LG 34GN850 3440x1440 144Hz IPS Ultrawide listed at $999.99 USD on Amazon

LG 34N850-B 34 Inch 21: 9 Ultragear Curved QHD (3440 x 1440) 1ms Nano IPS Gaming Monitor with 144Hz and G-SYNC Compatibility

34GN850-B

Just saw it is officially listed on Amazon US at $999.99. It appears to be a direct refresh of the 34GK950F with some upgrades to refresh rate (overclockable to 160Hz), a better stand, and hopefully some improved response times. It looks promising, and at $999.99 it seems like a reasonable release price.

Heya! Definitely the perfect fit for your needs is the LG 34GN850-B; native 144hz overclockable to 160, 1ms gtg response time available, HDR 400 cert and G-Sync compatible; absolutely loving it, especially for the cost v specs :D

I don’t know about 43 inch Looking it up doesn’t seem like a popular panel size. Because of that you may be limited.

You’ll probably have better luck getting better quality at the 38” size.

For me I am rocking an lg34gn850 which I could not be happier with

LG 34GN850-B 34 Inch 21: 9 UltraGear Curved QHD (3440 x 1440) 1ms Nano IPS Gaming Monitor with 144Hz and G-SYNC Compatibility - Black (34GN850-B) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B086XLLG28/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_iGmKFbPBN45CN?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

I got this model for the gsync/ips panel/144hz/hdr features

For me this one also doubles as a work monitor so this particular monitor had some good reviews for text readability as well.

With that said no one can really say what best features you should look for but you more have to think of what you need out of it.

I ranked my features I wanted in this order

  1. Ultra wide for multitasking work and gaming
  2. Readability and brightness
  3. Ips panel
  4. Price
  5. Colors and true hdr (lots of halfsie hdr going around in monitors)
  6. Refresh rate and gaming performance

34GN850 Now Available On Amazon?

https://www.amazon.com/LG-34N850-B-Inch-Ultragear-Compatibility/dp/B086XLLG28/ref=sr_1_1

I imagine there's quite a few of you like me who've been waiting on this monitor.

Since I have a ton of Amazon rewards points, I usually pop on to Amazon a couple of times a day to check if this thing has been listed yet. I saw it first pop up a couple of days ago but it was still unavailable. But just now, to my surprise, I saw it listed as available for purchase for so I quickly pulled the trigger.

I now have an estimated delivery date of May 18 - May 20.

A 2070 super should be just fine on a 3440x1440p UltraWide Monitor. The newest lg just dropped and it’s a LG 34N850. It has nice specs and is also an IPS display. I probably won’t turn on ray tracing when playing at that 1440p resolution because the performance drop is pretty heavy but without it you should be fine.

Switching from duel monitor to single monitor, but need some suggestions.

So this isn’t actually for me, my husband wants to change his set up and for Christmas I’m looking to get him a new monitor. It has to be good for gaming but he’s also a software engineer so it has to have be okay for work too. We’re working with an Nvidia 2070 graphics card, and looking for a 21:9 aspect ratio.

I’m thinking this one

LG 34GN850-B 34 Inch 21: 9 UltraGear Curved QHD (3440 x 1440) 1ms Nano IPS Gaming Monitor with 144Hz and G-SYNC Compatibility - Black (34GN850-B)

However, I am a console gamer and not well versed in computer hard ware so does anyone have some guidance on this? I honestly don’t really know what I’m looking for or even what questions I should be asking, any recommendations would be really appreciated!!

Experience returning an unfaulty monitor to Amazon if you open it and try it out for a few days and are unhappy with it?

I'm considering purchasing a 34" 1440p 21:9 ultrawide monitor. I'm torn between the LG 34GN850-B and the Alienware AW3420DW (any recommendations/opinions are appreciated!). The monitor will be used primarily for gaming.

However, I've never used an ultrawide before and I'm not sure how I'll respond to it. I've heard some say they ended up not liking it, as it feels like the top of the screen has been cut off.

In the unfortunate event that I end up strongly disliking the ultrawide monitor, would I be able to return it to Amazon, even if it is not defective? I've heard of others returning monitors because they were unhappy with the color hues, so it seems as though it shouldn't be a problem.

Any tips are much appreciated!

