I just replaced this exact case with a NZXT H510. NZXT H510 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TD9C5HS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Z1fyEbPPC3708
My reasoning was due to the Lanboy Air being hard to keep clean. Open air cases tend to have a lot of dust issues in my experience. However if you are willing to clean your machine often this case should work perfectly fine still.

Exceptional. Am more confident to pull the trigger now. Regarding the box, bitwit ran with a NZXT his tutorial build. I have found a variant I think looks promising.
I understand that airflow is essential, but am unfamiliar in separating out "hot boxes" from good ones (aside from more money = better).

For motherboards there are two standardized sizes: ATX and m(icro)ATX. Any ATX case will fit your motherboard. That said, I would highly recommend the H150 case. It is very roomy, good airflow, has 2 fans pre-installed. Best case I've ever worked with and I recommend it to everyone.

I got mine back on May 6, 2020 on Amazon for $69.99 US new. It went out of stock shortly after that. I see there are some sellers putting up new ones for $237 US which is unfortunate. Keep checking - sometimes youll get lucky when inventory becomes available.
Here is the product link on Amazon: NZXT H510. I would keep checking sites like Newegg, B&H Photo, Walmart, and Ebay.
I got the matte black H510 and I love it. You get so much in a compact package: nice cable management, combined power and HDD illumination in the front panel, USB-C on the front panel, tempered glass, ventilation panels and even a dust pullout! It looks awesome with the NZXT N7 motherboard and the NZXT Kraken Z63 cooler!

NZXT H510 - this is one of my personal favorites to build in. It has a great look, plus it's great price!
(why do I feel like I sound like bitwit or linus right now....)
Edit: here is another for 119: Cooler master H500
great look with great airflow! and it hits you 120 price-point on the dot.

Thanks again for helping me the other day. I'm close to ordering the parts but I was hoping to get your opinion on a different case with the parts you recommend. I was looking at the NZXT H510, mostly because I think it looks nice and would be okay with expanding budget to include it.
1 points • Swedishfish120
TLDR your case alone should be at bare minimum >14 lbs but it will feel really unstable unless it's heavier than that (17-20 lbs). Ideally you will also want to shift some of the weight of the case toward the back.
To prevent the computer from falling over, you need the center of mass of the entire structure to be over the part in contact with the ground (see the red and green bar in this diagram).
You mentioned a compact ATX case so I used the dimensions from this NZXT H510 (my first result on google for "compact ATX case") which gave me a width of 460 mm, which is just over 18 inches.
Your structure essentially has 3 pieces you can add together to find the overall center of mass (the monitor, the frame, and the case). Each piece will have its center of mass in the middle. For the NZXT H510, it's COM will be 9 inches horizontally from its edge.
To find the overall center of mass, you multiply the weight of each piece by the horizontal distance from that piece's center of mass to some reference point in space, add them up, then divide that by the total weight. You can pick any point you want, I picked the point right under the monitor. It is essentially a weighted average.
The formula looks like this: COM Position = (sum of (weight_of_piece*location_of_piece_COM)) / (total weight)
For your computer, using the reference point in my diagram you need the COM of the structure to be greater than 14 inches away (so that it's over the case). In my diagram, the calculation looks like this:
COM Position = (8lb x 0in + 2lb x 7in + Wlb x 23in) / (8lb + 2lb + Wlb) > 14in
When you solve this for W, the weight of the case, you get W > 14 lb. However, if your case is exactly 14 lbs, your computer will feel very unstable and any small bump (or putting your computer on an incline) would make it fall over - this is because the overall COM would be just at the edge of the case.
To make your structure more stable you want the COM farther to the right. If you just make your case heavier it will move to the right by approximately one inch per 3 lbs of case weight. This is a back-of-the-napkin estimate but your computer would probably feel unstable until the the COM is at least an inch inside the case, perhaps two. So you would want somewhere in the area of 17-20 lbs.
Shifting weight in the case toward the back will also make it more stable, as the distance from the reference point would be larger so you could get a bigger effect with relatively less weight.

