This is the one I just ordered.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07XH4SK17/ref=cm_sw_r_apa_i_9KIVEbVXPSEBC

It is a max board, so should be ryzen 3rd Gen ready. I paid $75 for it. It's not yet in stock at the moment, but there is some coming in. I think of it as a reservation.

UPDATE: The question and answer here seems to indicate that 3rd gen Ryzen CPUs are supported out of the box, and so what I said above lack of compatibility out-of-box might be wrong. Also the blog post from last year from MSI about adding support to other motherboards with a BIOS update doesn't include this board, and could mean this motherboard was released after Ryzen 3rd gen. If that is the case, then CPU should not be an issue as long as it's correctly seated and you have the cooler attached/connected.

Hey how are you? I was double checking everything and I was reading reviews on the motherboard. So I looked around and came across this one. I'd like your thoughts on this one. It really is funny in a sad way - I was about to write a review for the AB350M when I got black screen'd. Thanks very much for the input and for the resources. Never knew about QVL lists - my exact RAM is not on there, so I guess there were even more issues with this mobo than I realized!

Just now I was eyeing the MSI B450M Pro-M2 MAX, I will try putting it all together in part picker, + check the QVL list for whatever mobo I go with.

If you do decide to spring for a new mobo as well / your AB350M flakes out on you as well, reminder to get some more thermal paste and 91% isopropyl alcohol for when you reinstall the CPU.

> What motherboard would you recommend, if I were to go cheap?

Anything from MSI that has the word "MAX" in the name. Below is a $75 example that is currently out of stock.

https://www.amazon.com/ProSeries-Ryzen-generaci%C3%B3n-D-SUB-Micro-ATX/dp/B07XH4SK17/

> Would it be a worthy investment to upgrade to a 512 SSD?

Yes.

> Does this build use integrated graphics?

Yes. Getting an actual card with that budget requires too many sacrifices. Below is a link to benchmarks for the 2200G which is around 10% slower than the 3200G. The idea is you can purchase a GPU down the road once you have $100 to $200 saved up and have a much more powerful build than if you bought everything now.

The only immediate upgrade you can do that will make substantial difference is a new GPU, but it's gonna cost you more than $300 to be an upgrade from a 1070 and your CPU may leave a lot to be desired if you do get a new GPU.

You can update your CPU, mobo, and RAM though for a little over $300.

If you do this your system will be ready for a new GPU down the line and it can handle pretty much anything higher than a 1070.

My last possible suggestion would be a new monitor, if you're still rocking a 1080p 60hz panel you may want to update that to say a 1080p 144hz one or a 1440p 60hz. It's not a performance upgrade per se, but a visual upgrade for your eyes lol.

I’m looking to build my first ever gaming PC, and need someone to tell me if the parts I’m picking are good.

I was hoping to keep the PC at around $500 (kinda failed) and was hoping if anyone could tell me if I’m heading in the right direction.

My main games are rocket league, rainbow six, and Minecraft, So I don’t think I need a beefy computer as of yet lol

Links to all parts:

motherboard

power supply

SSD

RAM

graphics card

processor

I’m a noob when it comes to PCs, so any help is appreciated!

Note: also if anyone knows good budget monitors please share lol

There's a chance your selected board won't support the CPU without a bios update. (Which needs a supported cpu to do)

https://www.amazon.com/MSI-ProSeries-Micro-ATX-Motherboard-PRO-M2/dp/B07XH4SK17

You can check the compatibility list here: You will see that the bios version is the same for most processors. This includes the 3200Ghttps://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/B450M-PRO-M2-MAX#support-cpu

__________

You can add more Storage Drives, yes. I can't tell how many Sata Cables the Motherboard comes with though. I'd reckon it comes with couple but you never know.

If you need more. I guess you'll just have to buy one.

__________

The 500W PSU is fine. You can make do with a 450W since you have no dedicated GPU.

If you intend to add a GPU later. You would do best to get a 550W PSU.

I think I have just one more question. Looking at the motherboard you recommended, I can't find anywhere if it supports gen 3 Ryzens right out of the box without any BIOS updates. Some people say it doesn't. I don't have an older Ryzen, and getting the free temporary booting kit seems like a pain, so I'd want to make sure I find a motherboard that does.

Overall, this seems kind of conflicted, and I haven't been able to find an mATX motherboard that explicitly says it does support gen 3s out of the box except for this one: https://www.amazon.com/ASRock-MicroATX-Motherboard-B450M-PRO4/dp/B07FVYKFXF/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=ASRock+MicroATX+Motherboard+%28B450M+PRO4&qid=1582221722&sr=8-3.