I am currently using the LG 34GN850-B and I freaking love it, but shortly after picking this up I learned about the LG 38WN95-C and am seriously considering sending the 34" Ultragear back for it. It seems to check all the boxes and even better in some areas. Very tempted... regarding the Odyssey, I read up on this and while it is innovative, as a software developer I just think it will be too much for anything outside of gaming. I already know 1440p 144hz is the sweet spot, but coming from a 27" ASUS PG279Q to this 34" Ultrawide is heavenly and I can imagine 4 more inches to the 38" might be the best of all worlds.

I'm saving up for this guy: LG 34GN850-B link for gaming and productivity

Reasons for getting it:

  • 1440p
  • Ultra-wide
  • curved
  • G-sync
  • 34 Inch
  • response time
  • USB Ports
  • 144khz response time

Is there anything sub $1K (or around $1k) with similar specs I can't find anything with similar stats. Please help me rest my mind that I haven't missed something. Doesn't have to be on amazon as I'll have cash for it.

I've been out of the loop for a few months.

I'm considering an upgrade to a 3440x1440 monitor. I all currently running a GTX 1070 though. Couple of questions:

Would a 2080S have enough horsepower to drive reasonable framerates at that resolution?

I'm considering this monitor. Is there a cheaper alternative, maybe without the extra G-Sync premium? I couldn't find something.

I haven't been keeping up with news and announcements, is there any reasonable timeline on RTX 3xxx cards yet?

This does have a physical G-Sync V1 module. Native refresh rate is 144hz but it has been downclocked to utilize the Nvidia hardware. If you want better specs, at the tradeoff of worse looks and warranty, the LG Ultragear 34GN850 is available on Amazon.

Hey I've tried that, always have HDR enabled under display settings on Windows when I try it. I get the prompt that HDR is turned on and working, it just looks bad. Everything looks washed out, loss in detail etc. Does the LG CX need some setting enabled that I'm missing? I attached a screenshot. Thanks for the input. I used HDR on the LG 34GN850-B and it looked really good, on the same PC setup too.

Do you have a suggestion? It seems my options are limited to this:

https://www.amazon.com/LG-34GN850-B-Inch-UltraGear-Compatibility/dp/B086XLLG28

But the contrast ratio seems again, a step down from my trust $300 Vizio LED D32 D1. (1000:1 on the LG vs whatever my D32 has, (says 200,000:1 dynamic, not sure how that translates to static)

My other concern is even being able to drive this thing to get close to 144. I will be running an i7 10700k w/ 3070. I have a feeling I'm going to have a hard time hitting 70-90 much less 144.

Is that the LG 34GN850-B? I was tempted by that one, I think 3440x1440 would be a sweet spot.

I'll probably need to wait for the 3000-series NVIDIA to come out before I made a jump like that though.

Looking for help with peripherals

Recently built my first PC! Now I'm looking to upgrade the surrounding pieces. Any feedback is welcome as I am not very knowledgeable in terms of hardware. Also, here is the pcpartpicker list.

  • For a monitor, I was looking at this LG one (34 in ultrawide). I have looked up some reviews and I mostly just want to make sure it's a good decision before I pay for it.
  • For a keyboard, I have no clue what I'm looking at. I'm not sure what kind of mechanical keyboard fits me best, or if a non-mechanical keyboard is better.

Like I mentioned before, I don't know much about hardware, but would appreciate any information you might have. Thanks in advance.

It's technically a FreeSync monitor, but it's one of the few that has G-Sync compatible certification from Nvidia. I've been using on a 2080 Ti and seems to work fine.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B086XLLG28?tag=pcpapi-20&linkCode=ogi&th=1&psc=1 Curved g sync monitor. Nothing wrong with getting the i9 if youd like it. It performs similarly in single core workloads (gaming) but no harm getting it if youd like it. The screen size wont matter you could play your games on an 80 inch tv, as long as your graphics card can push enough frames to make the resolution you play at playable youre good, 1440p the 2080 ti should have no issue providing high frame rates, I think the 3080ti will cost about the same as the 2080ti. The 3080 ti will likely support 4k gaming at around 100 fps on tough games which is crazy to think about as the 2080 ti on 4k maybe pushes 60.

Is the only difference between this one the LG 34GN850-B the HDR400?

E: I guess they both have HDR400

E2: I guess uw masterrace is also confused and this model in the OP was just released: https://www.reddit.com/r/ultrawidemasterrace/comments/j32vpd/lg34gp83a_vs_lg_34gn850/

E3: Looks like this model might actually have lower color gamut than the 34GN850(?):https://www.reddit.com/r/ultrawidemasterrace/comments/idr9xq/lg_34gp83ab_34_inch_21_9_ultragear_curved_qhd/

E4: Specs look identical on LGs site: 34GP83A-B and 34GN850 so IDFK lol

E5: According to my 3rd edit, if true (Big if), this model is a 34UW analog to the 27GL83A-B, which is just a lower (clamped?) gamut 27GL850. Which if true, I would go here rtings comaprison to see what the difference would mean for you.