Hi, in response to your first question: no. You don’t have to do a bios update with that motherboard, because of the “max” suffix at the end. What the “max” suffix means is that it’s the same board, just slightly beefier and already pre-updated for Ryzen 3 gen. If you wanted to do a bios flash (change the bios) the B450 Tomahawk is good for that too, mainly because of its “flashback” feature, which enables you to change the bios without anything installed. In response to your second question, also no. The asterisk is for in the future, you can/should get extra fans, but at this point, they’re not necessary. On a side note, I would strongly* suggest you choose another case, particularly as the aesthetic and functionality of the case you chose is dated, at this point. I would suggest either the CoolerMasteror the NZXT H510. They’re slightly more expensive than the case that you chose, but should offer a more... modern experience.

You can't run native 4K60 on a 2070S, but you can run 4K60 with 70-80% resolution scale. Digital Foundry found this to be a really good compromise where you only sacrifice a very small amount of detail (which you probably won't notice unless it's side by side with the 100% scale).
Other than that, maybe spend a little more on a nicer case. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TD9C5HS?tag=pcpapi-20&linkCode=ogi&th=1&psc=1

A few things.
- I personally would ditch the WD Blue HDD and SATA SSD and invest in an NVMe drive. Sabrent has recently released their 1 TB Sabrent Rocket Q that will give you faster storage than a hard drive or SATA solid state drive for the same price as those two drives.
- You could also save some money by skipping that cheap upHere CPU cooler, as the Ryzen 5 already comes with a decent one out of the box.
- Unless you already have it on hand, I would recommend a better case than the Cougar one on the list. Some good budget options might include the Fractal Design Focus G or the NZXT H510.
- Use some higher-quality case fans than the ones listed here, something like a set of Arctic F12 fans will do the trick.
- For the graphics card, I would opt for the cheaper EVGA RTX 2060 KO on Newegg. XFX is notorious for their poor build quality and dubious design choices on their graphics cards. You'll lose a bit of performance, but you won't have to worry about build quality or driver issues as with the RX 5700.
- If you can afford it, I would go for a better-rated power supply. Something that is at least 550W and 80+ Bronze certified would do the trick. It won't affect performance, but it will increase the system's energy efficiency, and higher-rated power supplies are generally made to be higher quality overall.

It's foolish to spend 100USD on RGB fans when you could get a better motherboard like the MSI B450 Tomahawk Max with out of the updated BIOS for Ryzen 3rd gen support
I would suggest these 2×140mm fans for front intake in the NZXT H510 with 2×120mm fans included for rear and top exhaust.

We're pushing your budget by about 20 or 30 dollars, but the price to performance is MUCH MUCH better than the PC you were intending to buy. I don't mean to sound condescending, please don't take it that way, just want to help. The PC parts you listed are older and far less powerful, and you are paying a pretty significant price when there are components of similar price with better performance!

The CPU I chose is similar in performance to the Ryzen 5 2600. Please make sure to get the AF version of the 1600, as it's an "updated" model compared to the old 1600.
Not really much to say about the motherboard other than MSI makes solid boards starting at that price. It won't disappoint you.
16GB of at minimum 3000MHz RAM. Faster RAM is important, especially for Ryzen. While 3000MHz is perfectly fine, if you would like to squeeze the budget by an extra 10$, I would get 3200MHz of the same RAM instead.
500GB might seem a bit small - and it is - but I'd rather put some of the money elsewhere in the rig as adding another SSD or HDD later is no hassle, and 500GB is plenty for a while.
The RX580 8GB will absolutely destroy a 1050Ti. I upgraded from a 1050Ti to an RX580 myself, and for roughly the same price, this one is a no-brainer. While performance varies from game to game, the RX580 is in a similar performance category as a GTX 1060.

This PC Part Picker list ends up above budget with the same components. Just made it to show no hardware incompatibilities, power consumption, etc.

If you want, you can go with a liquid cooler, and I gave you the total with and without. You can downsize it to a 120mm if you feel as if it's too big.
This gives you about $500 to dedicate to a GPU if you already have what you need with keyboard, mouse, and monitor. I would recommend this:
Used RTX 2070 OC If you have any issues with it, Amazon will be the one to handle your situation with a replacement or refund and maybe some extra money for it.

