I keep looking, but to be honest it just seems like a laptop is substantially cheaper. Same specs on these NUC's are almost $1k more. I really, really want to get to the point where these manufacturers realize you could sell me a backpack with the NUC in it, an extension chord popping out, and I could then just bring my own monitor, keyboard, and mouse wherever. Would be the absolute best system.

Better processor than the NUC, better graphics card, and cheaper all around. I'm thinking about just pulling the trigger.

This laptop has been this price on Amazon for over a week now.

The big thing though with Amazon is this laptop actually has the 5 monthly payments feature. (No interest, credit check, etc). So you'd pay $299.80/mo

Is the Razer Blade 15 (2060, Intel Core i7-10750H) my only option for a bright screen, portability, and gaming?

I saw that the laptop is on Amazon's deal of the day and the reviews are great. at 350 Nits, i think this is the brightest laptop screen so far, and with 100% RGB and 75% Adobe RGB (I could be wrong on this, but it was something in the 70's). I like how slim, and portable it is.

I am looking for something portable, lightweight but also offers power. Is this my best choice in the sub 1500 USD price range?

Yes its good and looks good and is powerful but you might encounter some issues that will hurt your experience or you'd get the perfect device. Mine got BLB and a dead pixel but its not really noticeable for me but for someone else that can be a big problem. If you get the blade check everything for issues and if your not satisfied return if you are keep it. also take care of the battery, I've seen plenty of battery bloats in this subreddit so keep your battery cool. Also right now the base model is on sale on amazon.

btw people with issues are the loudest. Most people are satisfied with razer blade.

I've been looking at how I can get Synapse onto my Blade 15 running Kubuntu 20.04. I've been looking around and so far the only thing i've seen suggested is OpenRazer, which from what I have looked into, isn't compatible with mine (according to the github page). When running lsusb | grep '1532' I get ID 1532:0255.

Does anyone know a way to get Synapse running or at least be able to change the color(s) of the lights on the keyboard?

There are some recommendations I have that can set you up for 1080p-1440p medium-low graphics. (Some may be gaming laptops, but Ill try to find some slim laptops)

  1. Acer Nitro 5 2020
The Acer Nitro 5 is one of the best budget/gaming laptops right now due to its low price and quality. The newer version of the Acer Nitro 5 contains some improvements and renewal of components like graphics card. Here you can find the link to the one I recommend. It has a 6-core processor, an RTX 2060 and 16GB of RAM. The only downside that it has a low-capacity SSD, but you can upgrade your storage since there are an extra m.2 slot and a hard drive slot.
  2. Asus ROG Zephyrus G15
This laptop is a slim and great gaming laptop for all you needs. It has an 8-core Ryzen Zen 2 mobile CPU (which is a great thing) and a GTX 1660 Ti Max-Q. This graphics card is a bit weaker than the RTX 2060, but it still can play 1080p at 60hz or more. It has a high storage SSD, so no need to upgrade there and 16GB of RAM. Here's the link to the laptop model
  3. Razer Base 15
This is a bit more expensive than the others, but it has some additional things like a solid design, Thunderbolt 3, etc. Nevertheless, it is still a great laptop with the core i7 10750H and the RTX 2060. Here's the link to it.

And that's it for my recommendations for a gaming laptop with great performance. They can play 1080p at maybe 144hz with medium settings so Cyberpunk can be at least playable at 30-60 fps.

Hi, hows it going?

Well from my experience and what your friend needs I recommend the Dell Xps 15 9500 it has an i7 10750H (6c/12t) so laptop sku but can reach %5ghz!! and a gtx 1650ti (4gb vram), the screen is supper color accurate and bright reaching 500 nits, ips 15", best trackpad on windows sadly no separate mouse clickers but the trackpad is HUGE and the buttons too, it is a powerful ultrabook, super portable it has 2 thunderbolr 3 ports I think, a 1tb nvme ssd, 16gb ram at 2933mhz, battery life is amazing and super portable. Sadly it is $20 over budget on amazon.

Another recommendation Msi creator 17 it is a mini led display 100% srgb 1000 nits hdr 1000, i7 and rtx 2060, windows 10 pro, 144hz too, 1 thunderbolt 3 laptop, 16gb of ram upgradable to 64gb. This laptop is a thiccc boy so maybe with the left over budget he can buy a tablet for web browsing and watching videos.

Another recommendation Razer Blade 15 it is also 100%srgb 144hz 1080p, specs are i7 10750H and rtx 2060 ports are good 512gb ssd
