Copy pasta FTW. You want to go to the next level? You want to go over 9000? Get one of these bad boys right here. 12 programmable buttons and a shift key to double the functional number. You also get three "modes" for a total of 72 saved templates. I have one mode for normal use, one mode for grading/emails, and one for gaming.

I’m also new and don’t know if this would help but you should consider getting a gaming mouse one that has the programmable buttons for the action bar I will add a link because this might not translate well

G502 could work, as well as some MMO mouse. A quick look on Amazon brought up the Logitech G600. I think that would work quite well.

https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Gaming-Backlit-Programmable-Buttons/dp/B0086UK7IQ I cannot recommend this mouse enough! I have purchased it as gifts multiple times and the lifespan has gone 5+ years with good build quality. It has RGB, but you can just turn it off you don't like it. It gives a lot of flexibility with the program that's built for the mouse, you can set up the 12 programmer keys on the side to like anything. They can run any key on the keyboard, macros, you can set them to toggle like (press x every 5 seconds for 50 seconds or press x every 5 seconds til I toggled off, etc). It's also on sale right now and is totally worth it.

I highly recommend getting an MMO mouse like the G600; it is very useful even outside of gaming.

Dodge is very important, so wherever you can easily hit it is best. And disable double-tap to dodge, to prevent misfires.

Rebind A and D to strafe left and right instead of rotate. You can rotate with your mouse.

After that, just bind your skill keys to whatever feels natural. I have weapon skills 2-5 on QERX and weapon swap on Z. My 6-0 skills are bound to the extra buttons on my mouse.

You can also use modifiers like Ctrl+Q, Shift+Q, Ctrl+Shift+Q to get more actions within easy reach.

Some other solutions:

  • Use a gamepad. the cross hotbar setup is pretty decent. They use face buttons and combos of L2, R2 and both to make more space. You can also increase further by having different hotbar states in and out of battle.
  • Use a 12-button mouse. This is what I do. With a 12 button grid (laid out in a 3x4 grid to match the mouse) I can cover all of my combat skills in lesss than 2 hotbars (buttons and buttons+CTRL). Then I use Q, E, and 1234 for buffs and cooldowns. These can be pretty cheap (solid one for under $30)

Only using this as an example, but have you looked into these types of mice at all? They might help you out by maximizing what you can do with one hand.

Other options are something like Say2Play for voice controls or Tobii for eye tracking. Again, possibly other options from different companies but I wanted you to know what's out there.

I also wanna call out that even MMO mouses dont have to be too much. Theres a bunch of ones that are consistently on sale.

here's the mouse I bought recently (non affiliate link cos im not a jerk) - I'd personally avoid mice under \~$20 (I dont think they'll last long, in my experience), so a biiit of a step up in price from what I would otherwise buy got me a lot more functionality.

Its still a luxury, dont get me wrong, and someone shouldnt feel the need to buy it if its too much for a mouse. As a decently frugal guy, I would never recommend someone just buying this on a whim if their setup is perfectly fine as is and working for them But if your current mouse is starting to click funny or otherwise on its way out, you can find solid enough MMO mice in the low 30s

One thing that has helped me a lot is an MMO mouse. I bought the Logitech g600. It has 12 buttons on the mouse and an alt key for a total of 24 extra buttons. It has made things way easier for me.

I recommend getting an mmo mouse. Razer has the Naga and Logitech has this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0086UK7IQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_aF18EbS3BENEY

I have the Logitech and use 1 through 10 plus - and =.

I then make binds like shift 1 or ctrl one so I can quickly and easily use abilities. That would give your 30 to 36 binds depending on your setup

May I recommend a mouse with buttons on the side? One of those MMO mice that you can modify the keybinds on.

Logitech G600 MMO Mouse, 20 Programmable Buttons https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0086UK7IQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_-7MsFbCTY4PPR

This is the one I use. Although it’s primarily used for MMOs, I utilize the keybinds in nearly every game I play including RimWorld. There are also similar mice that are wireless if the cord is an inconvenience.

Either way, I hope you beat your boredom and that your back gets better.

My problem sometimes, especially with MMOs, is when I have so many keybinds that there literally aren’t enough keys on the keyboard & you have to use modifiers. Also, my fingers aren’t long enough to easily reach some from their WSAD resting spot mid-fight.

