On the lower end: Moto G Power currently on sale for $230. It's a decent phone with a big battery, a headphone jack, and minimal bloat. It's generally for people who don't game at a high level or heavily multitask. The biggest downside is it won't get an OS update past Android 11 and security updates will probably be sporadic. Edit: I should also mention it doesn't have NFC.
On the upper end of things: OnePlus 8 for $700 (glacial green only). Not stock Android but stock fans seem to not mind (or even prefer) OxygenOS. Battery life won't be as good as G Power but it's faster/nicer and has a better updates policy (though no headphone jack).

moto g power 2020 on tings network
tl;dr: can I use this phone (amazon link) in the midwestern US with ting
Hi all,
I was supremely lazy and didn't really read the voLTE email from ting until recently. Now, of course, I'm looking at replacement phones (rip my recent sony xperia purchase). I can't find a straight answer re: if the US moto g power 2020 model is supported -- it seems to be the only 'g' model not in the ting store, for example.

if you care nothing about camera, Motorola has good budget offerings.

$250 new, but you can usually get an 'amazon warehouse' in 'very good' condition for around $200.
the camera isn't garbage but its not really good like an iphone.
you could always get a newer iphone on swappa too. can probably get a decent used iphone 8 around $200.

It should work just fine. They are designed for every network.
On Amazon: Global Unlocked: use on any carrier, any plan. Ready for use when you insert your SIM.

You get it with or without Alexa BS on it. I got it without. I got it from Amazon Warehouse Deals for $172.99 in "Used - Acceptable" condition. Not a scratch on it. The box was just open. I've been playing with it on wfi for a couple of days while I wait on my Sim, to make sure it has no issues.

Thoughts on Moto G Power? I had a Moto 3g before and it was fine just slow. This has the snap 665 processor, 16MP front camera, macro lens (which I'm finding a potentially very useful feature), 5000MaH battery, fast charging, and an IPS display for the same price as the TCL 10L. https://www.amazon.com/Power-Battery1-Unlocked-Motorola-Camera/dp/B084D89DBF

If you're in the US, the issues might be due to the fact that it isn't the US version. I'd advise trying to return it in exchange for the US version

Keep an eye on r/androiddeals (and I'd recommend sticking with either eBay or Amazon as a vendor).
A quick search there turned up this : https://www.amazon.com/Power-Unlocked-Motorola-Camera-Black/dp/B084D89DBF

Thanks! I looked into the MotoG Power(https://www.amazon.com/Power-Battery1-Unlocked-Motorola-Camera/dp/B084D89DBF) Its a solid deal for 179$. If the camera can be compared to my existing Honor 8, i am good. My usage is kind of similar to yours, i will add this to the list. My older phone before Honor 8 was a Moto Defy, a solid phone - abused it a lot and worked great.

Now that Essential is now gone, I am planning on upgrading my Essential PH-1. The battery is starting to show it's age and does not hold a charge for an entire day, and not to mention the phone will auto shut off at around 10% which honestly starting to worry me.
I don't mind spending around $300-$400 for an upgrade, the only thing that I really want is an unlocked stock android with frequent android updates if possible. I'm currently with Boost Mobile.
Currently I'm looking at the Moto G Power since it seems to advertise that it will work with my carrier, there is also the Moto G Stylus which trades battery life for more storage and a better camera.
Any suggestions is welcome.

My recommendation is a Moto G Power or one of its cheaper variants.
GSM unlocked, cheap, decently powerful and reliable, and comes with Android 10.

You won't have a good experience with that phone. Missing too many bands, doesn't have volte (which will eventually be required to connect to tmobiles network sometime in 2021)
Here's some other motorola alternatives that are made for the US market and will work

Moto G power is cheaper and better

Why would people buy a no name phone instead of Motorola? with better specs and price and actual warranty and support? even some water resistance.

The POPTEL P9000MAX is a very underestimated when it comes to durability and battery life. The camera could be better though but see for yourself. Moto G Power has a slightly better camera similar performance but less battery mAh, though good by many standards.

Unless you really want the stylus from the Moto then I would buy the Moto G Power (Best Buy Amazon). It’s only $230 and has the same performance as the Stylus with a couple camera differences but it has a massive 5000 mAh battery so it will easily last all day and longer.
edit: Plus buying this from Best Buy or Amazon means the phone is unlocked and carrier bloatware free!

Moto G power seems to fit all your requirements, although I'm not 100% sure about the unlocked bootloader. I'm sure it is because Motorola always unlocks it. https://www.amazon.com/Power-Battery1-Unlocked-Motorola-Camera/dp/B084D89DBF

Moto G Fast. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B086H4C8CX/ref=emc_b_5_mob_i?th=1&psc=1
Moto G8 Power Lite. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0887WBNN4/ref=sspa_mw_detail_4?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3QZ4GOG6ETYGB&th=1
Moto G8 Power. https://www.amazon.com/Power-Unlocked-Motorola-Camera-Black/dp/B084D89DBF?th=1&psc=1
The best one would be the Moto G8 Power. It has better resolution (1080), has 4gb ram, has fast charging, and have a 5000 mph battery.
Power Lite is the same thing except the resolution is 720, inferior chipset and gpu, and no fast charging.
Moto G Fast has a 720 resolution, same gpu and chipset as G8 power, but has a 2 or 3 gb ram (you get to choose), 32 gb storage (The other ones have 64 gb. Storage doesn't really matter in terms of performance but if you download a lot of stuff, you might want a bigger one), and it has no fast charging and only 4000 mph battery.
