over-night delivery, so I wasn't too upset. However, VKB customer service responded in less than 12 hours from filing my initial complaint, and were willing to send out replacement bearings and cams.
The Space-H Cams for the Gunfighter are lumpy and have a very well defined center, while the default avia-s has a definite center, but it also feels "soft" similarly, going to the outer limits of the cams, both the Space-H and Space-S have a nice smooth feel until you hit the limit, whereas both the Avia-S and Avia-H felt "squishy" and with heavy springs I was never sure if I ever really hit the limits of the cams. My understanding is that this is deliberate to give more of a fly-by wire for atmospheric flight, but doesn't suit me for space sims.
Virpil has similar cams, but you only get the Avia soft-centered (installed by default), and avia no-center (comes as an optional install). There is no "hard" centered cam for Virpil. I went with the heavy cams and Avia soft-centered cams. It's not as well defined as the Space-H on the Gunfighter, and because it's also trying to mimic fly-by-wire feel, it still has that "squishy" limit to it. I have ordered Virpil's CosmoSim soft-center (only soft center and no center options for cams), and hopefully it will get rid of that squishy edge and make it smooth until you hit the limit.
The gunfighter also allows for 2 springs per cam, so you can mix up your strength settings to a large combination for the perfect resistance. Virpil's WarBRD only has the heavy and light springs, and you only get one per set of cams, so the resistance customization isn't nearly as robust as VKBs. That being said, I really like the heavy springs resistance with the default Avia soft-centered cams. On the VKB side, with my extension, I felt like I had to use the heaviest springs possible on the Gunfighter since the combination of a heavier stick on top on a long handle made it too easy to deflect out of the middle just by resting my hand on the stick, even with the Space-H cams.
Winner: Virpil due to QA defect on my VKB, but I suspect VKB has the better cam and spring options.
COMPARISON SUMMARY BY CATEGORY
- Cost - Tie
- Grip - VKB
- Attachment of grip to base - Virpil
- Buttons - Tie
- Bases - Virpil
OVERALL
These are two very similar products that perform nearly identical. If it weren't for the QA mistake in my Gunfighter Base, I'd have said there was no clear "winner" for the bases too. If I could have my way I'd take the cam and spring feel of the VKB Gunfighter, the button layout and head of the Constellation, the MCG Thumbstick and pointer finger hat, and brake lever from the Constellation, mount it to the VKB grip body, and put a textured mouse wheel on the smooth rubber scroll wheel.

Here is my setup:
PS4, G29, V3’s, CSS
In order for this to work, I have to run a Drivehub with the Controller and the Wheel plugged in to their respective ports, and then I have to plug a USB hub into the ‘Accessory’ port on the Drivehub, and then I plug my V3’s and CSS into that USB hub (effectively adding more Accessory slots.)
Have you tried this?
1 points • TheBadWolf
I have one of these superglued to the bottom of my desk and it works just fine, not lag issues.

The Drivehub supports multiple accessories but it only has one port for them. So you’ll need to buy a USB hub if you want to add a handbrake. That’s what I’m running on my Drivehub, plug the hub into the accessory port.
This is the hub I’m using.

Sabrent 4-Port USB 3.0 Hub Issues

Just got this in the mail today. It worked for a few hours, a nice long Overwatch gaming session. Then it suddenly started making my keyboard malfunction. Upon booting my PC(Alienware 15 R4), everything works fine. then suddenly things get wonky after 10 or so minutes. On my keyboard(razer cynosa chroma) The lights were on but the keys weren't typing. Oddly enough, I could still effectively use Ctrl+Alt+Del to pull up task manager but nothing else. My mouse(razer naga trinity) also messes up after a while. The scroll wheel will start zooming my desktop and webpages instead of scrolling. If I log out and log back in, it fixes it for a few minutes, but I need consistent use. Any ideas??? This is weird and frustrating.

Here's my current setup. I'm using this OTG cable and this USB hub, both of which I originally purchased for my SNES classic. Here, I have both a 3-button controller and an 8bitdo 2.4G wireless controller plugged into the hub, together with a Sandisk USB 3.0 drive where I have all my files. Emulation Station (seen on the screen), RA, and PL all recognize the two controllers.