I’ve started to experiment with one of those 20 or whatever-button mouses, but now I’m having to relearn where everything is again.

My favorite setup is an MMO mouse, the ones with a 12 key numpad on the side because you don't need to move your fingers away from your movement keys to use abilities. Classes in this game usually use up to 25-30 keys with some like Scholar maxing out 36 keybinds, so 3 hotbars assigned to the side buttons, a plain one, shift, and ctrl or alt depending on your preference, work great for me. But there's also standalone numpads you can buy that's just a numpad on its own, you could put that on either side of your setup and use it. In general those would be a cheaper option but not much better unless you'd also intend to move your movement keys to it.

The g600 is currently on sale on amazon: link. It gets generally favorable reviews but i have had issues in the past with buttons going out (namely the third mouse button). My favorite feature of it is onboard memory profiles, I was able to switch from PC to PS4 and the mouse would remember my custom keybinds. Definitely register it for the warranty, though.

Logitech G600. Going four years strong using it, best mouse I can possibly recommend, especially at its comparatively inexpensive pricepoint. Currently it's under $40USD on Amazon. 12 thumb buttons, on-the-fly keymap switching, left/right scroll wheel tilt, ring-finger click, it's a godsend. If you bind ring-click to "Shift", shift-clicking is smooth af. The lights are subtle and non-obstructive, the mouse's entire design if very comfortable to hold, there's never any issue utilizing the many buttons it has, just a 100% enhancement to gameplay. Imagine your left hand only having to use abilities and your right hand managing food and switches. Splitting up all that functionality will greatly enhance efficiency. Oh! And the button just under the mode switch, bind it to space and you can spacebar through quests EZPZ one-handed. I can't possibly sing enough praise about this mouse, it's legit stupidly incredible for how cheap it is.

To consider a different direction altogether, have you considered an MMO mouse?

https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-Impact-Buttons-Precision-Programmable/dp/B07HC4NBQ8/

https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Gaming-Backlit-Programmable-Buttons/dp/B0086UK7IQ/

Here's a couple of the cheaper options so that'd be good to at least try it out and see. This moves your standard 123(...)0-= keybinds onto your right thumb, leaving your left pinky available for Shift and Ctrl (I personally rebind Caps Lock to Control using an external program), so my middle fingers never have to leave WASD. If you have the "bottom left" and "bottom right" bars enabled in your Interface options, you can bind them to a combination of Shift-# or Ctrl-# to have just about everything available.

This also facilitates certain "universal" mindsets, where for me, 0 is my class's movement ability, Shift+0 is my mount ability, - is my interrupt, = is my self-heal, shift+= is my defensive cooldown, my AoE's are usually on 6 and 9, main abilities and rotation are on 1-5, offensive cooldowns/trinkets are on shift+(1-5), etc.

It's a completely different option altogether, when you're probably used to holding your mouse with your thumb, but once you get used to it, you have access to just about every skill you have.

Yeah... three button mice are extremely rare these days. Usually "middle click" is replaced by the wheel click, which I personally hate. Tactile-wise, it's just not the same, usually with quite a bit more energy required to mouse-click.

Logitech makes an "MMO" mouse, the G600, that has three actual buttons. It also has a programmable grid of 12 buttons on the thumb side and a shift function, so between all the buttons on the mouse, you can get like 30+ bindings.

It has a traditional mechanical scroll wheel, but aside from an Apple Magic Mouse, I don't think you're going to find anything that has the phone/trackpad-style input for scrolling on a mouse.

you can't go wrong with just about ANY Logitech mouse.

If you wish to have a mouse that supports macros, Steel Series and Logitech have got you.

Logitech offering - About 30 odd dollars after shipping and taxes.

Steelseries - About 30 dollars.

If you really want to make it bones bare, there's a few others with less buttons and they're cheaper as well.

Does it have to be the witcher 3. Diablo or path of exile would be easy to play one handed.

I honestly have no clue when RGB and PC Gaming became a thing, but I don't mind it. All of my gear is black, with RGB backlights, so i can turn it off and have a perfectly normal looking keyboard, and a fat mouse. When I'm tripping balls tho, the rainbow gear is fantastic.
