That’s the officially licensed one. Honestly it’s probably very similar to the plethora of other cheaper options available, but I have this one and am happy with it. It fits perfectly on any Xbox One controller (even on the Elites), and feels solid with my iPhone 11. Can’t go wrong at 15 bucks.

The PowerA MOGA clip works great with the Elite Series 2 and paddles.

I simply bought a controller clip on amazon that allows me to attach a normal bluetooth xbox controller. That was my cheapest option since I have multiple controllers already, and so far it works great.

Its cheaper on wish/ebay/aliexpress but shipping is much longer, so you do as you please.

As for the battery and heat, I have a case on my phone so I can't tell for the heat, but the battery life is very good. You're gonna get hours of usage out of it, and the charging is literally the fastest I've ever seen if you're using the stock cables they provide. It's stupid, like 50% in less than 20 minutes.

It doesn't have a kickstand to keep it upright when you put it down on a table, but the angle of the phone holder is much more adjustable on this than most, which easily makes up for it IMO. Just gotta be a little careful when putting it down.

How do you like that clip? I got 2 of them for my kids for Xmas, I think the OP backbone is more convenient but it would be $200 for me opposing $20 for the clip.

Not game pass ultimate but probably at least a gold subscription, not sure. Amazon sells several different types available on Amazon. I have this one and it works great with the Xbox one controller (not compatible with series x) I like it because you can change the placement of the phone center of gravity over the controller and the angle of the display. It’s $12 but definitely worth it.

The "official" one is the PowerA/Moga clip.

That's the one I got, and while I can't compare it to any others, I don't have any complaints about it.

Pretty sure all those clones have single pivot point. The official Xbox/Moga clip has 2 hinges so you can get the position and angle you want, and they lock down tight. Definitely worth the extra $5 over the cheapo ones.

You need to make sure that you have an Xbox One controller with bluetooth. The one that came with the original Xbox One was not bluetooth.

It works perfectly for my current use of using xCloud and my Pixel 4XL,

Secures to the controller perfectly (Xbox) and has good articulation while being able to actually hold the phone in place with no wobble or flex.

I actually came across it while registering for xCloud Preview by Microsoft directly recommending it in the requirements for a phone mount to use with the Xbox controller. And they said it would be coming out soon but it's already listed here on Amazon suprisingly.

Opens up Manfrotto phone grip style with not too much resistance but has a good grip on the phone as I alluded to above and my favourite little detail is that it has very minor indents on the top and bottom of the grip on the phone. Just enough of a cut out to ensure that any phone you use will be compatible regardless of power and volume buttons as they nestle into that indent if required.

I believe for the PS4 controller they have their own Sony phone mount ala the Official xbox partner one but it seems to be have been discontinued since I last bought one from Sony for my Xperia.

Alternatively you could if you so desire spring for a Razer Kishi which was just released for Android but it's a bit pricey and while it has it's benefits in portablity I actually do not prefer it for comfort at all. It essentially turns your phone into a faux Ninty Switch and while again great for portabiltiy and latency (USB-C connection) I find that is it's primary selling point.

Convenience/ Form factor.

Build quality of standard controllers are far better especially the xbox one and while I do appreciate it for what it is. Being able to rest your arms a bit lower and in a more standard controller shape and position feels much better due to the phone being balanced and elevated off the body of a standard controller itself.

Apologies for the long response but I did spend a lot of time, perhaps in excess, researching and mulling over the various different options and thought I might be of some use and benefit rather than sitting in my noggin.

Edit: All these options I've listed are ones that are "universal" and will fit the 3XL and my 4XL and I've personally used them but will also work for any future phone you get as well, bar the Kishi which will unfortunately only work for Android or iPhone depending on the version you get.

I hate to be that guy ~~but here goes~~

1) I'm a big fan of Xbox Game Pass for PC. The first month is literally one dollar. I only bring this up because The Outer Worlds is on Game Pass and if you want to try what I'm suggesting, it's much much better to do so without repurchasing the game. If nothing else, Game Pass remains an insanely great deal for the library of games you get.

2) I 100% hear you about not wanting to sit down at a desk to play games. What I do, is use cloud streaming services to play my PC games anywhere. Performance varies and is highly dependent on your internet, distance from routers and availability of ethernet cords. For instance, if I'm feeling supremely lazy I use my android phone to Parsec(Free, stream anywhere) into my PC to play with a controller clip. When I want to play on the TV, I use Steam Link or Rainway. Both are available as TV apps if you have a smart TV/Apple TV/Android TV. You can also just as easily use a spare laptop to connect to your TV and Parsec/Steam Link/Rainway into your computer.

I absolutely love it and it allows for a lot of flexibility in terms of when, where and how you PC game. Let me know if you're interested and need more help or follow the links to try it out yourself.
