Can you link it? The one I see on amazon rn is $104.99 https://www.amazon.com/SK-hynix-Gold-NAND-Internal/dp/B07SNHB4RC

If I didn’t have to buy a caddy for the M15 I would get this one since SK Hynix comes OEM

This guys on sale rn, pretty good deal.
Not sure if youre trying to go sata or m.2 though, pretty sure m.2 is a little faster.

Assuming this is the Sapphire line from Hyundai the Newmaxx spreadsheet indicates it does not (though the 960G variant isn't specifically listed).
Probably better off just going with the SK Hynix 1TB at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SNHB4RC for the minimal price difference.
Edit: Looks like deal of the day is over at Amazon on the Hynix. https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapcsales/comments/iuf8hj/ssd_sk_hynix_gold_s31_1tb_3d_nand_25_inch_sata/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf would have been the deal yesterday.

That's simply unrealistic. A 1 TB SSD with that kind of speed on the consumer market is already around $150 (Hynix Gold ). Getting a CUSTOM unit that's nearly 2 TB would be widely expensive. Sony also wouldn't want to segregate their production this early on, especially with the COVID-19 situation affecting production of many electronics.

Is there another SSD you recommend? I ended up getting the B450 Aorus pro wifi board, and it's working great, except it isn't recognizing the Samsung SSD.
Would this work: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SNHB4RC/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apa_i_1uJlEbKB17NFA ?

If your going to use that drive you could save some money and get this.
You won’t really notice a famine difference between these two but in workloads you would.

Also I’m confused on brackets... does it come with everything I need or is there a particular bracket I need to purchase for it to fit?

How would this be for an SSD SK hynix Gold S31 1TB 3D NAND 2.5 inch SATA III Internal SSD https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SNHB4RC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_7UmqEbD7WDXN7 . And could it possibly be the fact that I have all the fans set to 100%?

Both the WD Blue ($100) and Gold S31 ($100 on Amazon with coupon) are respectable SATA drives with DRAM.
However, if you don't need extra storage now, SSD (and RAM) prices have been falling and will continue to go down through the end of the year. In other words, waiting is the best option if you are able to do so—you'll find better deals closer to the holidays.

If you're looking for a SATA SSD The Crucial MX500 or the SK Hynix Gold S31 at Amazon are a decent choice.

10 minutes is super long even for a mechanical hard drive. As long as the ssd has a “dram cache” (this isn’t always advertised so you might have to do some googling) they’re all pretty great. Just do some googling to see if a certain brand is reputable. Almost all ssd’s have that dram cache, but some super cheap ones don’t have it and those can be even slower than mechanical hard drives
These would all be solid options:

The Hynix gold is the one I used for the MacBook Pro and haven’t had any issues. But I got it because the 256 gb version was on sale
I’d recommend the Samsung one since it’s on sale for only $110 (US). That’s a great deal on a 1tb ssd and Samsung is known for being a great ssd brand. I’ve also heard that their cloning software is great so you should be able to transfer everything on your old hdd over. But if your laptop is old I’d recommend just doing a fresh install of windows and manually transferring any important files you have
Also don’t worry about SATA vs NVME. This video explains it pretty well: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4DKLA7w9eeA

Hi NewMaxx, I just discovered your sub and have been reading through your guide and flowchart. Thanks for all your work.
The guide says that DRAM isn't as important for NVMe drives, but how would a lower end NVME without DRAM compare to a SSD that has it? I'm currently comparing the WD SN550 and Hynix Gold S31 as an upgrade for my boot drive. Both are in the budget category for their respective types. Thanks!

This is just some of my research. Go to the tldr for what I am looking for. https://www.velocitymicro.com/blog/nvme-vs-m-2-vs-sata-whats-the-difference
According to this site: "SATA M.2 SSD drives and 2.5” SATA SSDs actually operate at virtually identical spec. NVMe M.2’s on the other hand, definitely do not"
Also looked at this: https://www.laptopmag.com/articles/ssds-with-best-laptop-battery-life At the SATA SSDs vs PCIe-NVMe SSDs section I found some really power efficient ones. Looks like Samsung makes really good SSDs.
>>>TLDR: I don't wanna spend more than 250€ if possible on a M.2 NVMe SSD that is also power efficient. It's several times faster than M2.5 SATA ones. Will still take SATA but prefer the other.
Some I found: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07SNHB4RC
https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-970-EVO-1TB-MZ-V7E1T0BW/dp/B07BN217QG
They might be just for PCs, I don't know.

samsung 860 EVO 2.5" 1TB (99.99) or samsung 870 QVO (89.99)
SK hynix Gold S31 1TB $89.25 (15% discount) or 500GB version for $48
Samsung and SK offer 5 year warranties. Easy to apply for.