You could definitely optimize this build a little bit more, but this is not a bad starting list:
- Your CPU comes with a stock cooler, and it's not that bad. You can remove the unreliable (low/few ratings, no links on PC part picker) CPU cooler on the list.
- I've read some of the other comments that say you can change your motherboard, but honestly that's not the biggest problem. Either way, I'm pretty sure there are a lot of B450 motherboards that would pair much better with your current CPU.
- Please replace your RAM with something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Vengeance-3200MHz-Desktop-Memory/dp/B0143UM4TC/ref=pd_di_sccai_1/147-1476573-1846135?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B0143UM4TC&pd_rd_r=419d81d8-63c5-487c-8ba8-4798480fc304&pd_rd_w=pCBzP&pd_rd_wg=pRbTU&pf_rd_p=5415687b-2c9d-46da-88a4-bbcfe8e07f3c&pf_rd_r=YRB5KCVY789PSJA4XV42&psc=1&refRID=YRB5KCVY789PSJA4XV42 and don't fret about it not being 3600 MHz; even if you want 3600 MHz (which should have virtually no impact on this build), Corsair also sells a 3600 MHz dual-stick kit that costs like 2 bucks more: https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Vengeance-PC4-28800-Desktop-Memory/dp/B07RM39V5F/ref=sr_1_3?crid=T4THOA51JYSX&dchild=1&keywords=corsair%2Blpx%2Bram&qid=1602154871&sprefix=blank%2Bkeycap%2Caps%2C147&sr=8-3&th=1 Having a dual-stick memory kit for this build (and even in general right now) is crucial.
- You can replace your 250 GB NVME drive with another NVME drive that offers double the space for the same price: https://www.amazon.com/BLACK-SN750-500GB-Internal-Gaming/dp/B07MH2P5ZD Western Digital is very good, and this product is also in their professional "black" series.
- Be a sheep and get this for your hard drive: https://www.amazon.com/Seagate-BarraCuda-Internal-Drive-3-5-Inch/dp/B07H2RR55Q It offers twice the storage for the same price.
- For budget air flow, this case is pretty nice: https://www.amazon.com/NZXT-H510-Management-Water-Cooling-Construction/dp/B07TD9C5HS Comes with two fans for exhaust and the intake is simply through the perforations in the front. Really weird design that is much more effective than you would initially think.
- Since you're not going for an RGB build, an RGB PSU doesn't make much sense. Also, don't hunt for the least reliable products (this PSU has no ratings and I've never heard of AeroCool). Just to give you an idea of a reputable version of the product you've selected: https://www.amazon.com/Thermaltake-Toughpower-750W-256-Color-PS-TPG-0750FPCGUS-R/dp/B01N4C39AR It has so many reviews on Amazon. But I really feel like you don't need such high wattage or RGB for your PSU. If you had a 30 series GPU that would pull more power and you were going for RGB fans and a few RGB accessories, then the Thermaltake RGB PSU would make more sense. Instead, something like this makes much more sense: https://www.amazon.com/Thermaltake-Toughpower-Crossfire-Hydraulic-PS-TPD-0650FNFAGU-1/dp/B07N7V8JM5 And if you hunt around, I think you can find even better deals on 650W PSUs. You also don't necessarily need the 80+ Gold rating; I'm just sticking with it for all of these PSUs that I'm linking to keep it as a constant.
- Get a 144Hz monitor for the same price as your 60Hz monitor: https://www.amazon.com/Acer-XFA240-bmjdpr-Response-Technology/dp/B06ZYHZ6R6
I know some of my recommendations were to just get more bang for your buck, which doesn't actually decrease the price, but the PSU/GPU combo is a really easy way to bring down the price for two reasons:
- You don't need such high wattage or RGB
- You can downgrade your GPU to go for an even lower wattage and therefore, cheaper, PSU. With the release of the NVIDIA 30 series GPUs, the 20 series are in a weird spot. Most of them haven't dropped that much in price (not talking about the 2080 Ti here), so I think cards like the 1660 Ti are in a very good price for performance spot right now. They're very powerful for how much you pay. I would look into downgrading your GPU, since you independently stated that you are iffy on getting an RTX card.
Good luck! :3
