So my bidet has an adjustment on the knob to set it for women.
You still use TP after but just to dry.

I bought this one about two weeks ago and I love it.
TBH I'd probably get the version without hot water though.
Installing was super easy, took about 15 minutes. I needed a flat head screwdriver and an adjustable wrench. I have 0 plumbing experience. The directions were pretty clear. Basically you take the toilet seat off, put the bidet plate over where the bolts on the seat are then put the seat back on over the toilet seat. The little lever sits to the left of the toilet and the nozzle is at at the back of the seat.
Then you turn off your water and empty the tank by flushing 2-3 times. Unscrew the little metal braided hose, attach a T-splitter that comes with the bidet to the toilet then re-attach the metal braided hose to the T-splitter and line up a new metal braided hose to the other part of the splitter to the bidet. There is also a plastic hose that attaches to the hot water supply to your sink but my sink was too far from my toilet so I didn't bother. I also heard read the plastic hose can leak. If you don't use the hot water you just put a little cap on the hot water intake part, but if you aren't going to use it you can just buy one without it.
There is a little guard over the nozzles in the toilet that I'll hit with my toilet brush every couple days, not really an issue cleaning it, at least not anymore than a regular toilet cleaning.
Can't answer the questions about durability, like I said it's only been two weeks. But even if it had to be replaced yearly, for $60 I wish I bought one years ago.

Just get a bidet attachment for your toilet. I love mine. Easy to set up, and pretty cheap. I have this one. It uses cold water, but it's cheap and simple.
But you can also get ones that you can attach a hot water intake like this one, but that's more complicated.
Or you could get a fancy bidet toilet seat with nifty features like this if you want to spend a bunch of money. Has an air drier, as well as warm water and a heated seat!

I have this one. It is super easy to install. Your seat may not sit high enough though but that's a fairly easy fix. Or you could buy a new seat.
It works well has plenty of cleaning power and has a setting for the lady bits. It's also easy to clean.
The construction is pretty simple which will probably help make it durable and reliable.

A bidet attachment! It works worlds better than toilet paper - cleaner, more comfortable, no mess and grossness, refreshing, and saves paper.
You can get this one for $64 on Amazon (also sold at Best Buy,) and it has all the bells and whistles. Warm water, dual nozzles (for front and rear,) and self-cleaning.

I frequently recommend this one available on Amazon. It can connect to the hot water supply of a nearby sink.

- I have something very similar to this one
- It won't affect water pressure, the LL is just saying that because they don't want any (possible) troubles
- Make sure you can hook it up yourself, or have someone hook it up for you, and remove it once you move out.
- Are you aware that this uses only COLD water? If you don't mind a shock to the system, it's fine. Mine is the same brand but has both hot and cold water, which is a bit trickier to install but very pleasant to the system.

They're so easy to install and just take it with you when you leave. Don't need to discuss it with the landlord.

I have this one. It is good if you have hot water near you can hook into. Being able to warm the water is nice.

Not as bad as you’d think. We got one with the option for hot or cold water, but can’t access the hot water from the toilet.
It’s not bad so far! Like running your hands under cool water. Bidet in Amazon

Bidets aren't all that expensive. This one is pretty nice are $60. There are less expensive models that get the job done too.

This is the one I have. Either the price has gone up or I’m totally misremembering, but either way, I would buy it again in a heartbeat.

$60 pressure/temperature mechanical, can't be beat, only feature that's lacking is air dry and preheated water but then that's $300+ territory

they have a hot water version but I don't think BB sells it.
the one I have is cold water only and I don't mind it at all (though in my apt the cold water lines aren't ice-cold).
and very easy to install, I did it myself and I'm fairly clueless about home improvement stuff. since I'm in a rental I needed one that didn't require any plumbing changes and was easy to remove when I move out.

I don't see no temperature control... Doesn't the cold water on your butt make you uncomfortable? Just spend the extra $15 and be kind to your behind.

There's way nicer ones out there, but this gets the job done. There cheaper versions without the hot water hookup, too.

I have a medical condition which is made more tolerable when I use a bidet do I've been using one for years. I have 2 bidets at home, both very basic toilet seat add-ons that cost less than $60 each. Cold water and hot water and a 3 position nozzle. I don't see how all those bells and whistles are necessary or provide any meaningful additional functionality. To my mind it's just one more thing to break, makes it harder to use the bidet because now you need to be sure you're close to an electric outlet, and makes the item 6x more expensive than a basic model.
Look for something like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00A0RX2UI

Luxe Bidet Neo 320 model... got it on Amazon.
So far so good! It takes some degree of plumbing skills and patience to install though. For the hot water we had to connect it to our sink’s water source (had to drill a hole under our cabinet to run the line to the toilet).
You can get non temp controlled ones (cheaper and easier to install) but I’m not a fan of getting spritzed with cold water down there. Luckily the kit came with all the parts needed to accomplish this (minus the drill component needed to make a hole in our cabinet).
Edited for clarification.

You have two options: get an electric bidet that heats up the water or hook up to the hot water supply under your sink. I just installed a Neo Luxe 320 a few days ago and hooked it up to the hot water line under the sink. They give you a 10 foot hose (which you can easily shorten as needed) to find the nearest hot water hookup. It was a fairly straightforward project with the exception of eliminating the tiniest of leaks at the T-fitting... teflon tape won the day.
This now feels like a nice upgrade to my previous Neo Luxe 120 which doesn't have hot water. Truth is, I would 100% use a cold water bidet over no bidet at all. The hot water is just a nice luxury.

I have no idea how a kitchen sink attachment constitutes a bidet. Do you lean forward to hose off your ass? What if you drop it while reaching around? The answers to these questions may never be known, but what is known is a model like this is great and attaches the same way. Or if you want the choice of warm water / a woman feature try this. ~My best YouTube ad read impression~

you know you can buy a Bidet on amazon for under $50. Its a much better way of cleaning your ass!

for /u/legendariel and /u/facemelt
I bought this one, and it worked great. All the parts came with it, had to youtube how to use plumber's tape properly.
Only trick was to be careful threading the attachment to the bidet itself because it was a plastic connection on it and you can mess up the threads if you just go all Hulk Hogan on it.
On using it, I run the self cleaning bit for a minute while I'm going to the restroom so that it gets the water that was in the hot water line out, because at that point it is now cold. Then it's glory time.
Never tried one of these before installing it, and I'm very surprised.
Also, be gentle on the pressure level, it can go to full Super Soaker 3000.
There is a cheaper model from them too, but I value my water temperatures.

Of course! This is the hot water one that we have for 50ish bucks: https://www.amazon.com/Luxe-Bidet-Neo-320-Non-Electric/dp/B00A0RX2UI
And the same brand makes a cold water only one (hooks up to the clean water line behind your toilet) for 30ish. I prefer the warm water one but you can't always run a line to your sink from your toilet and the cold water is actually more ok than I thought it would be lol
