Just get a $5 adapter. There are definitely cheap HDMI monitors, it just depends on what you define as "cheap". Either way, something like this should work: https://www.amazon.com/Moread-Gold-Plated-Projector-Chromebook-Raspberry/dp/B00SW9JI9A

HDMI-VGA will be cheapest. $8

There's a cable to convert the HDMI over to VGA.
Now, will you be able to hook up multiple monitors? I'm not sure if you're going to be able to do that.

I plan on building a PC the next week. The problem is that my current PC and monitor have VGA. My new PC won't have VGA and I can't replace the monitor right now since I want to put everything in the PC. Would this HDMI to VGA work? Any suggestion?

ok sorry for revive but just to confirm- i found this, says it converts digital to analog so we're good there. But I'm still not sure about whether this one is being powered externally, how can I tell? Does powered externally mean like it runs on a battery or something?
1 points • TyrellWellickForCTO
I do not that that specific one will work because it is a VGA input HDMI output while your setup is the opposite. Take a look at this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00SW9JI9A/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_.bxSEbN44N57D

You're right. You made me just realize that on one of the monitors, I have a VGA to Displayport adapter already hooked up.
The USB-C is used to connect the dock to the laptop, so I can't do USB-C to DVI adapter.
My only option seems to be getting a VGA (HD15) to HDMI cable. Would this work?

You'll need an adapter that converts an HDMI signal to VGA, or if your second monitor has an HDMI port you can just use that as well.

This one worked for me. Also most of your adapters are vga to hdmi not the other way around.

You can buy adapters HDMI to other video interfaces. It might be easier to just do that then trying to find a HDMI KVM.
You can get these things cheap on aliexpress or ebay. I haven't used it with PI, but used one with a small form factor PC and it worked "ok". I just run console, not X11. It works well enough for maintenance tasks.

Would this work just as well? https://www.amazon.com/Moread-Gold-Plated-Projector-Chromebook-Raspberry/dp/B00SW9JI9A/ref=mp_s_a_1_9?dchild=1&keywords=hdmi+to+vga+converter+adapter+audio&qid=1588769936&sr=8-9

If yout thinking or talking about slicing a HDMI cable and VGA cable together. it wont work due to one being a Digital signal and the other an Analog. Only way that would work if there is a converter somewhere in-between.
it best is to get something like this and use the vga cable that came with the monitor (or use a vga cable you have laying around).
1 points • Luminaria19
There are VGA to HDMI adapters you can get. You'll just have to be very careful to get one that's active in the direction you need (HDMI to VGA).
Something like this should work.
EDIT: Just realized you might be trying to use both monitors with one HDMI port. Is that what you're doing?
1 points • SenselessTragedy
You would get source (HDMI) to input VGA. So this should work but wait until someone else agrees with me in case my sleepy-ness is messing with me.

You’d need something like this to hook up your Xbox to your monitor.
3 points • holdmynose
Here this should help:
DVI to VGA
HDMI to VGA
Caveat on this. Due to HDCP requirements none of these type will display BlueRay or other heavily restricted content This may apply to some games.
These are just examples of what to look for.

Not directly, no. You need a digital to analog converter.

Go for the Acer A515-54-51DJand a dongle to connect the monitor
Screen Size : 15 inches
Processor : 3.9 GHz Intel Core i5
Graphics : Intel HD Graphics
RAM : 8 GB
Weight : 3.97 lbs
Storage Type : 256 GB SSD
Comments: It is well built and has a great balance of specs which can manage a little bit of everything. Its quad-core CPU and 8 GB of RAM will keep it running smoothly even when you have lots of programs or tabs open. Its SSD will allow it to boot in seconds as well. If you want to upgrade the storage or RAM in the future it is very easy to do as well.

You won’t always find multiple HDMI ports on lower cost monitors, but you can pick up HDMI to DVI or HDMI to VGA adapters for pretty cheap like this or this. I would recommend this monitor, it’s $100, a little bit of a size and resolution upgrade to 21.5” and 1080P at up to 75hz.
If you have extra left in you budget upgrading to a nice mouse is well worth is if you like to game. Both Corsair and Logitech make some pretty affordable options.

Operating system is totally irrelevant in this case, the USB port on the projector is for connecting a mouse.
According to Mitsubishi, that projector has several inputs, but the only one likely to be of use to you is VGA. If your computer doesn't have a VGA output, you'll need to a converter for an output type you do have, or an add-on USB to VGA adapter.
Links are provided as examples only, I haven't used those particular parts and can't comment on their quality/reliability. If you only plan to use it for documents or maybe movies, USB is probably fine. If you want to try to play games on it, you should get a VGA adapter that can connect to one of your GPU's video output ports.

All I could find about interlaced mode was a very vague 2 and a half minute video on youtube that didn't help me much so I'm assuming you're right about Windows 10 not supporting interlaced mode.