So I recently acquired a 2070 Super that is currently being wasted on a single, 15-year old 1080p 60hz monitor that doesn't even have adaptive sync. Since my rig probably can't handle the Samsung Odyssey G9 and it seems to have been recalled for now anyway, I'm currently stuck deciding which 34" ultrawide to get between this Alienware and this LG Ultragear on Amazon. The LG seems to be the correct choice but I've been living under a rock for the better part of a decade so I've got a couple of dumb questions before I decide. Is there a significant difference between being "G-Sync Compatible" vs "G-Sync"? How significant is the difference between 120hz and 144hz?

I’m happy for you, but I believe you’re mistaken about a “34” curved 100hz 4k monitor”. I don’t believe any such monitor exists. If you want a high-refresh, low-response-time 34” ultra wide, then you’re looking at 3440x1440p, which already will be taxing on your system at high settings (but totally doable for your build). Running the number of pixels in a purported 4K ultra wide would be insane.

I just did a quick search and I’m not seeing any 4K ultrawides (and if there were, they’d cost at least $5000 and require a 2080ti). Perhaps you’re mixed up about the monitor?

Edit: also, for any monitor you get, I’d highly recommend GSYNC. I doubt your work monitor has that. If you want to go 34” ultra wide, these are you best two options:

Alienware AW3420DW

LG 34GN850-B

r/buildapcsales • comment

These are the top two in this segment, IMO. And at ~$100 more than the 34GK950F, I would choose either of these. For most users I'd recommend the LG 34GN850-B as it is the overall superior display. The Alienware offers a better warranty, and potentially better adaptive-sync performance and motion handling at lower frame rates (I tend to go for the max visual quality possible around 60fps, but I know not everyone does that).

I don't have room for dual 27's, but I've been looking at UWs or 4K/5K 27", also for coding and paired to Macbook Pro. Dell U2720Q seems a good pick for office monitor, but it's only 60Hz. I'm intrigued by LG 34WK95U, but it's super expensive, even with 20% LG discount I get through workplace. I've considered 5K LG monitor they made for Apple - spendy. LG 34GN850-B is an RTINGS pick for MacBooks, also spendy.

LG 34GN850-B VS. ASUS ROG Swift PG258Q VS. VG259QMY

Hey everyone, so the time has come where I'm upgrading my entire setup which involves an upgrade in my monitor so this 60 HZ can get out of my sight!I've been looking around and found some options and I've learned I can't get the best of both worlds. Me being both a casual gamer and also enjoys my competition I'm conflicted between a few.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B086XLLG28/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1I was considering this for all my casual games when I want more pretty colors and graphics.

https://store.asus.com/us/item/201804AM260000002/monitorsgaming-ASUS-ROG-Swift-PG258Q-24.5%E2%80%9D-Full-HD-1080p-1ms-240Hz-DP-HDMI-Eye-Care-G-SYNC-eSports-Gaming-Monitor

And then this one for when I want to take my competition seriously.

But I was thinking that it would be pointless swapping out the monitors because wouldn't it mess with my field of view between games? Plus Idk anyone who swaps out monitors like that

BUT! Then I came across THIS monitor.

https://www.asus.com/us/Monitors/TUF-GAMING-VG259QMY/

It is also an IPS panel with 280 HZ so basically has the best of both worlds (Minus the extra size from the LG)But I saw the price tag and saw that it was even cheaper than the Rog Swift PG25. It has 1 MS, IPS panel and all the other goodies we want but is CHEAPER than a TN Panel??

Can I get some feedback and possibly some personal recommendations from everyone?

Thanks!

1080 is just a bad resolution for that size, the AOC all the way from your original list.

Depending on the budget though here are some IPS 34" panels worth checking out as well:

The touted LG34GN850 as well as the slightly less expensive Acer X34 or the snazzy Alienware A3420DW

If we're talking 49"
There's the Samsung CRG9, AOC AGON AG493UCX, Dark Matter 49, or you can wait for the 2nd gen Samsung Odyssey G9, all of these are somewhat scarce/pricey options though.

Honorable mentions:
LG38GN950 - 38" option that looks amazing.