Since you've never replaced any parts here is my suggestion:
-
An SSD instead of the m.2 (m.2 requires you to remove the gpu) SSD Something like the one listed above as long as it's a 2.5" solid state drive. Crucial is probably my favorite brand for hard drives.- A little more expensive but smoothest performance. Team Group is good too. There's a more economical option on Amazon called Silicon Power but I've never heard of them.
-
Get this adapter for the hard drive. Makes installation really easy. 2.5 adapter
-
SATA cable needed (goes from HD to MOBO) SATA cable
-
Last thing you'll need is a SATA power cable. I can't tell you exactly which one you will need for the build because the spec sheet does not specify the connections on the PSU. My guess is it's a non-modular power supply which means you will most likely need a splitter to run your current SATA power cable from 1 to 2 connections. It will look something like this: SATA power splitter Definitely double check this. Could also be a molex cable or something different.
Now having said all that, as I wrap up my reply I realize that may sound daunting for a 1st timer. Trust me, it's not bad at all. The hardest part is the cables. IF this build's motherboard has a slot for an m.2 which it should (again, can't tell from the spec sheet) all it would take is removing the graphics card and you wouldn't have to mess with the cables or adapters. It would look something like this m. 2
Hope that helps 😊 ✌️

Hello, your post should be in r/buildmeapc so your post will be deleted soon, but I hope you get to read this before it is.
I will explain the basics (this is very basic im not experienced)
CPU : The brain of the PC, you can't use a pc without a cpu, it has multiple cores and gives orders to the GPU.
GPU : Also called graphics card, most CPU'S have integrated GPU's , but if it doesnt you can't use your system either, the GPU is like the arms of the pc, you already have the brain but you need something to work with it. It has thousands of cores and renders what CPU orders it.
RAM : Ram is pretty much like a HDD or a SSD except its about 10x faster, and more expensive too, If you dont have enough ram your system will take GB from your disks, which takes a lot and fps drops
Motherboard : you just put everything on it, make sure its compatible with your parts, also, a good mobo may help with the airflow and definitely helps with overclocking
HDD : i dont have to explain this
SDD : an hdd but a little bit more pricey, much faster. I dont recomment putting anything besides windows and games on it
PSU : The power supply, it feeds the pc so it can work, if you buy a psu that isnt enough your pc wont turn on. Always buy certified PSU's, never buy un-certified ones

The build I will recommend to you

CPU : Ryzen 7 3700x : 295$
Why? It is good for rendering, editing. Due to its numerous cores you can record and play without any perfomance drops at all

GPU : RTX 2070 Super : 525$
Why? It dominates 1440p gaming at 60 fps, or 1080p 144 fps gaming on most shooters so you can enjoy a 144 hz screen, you may also use a 240 hz monitor for 240 fps gaming if you tweak game settings a bit.

RAM : 2 x corsair Vengeance 3600 mhz 8 gb : price 63 x 2 = 126 $
buy 2 of these 2 packs, so you get 32 gb, since you will video edit, and you will render stuff, you'll need a good ammount of ram

Motherboard : x570 TUF gaming : 160$
A classic of the classics, high end mobo to upgrade without problems.

HDD : Seagate barracuda 2 tb 7200 rpm : 55 $
Good ammount of storage to save all your renders, videos, etc.

SSD : Hynix Gold 500 gb : 57 $
Affordable, fast, efficient. Enough to store a bunch of games.

Power supply : Apevia 800w 80 plus gold : 67$
Cheap for what it gives, more than enough to power your whole PC

If you are looking for a monitor : AOC 1080p 24 inches 144 hz : 180 $
Good enough quality, good game experience

Total price without monitor : 1285$
Total price with monitor : 1465$

This will last you a lot of years. By the way, don't build the pc yourself, hire someone to do it for you, you dont want to screw things up, that happens to everyone who builds a pc without much experience (me included)