You could use this https://www.amazon.com/Female-Coupler-Connector-Adapter-Extender/dp/B0789BGXXR
and this https://www.amazon.com/Moread-Gold-Plated-Projector-Chromebook-Raspberry/dp/B00SW9JI9A together they work with a stick or other hdmi male devices and with just the adapter you can use the monitor for a laptop or whatever.

You could technically use it, but you'd need to buy an adapter online that converts VGA.
Straight VGA to HDMI cable:

VGA to HDMI adapter:

VGA to Display Port cable:

VGA to Display Port adapter:

Pay attention to which you need. The cable is VGA male, the adapter is for VGA female.

Dual monitor set-up for 2020 MBA (Yes, it can be done!)
Hi all,
I upgraded my mid-2012 MBA (i5/8gb/128gb) to the 2020 MBA (i5/16gb/500gb). I have a dual monitor set-up for work. I spent a ridiculous amount of time on Reddit and elsewhere trying to figure out if I could keep my set-up with the 2020 MBA before buying it. I said "screw it, I'll figure it out" and bought it. After three frustrating days (& lots of cursing), I finally got both monitors as extended screens (not mirrored) and I have my 2020 MBA in clamshell mode. I wanted to share how I was able to do it.

>Disclaimer: I could have easily solved this problem by buying a 4K monitor and divide it into 4 separate work "sections". Given the whole pandemic thing/quarantine, it's hard for me to commit to a new monitor without seeing it first in person. I don't want to deal with returns plus going outside and seeing humans (ew, icky). So here we are.
BACKGROUND / USAGE
I'm in grad school and usually have 6-7 apps open for work and writing. Some apps I use are Zotero, Scrivener, Google Chrome, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Spotify, Itunes, WhatsApp extension, Airmail, Nvivo, and Facebook Messenger. I don't play games and primarily use my computer for work.
OLD SET-UP
I got two 20" monitors from garage sales forever ago. Both of them only have DVI and VGA. I couldn't daisy-chain them since they don't have TB3/USB-C, DP out, or mDP out, but they worked so *shrug*. I connected Monitor 1 (M1) to my computer with a USB 2.0 to VGA/DVI/HDMI Video Graphics Adapter while I used an Apple Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter for monitor 2 (M2). For the USB 2.0 to work, you have to download a DisplayLink Driver. I use both monitors as extended screens (not mirrored) and I had my MBA in clamshell mode. This set-up worked for years until my 2012 MBA started overheating about a few months ago and wasn't able to keep up with my workflow anymore. I normally would take my Mac to my Apple-certified repair store but they warned me that their waitlist is really long (since they're getting ALL of the Apple repairs now instead of their overflow). Given my work, I can't be computer-less for an uncertain period of time. I told myself years ago that I would only upgrade my computer when they dropped the butterfly keyboard on the MBA. Then they dropped this model in March 2020, so it was time to upgrade.
NEW SET-UP
I had read on Reddit that I couldn't use two VGA-to-HDMI cables to recreate my dual monitor set-up. I bought this USB-C dongle* and this VGA-to-HDMI adapter for M1. For M2, I connected my USB 2.0 to VGA/DVI/HDMI Video Graphics Adapter to this USB 2.0-to-USB-C adapter directly into my computer. IMPORTANT: Don't use the dongle for both monitors. **I tried this and my computer actually shut down for a minute, warning me that the dongle was overheating.**For the USB 2.0 adapter to work, you have to download the DisplayLink Driver. Since this isn't from the Apple store, the Security & Privacy panel will pop-up: give it permission to download with TouchID or your password.
----
It's been a few hours for me but everything is running smoothly so far! I was worried that this set-up would cause the 2020 MBA to overheat too because of the thermal issues I've been reading about. Thus far, the temperature has stayed at 164°F/73°C to 172°F/77°C. The fans haven't turned on even when I was backing up the hard drive with Time Machine (+ all of my regular apps).I might eventually upgrade for a 4K monitor set-up but for now, this works.

>My only *slight* annoyance is that I use Secondbar for my second monitor, but it's not showing the regular second menubar, just the time stamp. I'm hopeful that Secondbar will eventually fix this issue with Catalina.
----
TDLR
Monitor 1: Used VGA-to-HDMI adapter and connected it to this USB-C dongle. Obviously connect dongle to your MBA.
Monitor 2: Download DisplayLink Driver, then connected USB 2.0 to VGA/DVI/HDMI Video Graphics Adapter to this USB 2.0-to-USB-C adapter directly into your MBA. Don't add it on the Dongle to prevent overheating.
---
*I downloaded the Fakespot Chrome plug-in to weed out all of the sketchy companies/reviews for all of my items. Have I mentioned I hate returns??
Let me know if you've tried any other dual-monitor set-ups. I hope this helps!!