I've also found this one: https://www.amazon.com/MSI-ProSeries-Micro-ATX-Motherboard-PRO-M2/dp/B07XH4SK17/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=MSI%2Bb450m%2Btomahawk&qid=1582241730&sr=8-2&th=1. Most say it would work, while some don't. One person even said anything below a 3600 would work out of the box.

Is there a way to know for sure?

I have two exhaust fans on the top, the one built into the side of the case, and one on the PSU. My motherboard is small (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07XH4SK17/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1) which may contribute.

"while getting a cheap mobo doesn't leave enough money for a GPU upgrade anyway." -that's not true. as long as it's mobo is compatible with pice 3 , his GPU will run fine without loss of performance. -when i suggested a b450 or a320 , i didnt mentioned which. the b450 tomahawk max is expesive as well. the mobos i was talking about 1 of were those: https://www.amazon.com/GIGABYTE-GA-A320M-S2H-MicroATX-Realtek-Motherboard/dp/B079NYQQJJ/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=A320+motherboard&qid=1602491015&sr=8-1 https://www.amazon.com/MSI-ProSeries-Motherboard-PRO-MAX/dp/B0822M7BS5/ref=sxts_sxwds-bia-wc-drs1_0?cv_ct_cx=A320+motherboard&dchild=1&keywords=A320+motherboard&pd_rd_i=B0822M7BS5&pd_rd_r=d3b1be8d-fa63-47c0-96ae-477e4c0ea91d&pd_rd_w=jjwwI&pd_rd_wg=PJoht&pf_rd_p=ecbfa24d-f48c-4d5c-83aa-9549f4e7c925&pf_rd_r=8CE8ES5EKMZFWTR1ES36&psc=1&qid=1602491015&sr=1-1-f6b8d51f-2c55-4dc3-89ad-0c3639671b2d https://www.amazon.com/ASRock-B450M-HDV-R4-0-Promontory-Motherboard/dp/B07MWGKHR9/ref=sr_1_7?dchild=1&keywords=A320+motherboard&qid=1602491015&sr=8-7 https://www.amazon.com/GIGABYTE-B450M-DS3H-Ryzen-Motherboard/dp/B07FWVJSHC/ref=sxin_9_ac_d_rm?ac_md=0-0-YjQ1MCBtb3RoZXJib2FyZA%3D%3D-ac_d_rm&crid=384UZPXUCZ473&cv_ct_cx=b450+motherboard&dchild=1&keywords=b450+motherboard&pd_rd_i=B07FWVJSHC&pd_rd_r=91c3582b-c68e-4af1-a383-50244bd332ed&pd_rd_w=d2bFG&pd_rd_wg=Av4Fn&pf_rd_p=fe2d64f9-a0d4-4c62-b195-55e240bc5b7e&pf_rd_r=TPBE5BVKV3KJ5S42EJSJ&psc=1&qid=1602490989&sprefix=B450%2Caps%2C290&sr=1-1-12d4272d-8adb-4121-8624-135149aa9081 https://www.amazon.com/MSI-ProSeries-Micro-ATX-Motherboard-PRO-M2/dp/B07XH4SK17/ref=sr_1_13?crid=384UZPXUCZ473&dchild=1&keywords=b450+motherboard&qid=1602490989&sprefix=B450%2Caps%2C290&sr=8-13

We're pushing your budget by about 20 or 30 dollars, but the price to performance is MUCH MUCH better than the PC you were intending to buy. I don't mean to sound condescending, please don't take it that way, just want to help. The PC parts you listed are older and far less powerful, and you are paying a pretty significant price when there are components of similar price with better performance!

The CPU I chose is similar in performance to the Ryzen 5 2600. Please make sure to get the AF version of the 1600, as it's an "updated" model compared to the old 1600.

Not really much to say about the motherboard other than MSI makes solid boards starting at that price. It won't disappoint you.

16GB of at minimum 3000MHz RAM. Faster RAM is important, especially for Ryzen. While 3000MHz is perfectly fine, if you would like to squeeze the budget by an extra 10$, I would get 3200MHz of the same RAM instead.

500GB might seem a bit small - and it is - but I'd rather put some of the money elsewhere in the rig as adding another SSD or HDD later is no hassle, and 500GB is plenty for a while.

The RX580 8GB will absolutely destroy a 1050Ti. I upgraded from a 1050Ti to an RX580 myself, and for roughly the same price, this one is a no-brainer. While performance varies from game to game, the RX580 is in a similar performance category as a GTX 1060.

This PC Part Picker list ends up above budget with the same components. Just made it to show no hardware incompatibilities, power consumption, etc.
