Preordered just in-case. Not sure I’ll stick with it because I was really hoping for the b550 to be cheaper on release.

Edit: opted for the Tomahawk b550

I just prefer a normal ATX and it’s $20 cheaper

If this meets your needs, it would be a hell of a board to own.

The B550 Tomahawk has two JRGB 4pin headers you can use. One is under the last PCIEx1 on the board. The other one is above the USB3 internal header. You can zoom in on the pic from the amazon listing.

People on amazon are saying it’s already updated and there should be a sticker on the box saying it’s compatible now.

Otherwise you can get

Or (a little RGB but not much)

The MSI B550 Tomahawk https://www.amazon.com/MSI-B550-Tomahawk-Gaming-Motherboard/dp/B089CWDHFZ/?tag=akshatblog198-20 or the Asus ROG Strix B550-F https://www.amazon.com/ROG-STRIX-B550-F-GAMING/dp/B088W7RKVZ/?tag=akshatblog198-20 are great motherboards that can handle a little overclocking

Yes. At that price bracket, it would be a better idea to go for something like a Ryzen 7 3700X paired with a B550 Tomahawk motherboard. You're getting double the thread count as the i7-9700, overclocking support, a better stock cooler, and PCIe 4 support at a lower price.

Hey, great choice dude, you won't regret the Meshify C. I think the only caveat to the Meshify C is the size. It's great if you have space constraints and don't intend to run a custom loop. I ended up switching out of my Meshify in favor of the larger PC-O11 Dynamic, and even then, I sort of wish I'd gone for the XL version instead, as I intend to run a custom loop once I get my hands on a 3080. The Meshify is also really easy to build in. Lots of built in channels and cable tie points for cable management.

Now, as far as mobos are concerned, I'd go for a B550 simply because the price differences aren't huge depending on the specific board, and for some small futureproofing. B550 boards support PCIE 4.0, and don't need BIOS updates to support 3rd gen Ryzen. PCIE 4.0 isn't huge right now, but it's more beneficial than not. I'm not sure what your budget is for each part, but here are some of suggestions for B550 boards.

ASRock B550 Steel Legend MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk And my personal favorite, and the one I currently use: ASUS ROG Strix B550-A

I like the ASUS board because I have a preference for the ASUS BIOS, and their lighting software is better than the rest in my opinion. Also it's the cleanest white mobo I could find with everything I wanted from it. Biggest deals were USB 3.0 on the side rather than bottom, PCIE 4.0, and must be white. Only thing missing is USB C, but that's not such a big deal.

Thanks a ton for the feedback! I am atm updating the build to your recommendations. But, there are just so many MBs and it is overwhelming lol. Here are a few I thought might be good. But, since 4th gen isn't out, they all just say "3rd gen Ryzen" under "Compatible Processor Types." I can't even really tell these apart. Let me know what you think of them, if you can. 1. [ASUS ROG Strix B550-F, $205](https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-ROG-B550-F-Motherboard-Addressable/dp/B088VSTS9H) 2. [MSI MPG B550, $220](https://www.amazon.com/MSI-Gaming-Carbon-Motherboard-B550GCARBWIFI/dp/B08BWZGSHB/ref=sr_1_7?dchild=1&keywords=MSI+B550+Gaming+Edge&qid=1600869273&sr=8-7) 3. [Another MSI MPG B550, $150](https://www.amazon.com/MSI-MPG-B550-Gaming-Motherboard/dp/B089CRF5XV/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=MSI+B550+Gaming+Edge&qid=1600869273&sr=8-2), i can't tell the diff from #2 except $70 and no wifi. 4. [MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk, $180](https://www.amazon.com/MSI-MAG-B550-TOMAHAWK-Motherboard/dp/B089CWDHFZ/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=MSI+B550+Gaming+Edge&qid=1600869273&sr=8-3).

Also, for the Storage. I will def get the 4th gen SSD, thx. But, the anata stick and the PSU are the only two pieces of the build I have already ordered:o. I can return it no problem. But, jsut curious, would it be fine to stick them both in? Wouldn't slow anything down?

Option 1 (cheaper with 1660):

CPU - Ryzen 5 2600X Good, powerful budget option. You may also want to consider the 3600 for a slightly higher clock speed.

https://www.amazon.com/AMD-Ryzen-Processor-Wraith-Cooler/dp/B07B428V2L/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=ryzen+5+2600&qid=1599511616&sr=8-4

Graphics card - GTX 1660 Super One of the best $/framerate ratios out there. Great for solid 1080p gaming.

https://www.amazon.com/Gaming-GeForce-Overclocked-Graphics-TUF-GTX1660S-O6G-GAMING/dp/B081SPGMBD/ref=sr_1_2?crid=1QES09NOYPI3B&dchild=1&keywords=1660+super&qid=1599511829&sprefix=1660+%2Caps%2C258&sr=8-2

Mobo - B450 Tomahawk Max Great quality mobo, a ton of upgradability and good value.

https://www.amazon.com/MSI-Crossfire-Motherboard-Tomahawk-B450TOMAMAX/dp/B07WF6ZQST/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3LSOT10XQWL79&dchild=1&keywords=b450+tomahawk+max&qid=1599511927&sprefix=b450%2Caps%2C267&sr=8-1

Option 2 (pricier with 3070):

CPU - Ryzen 7 3700X Just a powerful processor at a good price. Will ensure no bottlenecks with the rest of the build

https://www.amazon.com/AMD-Ryzen-3700X-16-Thread-Processor/dp/B07SXMZLPK/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1RHKFUQ1CSD45&dchild=1&keywords=3700x+ryzen+7+processor&qid=1599512074&sprefix=3700%2Caps%2C352&sr=8-1

Graphics Card - RTX 3070 Extremely powerful graphics card, good for 4k60/1440p120 with raytracing and DLSS

https://www.nvidia.com/en-gb/geforce/graphics-cards/30-series/rtx-3070/

Mobo - B550 Tomahawk A newer version of the B450 Tomahawk, with support for upcoming Ryzen gen 4 chips and PCIe Gen 4

https://www.amazon.com/MSI-MAG-B550-TOMAHAWK-Motherboard/dp/B089CWDHFZ/ref=sr_1_3?crid=QQQXLID8RFOF&dchild=1&keywords=tomahawk+max&qid=1599512390&sprefix=tomah%2Caps%2C259&sr=8-3

Also, you'll need new RAM. For option 1, go for at least 8Gb @ 3000Mhz DDR4. For option 2, at least 16Gb @ 3200Mhz DDR4.

Unfortunately, there isn't really anything better you could get for an LGA 1155 socket since its pretty old. I've been in a similar position before, where I couldn't really upgrade my PC without getting a new one. I just had to take the hit and get a new one, and it seems you'll have to do the same.
