~~Correct me if I’m wrong but I am assuming you created a network with the same SSID as your main WiFi. This extender is not capable of mesh networking. You will need to configure the extender to connect to the host WiFi SSID, and then create a separate SSID specific to the extender. You would then connect your PC just to the extender’s SSID network. Also it is strongly recommended to separate your 5g SSID from your 2.4g SSIDs. You do not want both frequencies transmitting on the same SSID, even though that is the default configuration for most networks. It causes problems.~~
Edit shit I thought we were talking about an extender, my bad. Buy an extender like the NetGear EX3700 AC750 or something similar and then follow the instructions above.

Yeah, unless you want to run coax or ethernet, a repeater halfway between the router location and study would probably be your best bet.
An old wifi router as a bridge, or something like this would work:

Ah ok that's smart. Although I use the ethernet port for my PC. Do you think something like this would work? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00R92CL5E/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_KrNeEb8FKQV04

Just get a non VZ phone....put it in hotspot mode, then buy a wifi repeater.

You mention the second floor has lots of interference, so how do you intend to connect this extender? Are you thinking about something like this?
If so, you are probably better off using a Ubiquiti access point in wireless uplink mode, as the radios are probably higher quality and you maintain the single management pane.
These extender products may have a “one button setup experience”, but they are still separately managed, with their own web interface and everything. If you install a second Unifi AP, then all of you network settings will be applied to both automatically.
The only things you’ll need to manage on a per-AP basis are the radio channel, bandwidth, and transmit power (which will be defined by your environment). Everything else, like SSID, password, guest network, MAC filters, rate limits, etc, will be managed through the Unifi controller and apply to all access points assigned to the network.
If you are concerned about interference, you should look into ways to get a cable into the space. A hardwired access point will be much more performant and reliable than a wireless uplink/extender.
Also, if you are talking about RF interference, try changing channels/bandwidth. You can run an RF scan on newer Unifi APs to see how crowded different parts of the spectrum are, and apps exist to do the same on Android and Mac/PC. There’s not much that can be done for physical interference (thick walls, metal construction, etc) though. At that point running a cable may be your only option.

This:

It’s nothing top-notch, but it works okay. I run into problems with it once in awhile, but it’s usually fixable with a hard reset. The only thing that sucks is when I have multiple people over in my garage hanging out, because it can only handle 2-3 people connected to it at a time.
My extender isn’t really the main focus of this thread, but it’s something I could look into if it fits into the upgrade scheme.

You need a repeater. Something like this:

We've used this to get WiFi to a shop on our property. We plugged it in at a corner of the house nearest the shop and it works well. If your trailer is is a marginal coverage area of their WiFi , this should get you going. It's pretty straightforward to setup, too.

So I also had a similar situation where I had a weak wifi spot in my house. What I used was the following ranger extender and it worked exactly how I wanted and was happy with the features, but read the specs and check to make sure you dont need access to the router setup(pretty sure you don't, but cant remember 100%) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00R92CL5E
But yeah, for me it works great. If your interested in going this route, you'll need to do some research to figure out if it'll work for you. What I personally would do, is download a wifi analyzer app for your phone, and then see how the wifi connection is at various outlets you can plug this in. Ideally it would be somewhere halfway between your ps4 and the device.

In that case, I’d suggest looking into a WiFi booster. You can plug them into any regular outlet and it will boost the range/strength of the signal. Should work for a basement set up if the base signal is on the first floor.
Here’s an example:

This one looks like the one I use netgear wifi range extender

I would recommend getting a wifi extender with an Ethernet port. It won’t be as fast as running an ethernet directly from the modem or router, but you will have a much more stable connection, and it will be cheaper than having spectrum come out and set up a new modem. Here is a link to the one a couple of my buddies use for gaming. They like it very much and have experienced no issues with it.

If you already have a good router and don't want to spend a lot of money on a new one, I recommend a WiFi extender like one of these.
You pretty much just plug it in, set it up on the website they give you and it works. Takes about 5 minutes to do and it's pretty easy. You could probably even plug it in outside if your porch is covered.

get yourself a network repeater: https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Wi-Fi-Range-Extender-EX3700/dp/B00R92CL5E/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=wifi+repeater+netgear&qid=1595946921&sr=8-5
Place this around the spots of your house where the wifi can't reach for your iPhones or any wireless devices. A network repeater will take the signal of your (wifi router) and retransmit it thus successfully extending the wireless signal.
2 points • pandaman1784
you want to find one that is dual band one. so the repeater can talk to your router on one channel (preferably 5ghz) and then talk to your Ring on another (2.4 ghz). I got this for my cousin: https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Wi-Fi-Range-Extender-EX3700/dp/B00R92CL5E?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_2

i recommend making a specific SSID for your Ring, so no devices accidentally connect to it.
1 points • Blackhawk2479
Exactly.
OP, if your router really only does 5ghz, then get a WIFI extender that connects to your router on 5ghz but extends the network on 2.4ghz. They don't need to be expensive, something like this:
https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Wi-Fi-Range-Extender-EX3700/dp/B00R92CL5E

See if you can get a wifi extender wall plug in. You might be able to get one in an outlet close to your room.
My family has had luck with this extender from Netgear. This particular one is coverage up to 800 square ft.
There is also another Netgear extender. This one is coverage up to 1000 square ft.

You seem like just the person I was hoping would see this. Would this work?
Looks like it can be configured as a AP or extender. I also have a tp link 600mb powerline network extender, what are your thoughts regarding using both together? (Router-Powerline-other powerline- AP/extender) It would just be nice to avoid having to run ethernet cables down through the walls.

The "trick" is to point the game to a different server when it attempts to reach the old Nintendo live events server, the details are laid out here. The trickiest bit of the process is that the game is so old that most wifi networks have encryption it can't use. WPA, WPA2 are too new; if you have a router that can use WEP or transmit entirely un-encrypted it should work. I know that some people have had good success with public wifi, like McDonalds or a public library, since those tends to be unsecured. Personally, I found out my router was too new, but the network repeater I use to extend signal to the far end of the house can transmit with no encryption at all. Usually a bad idea, but I was able to get Darkrai, Shaymin, and a bunch of other event pokemon.

You can simply add a $30 range extender half way between your router/ap and the grill. Netgear extender
If that won't work you could install a powerline adapter at both the router and the grill to provide internet over AC power lines in your home. Powerline extender

why didn't you buy one with over 20,000 reviews?
your model has only a single review in 2018 and back then it had issues with disconnects
Hope you bought it from amazon, return it and get something like this:

you need mesh wifi to extend coverage. make sure the system you buy support both 2.4 and 5ghz. i have lots of good experiencing installing these for clients https://www.amazon.com/TP-LINK-AC2200-Smart-Whole-Home/dp/B07N1NZ99R/
do not buy wifi range extenders such as this https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Wi-Fi-Range-Extender-EX3700/dp/B00R92CL5E/ UNLESS you can run a cat5 cable from your main router to the extender.
