Doing four of the SF-2000 @ $300 a pop would demolish my budget. I was hoping to keep it around $600-700ish for lighting in this setup, but I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for the info!
Would the Mars Hydro equivalent be the TS 1000w?
1 points • weissdrakon
Hard to argue it's not misleading when the description (Amazon sales page) for the MarsHydro TS1000W, for example, they literally say: "designed to replace a single-ended 1000watt HPS".

This is what I'm using https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PLY1WKK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_-7XdFb02M9BHM at about 18 inches from top of plant. It was closer until I moved it this morning.

This bad boy has treated me well. I think last I checked, I was reading over 80,000 lux over a foot away from the light.

This is the best light I found for the cost I have a 4 X 4: tent and it lights about half of it. Never hot even running 24/7 just warm. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PLY1WKK?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I'm curious though why would you cut a tent in half instead of just buying 2 tents? Or put up a divider in the tent

Both those lights will only flower in 2x2 at best . Don’t waste on burple. You’ll not be satisfied. I’ve got 5 lights in my closet I wish I never spent money on. Or a qboard but in that space you’d do great with this light.
Or bump it up with this and it’s dimmable!

N you’ll be good to go under budget.
Again people will suggest other lights but for that room you can’t beat the Mars for value and customer support.

correct, but it said it here so I was seeing if anyone had replicated such results. https://www.amazon.com/Spider-Farmer-Dimmable-MeanWell-Spectrum/dp/B07TS82HWB/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=spider+farm+sf1000&qid=1591587526&sr=8-2 claims 2.5g/w https://www.amazon.com/MARS-HYDRO-Hydroponic-Thermometer-Hygrometer/dp/B07PLY1WKK/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=ts+1000w+led&qid=1591587507&sr=8-2 claims 2.2g/w Ive seen 1.2g/w. I think it is possible to exceed these limits. considering the math on how much energy plants absorb from the sun. I just got really excited cause I havent been light shopping in awhile and I saw all this and I was wondering. Thanks for your input.

This is really a 150w led. And getting 2 of these would be a bad financial move

This seems like a good place to ask - I just started growing and started with some blurples on amazon. After trying out a COB I immediately replaced the blurples with COBs, no problem there.
But is it worth it to replace the COBs with a QB? I have two 250w (actual wattage) COBs for a 3x3 tent which ran me 300$, is there a 300$ QB that will fill this space alone on Amazon and would it be worth it to upgrade? I know blurples alone are bad, but COBs seem much better and if I can use them for this grow and then get a QB later I will, just not sure whats actually worth it at this stage.
1 points • FlattsLOL
Plenty of space. Those “BLURPLE” LEDs are getting outperformed by quantum boards and other new full spectrum LEDs. you’d be better off with one of the ones I linked below. If you can afford it go for the 2000. Only draws 310w from the wall.

I just bought a vivosun tent 2 weeks ago(4x4) and it's a good tent, don't get me wrong, but after a number of complaints I got a refund for it and they let me keep it. It just wasn't the same quality as my 3x3 viparspectra, which isn't like great quality either. They both are perfectly functional though and for a first grow I would go with either. If I was you I'd buy in parts as you need it as follows
Light for 3x3 (great bang for the buck) https://www.amazon.com/MARS-HYDRO-Hydroponic-Thermometer-Hygrometer/dp/B07PLY1WKK
3x3 tent (vivosun will work and is good, you can find ones for 30-40 more but you don't really need to pay more) https://www.amazon.com/VIVOSUN-Hydroponic-Observation-Window-Growing/dp/B01DXYMKIO/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=3x3+tent+grow&qid=1606928967&sprefix=3x3+tent&sr=8-3
You'll need fans for air movement and to help with climate control I jist use a couple $15 ones from home depot, you can get whatever you want
And then whatever seeds and medium and supplies you decide on. You'll need a good filter if you need to keep the smell discreet but you are probably 1 and a half months out from needing that so you can save up and research. Everyone says to get infinity but I can't comment on this as I haven't needed one yet, 2 months and 13 plants in.
Hope this helps man.

Some of the auto strains they have now are killer too and if you get good genetics you could do two plants in 5gal fabric pots in a 2x4x5 (feet) with a mars ts1000 and carbon filter, couple small clip fans and you’d be good. Probably get all that for under 300$ US. Not including soil/ nutes. I stagger mine for perpetual harvest while I crop out my photos in a 4x4x8. Could harvest in 70 days or so with the autos which is nice. Here’s a link to my little auto tent on Amazon it’s awesome no light leaks or smell.

Some quick options to span through price for you to compare, spider farmer 1000, Mars Hydro 1000, Vivosun, and MAXISUN.
Personally I would go with Spider Farmer, second choice is Vivosun. I like the Vivosun fabric bags. Price and quality seem good, I went with 7 gallon. Happy with my choice maybe I would go with 10 gallon if I could do it again. I am only growing like 1-2 at a time.

These are some recommendations obviously you don't have to go with these exact ones but it should give you a good idea where to start.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PLY1WKK/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_p7rUEbMFZ60M2 (the light is one place I'd suggest not skimping) this will do for 2 if you desided to grow just 1 you can look at something like their ts 600 instead)
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TF9E4UO/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_.9rUEb4T84C79
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072NB5WLR/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_6-rUEbSZ2X50E
You'll need an inline fan for air circulation the one I use is on the pricy side because I wanted one that is nearly silent but there are cheaper alternatives that work just as well you just need to make sure the cfm of the fan is enough for the size of your tent.
If smell will be a problem once you start Flowering then a carbon filter will be needed as well vivosun makes the one I use.
And a nutrient line my perfered are "nectar for the gods" as well as "blue planet"

The lack of windows in your garage is not as big a deal as you might think. When the plants go dormant, and the temperatures are in the 35-45 F range, they can get by without any light. Take a look at this video. Liguus keeps his plants in a cold, unlit garage in Chicago without any problems.

Nepenthes and tropical/subtropical sundews should do well together, as long as the sundews don't need to be sopping-wet.

You want a bright, full-spectrum, LED lighting system. There are a bunch of them on Amazon; search for "full spectrum led grow light". MARS HYDRO has some nice panels (here and here. If you want individual bulbs, then SANSI has some nice ones.
