I have these from Amazon and they work great. I do have to point the remote sorta at the side of the TV to change the colors, but that's just because I didn't want the sensor sticking out. Its not a big deal since I don't change colors much though.

Hey, sorry for the late response. These are the lights I use. I usually prefer Hue lights, but these are <$15 on Amazon. I’ve had them for a while now - highly recommend.

LIFX Z LED Strips & Standard Connectors

Hi everyone!

Is it possible to cut the LIFX Z LED strips and use standard "corner" connectors like these (or others)? I'd like to use the strip to light behind my TV but would love to use corner connectors to avoid hot spots in the corner by bunching up LEDs — like you can see in the demo video here.

I used one of these for ours last year and loved it! Super bright, tons of color options you can change with the remote, and it plugs into a standard USB port so you can use any power bank.

I highly recommend these led lights attached to the bottom, connected to a battery pack strapped on ur deck. Me and a friend did this, it looks amazing, works great, is customizable, and best of all costs like 30 dollars, not the 150 for any of the lights on the market rn

Those cheap but very long-lasting RGB lights strips. One for each monitor and an extra one for the desk (just put it there cause I had to replace the one for the tv)

I got them at Wallmart for 5$ each and it comes with a little remote control but it's something like this

I got this one. I like it because it’s modular. I can keep adding or removing parts of strips, if I need. There’s quite a few of them on Amazon, I’m thinking they all work similarly.

I've used basic USB LED lights such as this on a few desks - I like that I can change the light colors but it's really only applicable a few times due to the tape wearing down after usage.

haha the lighting is my favorite part, but it’s super simple. to the left I have an ikea lamp with this bulb in it that I control with a remote. Then behind the tv I put this light strip . I also control the strip with a separate remote so it’s a tiny hassle to turn both of them on but I only paid about $25 for this set up

This is the lamp.

They go so well together and totally set the perfect mood in the room!

Here is some more info: Bought this strip on Amazon, controller is now non-functional so I wanted to repurpose the strips with an Arduino. I know it's a 5050 strip but I can't find what type of chips they use and I'm new enough to this that I don't know the type by looking at it.

This is a picture I took of the strip.

Variable lengths, I wanted to cut the strip into single chip uses or chain up to maybe 10 LED's max.

The light strip behind my TV is from Amazon. The squares are Nanoleaf Canvas, they’re awesome but a little pricey.

Hell yeah man, you have plenty of space. Would really tie the room together thematically too. Like a mini-library. As long as you don't have any rambunctious pets that would knock stuff over, sculptures (Or Lego, my preference haha) would be awesome on a bookcase or glass door cabinet. Depends on the look you're going for. I think a cabinet of the height that you have on the right there would keep the room visually open. A taller bookshelf (or two) would be a really interesting kind of effect, like a library with a semi-hidden desk area. Hard to tell if theyre the same size with the panorama artifacts, but those two bookshelves in the back left would do the job, if you felt like rearranging. Don't mind me though, I'm a serial re-arranger. Also I feel dumb for not noticing the whiteboard right next to the corkboard, I must have been zoomed in or something.

As for LEDs (your other comment), I've never had an issue with simple USB strips designed for monitors. The ones I got are very simple, I actually have them plugged into my monitors (most monitors have a USB input for service or accessories). You turn on the monitor, the light turns on. Simple as that. I do wish I didn't have to turn on my monitors (two of them are old TVs so I don't think they have a standby mode like my monitors). But that's not the LEDs fault. I use these, because I originally thought they'd just be around the edges of my monitor. I ended up using them inside my computer case and on the back of my desk.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072QWJRBS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It depends on where you want them. It would be a bit overwhelming to try and LED your bookcases. Would look uneven to just do one of them, but way too much to do all of them. I'd say you're better off going with at most 2 simple USB LED strips: one on the back of the desk, one around the monitors.

I have several smart bulbs which are finicky, I got them for free. Wouldn't have bought them on my own, and having experienced them I'm not sure I'll buy more. That said, I haven't bought the ones straight from the well-known companies (I have a few from some unknown Chinese manufacturer), which I imagine are simpler to set up. Honestly with all of the white in that room, RGB recessed bulbs would look pretty great. Might be worth the hassle, honestly.

One last idea to consider. If you're willing to do a bit of Ikea-hacking, you could combine two shelves so they're functional in both directions: One of these on the bottom, with the opening towards the kitchen (less wide, i assume) https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/billy-bookcase-white-s09017826/, and one/two of this sort of thing facing the desk: https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/eket-storage-combination-with-feet-white-s49306872/ Obviously the exact combination would probably differ, but you get the idea. Extra desk storage/display area as well as outward facing display/storage.

Sure, everything I bought is from Amazon so I'll link it all below...

The RGB light strip is pretty basic, has a few different functions and is controlled via remote, I have them behind my TV and bed frame as well. Can all be controlled by the same remote.

The "headset stand" is actually just a dimmable desk lamp that I discovered will also hold my headphones on it lol. I have the RGB strip plugged into the back of this lamp for power and easier wire management.

Clock is an Echo Show 5 which has Alexa built in, use this to turn on and off the main lights in my room via voice.

And lastly the desk pad is a large size from Grey Rhino.
