34 inch Ultra Wide -- LG -- USB-C

LG 34WN80C-B - definitely pricier than I was wanting to spend initially (was hoping to be around the 300-400 mark, but I am very glad that I splurged.

The difference between a 1080p ultrawide and a 1440p is incredible. Also, the USB-C connectivity that provides power and display to/from my MacBook is so convenient. If you want an ultrawide, you can not go wrong with this one. 100000% recommend.

I ended up ordering this on Amazon (link below). I watched some reviews and it seems like it’s popular to have three windows open in thirds on ultramodern monitors.

r/ultrawidemasterrace recommends you get 1440p instead of 1080p; it’s supposedly a huge difference for both quality and screen real estate.

My monitor arrives on Thursday. I’d be happy to tell you what it’s like to use if you remind me then. :)

A mixture of coding/gaming.

I know I want a 34" ultrawide curved WQHD monitor with a Vesa mount.

My current setup is a 4k in the middle with my 1080s on either side all horizontal on a 3 monitor arm stand but I want to move my 4k over to my other desk and replace it with the monitor mentioned above and flip the 1080s to be vertical.

Refresh rate has never really been a need for my since I'm not very competitive in my games (although I've heard once you go 144hz you can't go back) but having looked into some of the monitors they all seem to be at least 75hz hence the initial question

The Vesa mount is key in my decision

The one I currently have my eye on is https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07YGZ7C1K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_LmjhFbKT2D0HG

Edit: budget is loose cause I plan on this being my last monitor for a while (at least until I decide to replace my side monitors)

got two of these

> Why

Because a single 27” monitor felt small

> How are your orienting it?

Gonna try side by side and see if it hurts my neck.

> I got TOS to feel fancy while losing money, I’d like to spend some cash to lose money as well

This was also a big reason. Gonna slap some charts on there, pretend I know what I’m doing.

For 34" I have read that the Alienware is the best in its class, no USB-C hub though. For best Macbook compatibility I would think to go with LG.

LG 34WN80C

This one has the specs you are looking for but the USB-C is only a 60W and the MBP charge at 85W I believe.

I have a LG 34WN80C. It is well priced for 3440x1440, has usb-c, DP, HDMI, usb-hub and is curved which I like with 99% sRGB.

i have the 34UC80 - but that one doesn't have USB-C so i just use a USB-C to HDMI adapter....works fantastic - but no power delivery. I use a dock a lot though, so less needed.

If needing USB-C with power delivery (up to 60w so you're good on the 9300, which uses 45w). Of course, this is a brand new price - I am sure eBay or somewhere has for cheaper. I believe I got the 34UC80 for around $350 1 1/2 years ago.

Picked this up off amazon for $506. Best value for an ultrawide that I could find. It's amazing for work and productivity. 300 Nits, USB C, 60w PD, and USB hub in the back. Link

Total newb. I have a curved LG from work that’s really nice, apparently cost $1,000 a year ago. Will this work for games or are gaming PC monitors different? Mine is like this:

I don't necessarily, but I like this monitor, and it happens to be USB-C. My graphics card has HDMIx1 and DPx1, I was hoping I could run the USB-C monitor off the integrated graphics on the motherboard, and my gaming monitor off the DP on the graphics card. I guess not, though, I'll keep shopping for an ultra-wide.

$460 to spend on a monitor. Will be used mainly for coding and light video watching. What ultrawide would you recommend.

I'ma programmer and finally want to upgrade my HP 27F to something better since were doing more WFH.

EDIT: Would prefer curved monitor so I decided my budget <$550. I just honestly need the text to be super clear.

currently looking at :

This is a great unit for office productivity on a Mac:

If you’re on a new-ish MacBook Pro, this unit has usb-c, which lets you run a single cable to the monitor that will carry your video, data, and power all in one.

I'm leaning this right now. Wish I could find something comparable with higher than 60Hz, but if I can't it's not the end of the world. I won't be gaming on it TOO too much.

Can someone help me understand the difference between the LG 34WN80C-B and LG 35WN65C-B? From what I can tell it's 34" bs 35" and an IPS panel vs VA panel, but neither of these details really matter for what I'm using it for. Am I missing anything else?

I appreciate all the insight, seriously. I posted in this sub because my girlfriend uses Photoshop but I mainly do videos for YouTube. I’ve noticed for awhile that when uploading to YouTube the colors end up noticeablely different than how I edited them in Premiere Pro or Davinci. I’m not looking to get anything super expensive as of right now considering both of us are aspiring artists, me with music and her with graphic design, so we’d both just like something that is more accurate than what I’m currently using.

are any of these worth considering for their price?

There are 3440x1440 monitors that are much cheaper than the BenQ one and, imo work better for your particular situation.

If you aren't gaming much (if at all) on this monitor and using it solely for productivity, you'd be better off either spending less on a 3440x1440 60hz monitor or saving up money for a 32:9 monitor.

https://www.amazon.com/LG-34WN80C-B-inch-Connectivity-Compatibility/dp/B07YGZ7C1K/ref=sr_1_12?dchild=1&keywords=3440x1440&qid=1587021831&sr=8-12

https://www.amazon.com/ViewSonic-VG3448-Inch-Ultra-Wide-DisplayPort/dp/B07S3ZYP94/ref=sr_1_7?dchild=1&keywords=3440x1440&qid=1587021902&refinements=p_n_feature_thirteen_browse-bin%3A17751774011&rnid=17751770011&s=pc&sr=1-7

For your particular situation, either of these monitors will provide the same results as the monitors you listed but for $200+ less.

Your other option would be saving up for a 32:9 monitor. Overkill for me, but might not be for you, only you know that.

3440x1440 is capable of splitting two windows comfortably on the eyes, and is more than enough to increase productivity. If I were in your shoes, I'd grab one of the monitors I linked above and save the $350+.
