I was going to purchase this monitor before I settled on a dell 23 inch one with the same specs. It’s 100 dollars off. Not curved but three screens of these will definitely be under $1,000

It's confirmed gonna give me the hz I want via HDMI and it was on sale

gonna wait until more prevalent HDMI 2.1 monitors are here to eventually upgrade to a 1400p that can get 144hz over HDMI

Thank you all for your knowledgeable responses. What monitor do you have? I'll have to do more research and play around with this. It suits my lifestyle more than a desktop PC would since I'm always on the go, later on in life I'll build my dream PC.

Mainly read non sense on non sense websites which is why I took a chance here on Reddit, didn't think anyone would respond so thank you again. I'll give it a try and order the adapter.

I'm looking at this monitor and I'll possibly get two of them if this laptop can handle it. I'll definitely take the suggestion and get the ram upgrade.

I'm looking at this one

That’s my setup. I used to game on my 4K LG tv but noticed screen lag while playing Gears 5. It was only a 60hz tv.

I bought a 27” LG 1ms 1080p 144hzmonitor and that’s what I play on now. No screen lag. I love it. The keyboard is only there for typing. One day I’d like to try out keyboard+mouse just to see what it’s like.

LG 27GL650F-B 27 Inch Full HD Ultragear Gaming Monitor with 144Hz Refresh Rate and HDR 10 This monitor is great. It is my main monitor and has a good stand and nice graphics.

LG Electronics 27MK60TM-B 27in 27 Inch Full HD IPS LED Monitor w/Radeon FreeSync 1 x D-Sub & & Dual HDMI Ports (Renewed) This other one is also nice, and cheap and also work well.

Both of them work with V-sync and Free-sync

Edit: the second one does not have an adjustable stand and has a pretty short stand

well i can only speculate atm based on USD prices

$230 https://www.amazon.com/ViewSonic-VX2758-P-MHD-Frameless-FreeSync-DisplayPort/dp/B07SC5NH91/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?crid=3NOR5NELWNMM&keywords=144hz+1080p+freesync&qid=1578848863&sprefix=144hz+1080p+free%2Caps%2C127&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExSzBEMTZRV0VTU0VFJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMTQwNjQwM0hOTlNXN0wyUTBXQSZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwNjEzOTYyRkQyOE04OFM4RFIzJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfYXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==

then i would say depending on your budget 1660super which is $220-240 or the new 2060 ko that just came out for $300. both would be capable of 1440p 60fps or 1080p 144hz. so i would look for a monitor with 144hz freesync VA panel personally it gets the best of both worlds response time and good color spectrum. i personally like LG monitors they should be somewhere around the same cost as the view sonic

$300 and has HDR will overall give you a better picture in games https://www.amazon.com/LG-27GL650F-B-Ultragear-Compatible-Monitor/dp/B07R7636MH/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=144hz+1080p+freesync+LG&qid=1578849137&sr=8-4

These were a couple other monitors I saw but I'm not sure how good/worth it they are. And considering they are 27in. 1080p monitors, I don't know if I'd experience issues with sitting too close and able to notice the pixel density or not.

ok, In that case, to get 144Hz you will need the DP connectors so you'll most likely have to flip flop the cables or get a second GPU and set it as the GPU to use on sim racing games

Personally I would just flip flop the cables

As for monitors, I would pick this, it even has Gsync!

To be honest, The LG 27GL650F-B has a Full HD Ultragear G-Sync which is Compatible with Gaming, giving a great experience.

BUT

The Dell Monitor has Truly Immersive Gameplay, with remarkably vivid visuals that draw you deeper in the game. The 1500R curved screen enhances field of vision and reduces distortion, glare and reflection to create a truly immersive gaming experience.

I would go with the Dell Monitor.

This one is a little over your budget but a very good monitor. It's one of the best 1440p 144hz monitors on the market with a great free sync range and great motion handling too.

and IMHO curved is a big gimmick it doesn't do anything and at worst makes viewing angles worse.

this one sits well below your desired target. Though I don't know much about this one admittedly. But I would suggest you pay a bit of the premium to get a very good QHD 144hz monitor.

I like Dell and Samsung (LG ok too) for that price range.

This one seems nice: Dell S-Series 27-Inch Screen LED-Lit Gaming Monitor (S2719DGF); QHD (2560 x 1440) up to 155 Hz; 16:9; 1ms Response time; HDMI 2.0; DP 1.2; USB; FreeSync; LED; Height Adjust, Tilt, Swivel & Pivot

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00N2L5CXO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_BD8zFbKPK9MVF

And this one from LG I’ve heard good things about (for 450 you can get 34 inch curved version!)

1ms mode is basically backlight strobbing, so it's not 1ms as advertised. Tl;dr here. I'd recommend Acer GN246HL, been using it since release and never gave me any ghosting or backlight bleeding problems. But if you want to go for the IPS route, I'd recommend LG's 27GL650F

I wouldn't worry about DP vs HDMI too much, any modern monitor will support DP, as will modern GPUs.

There are many good monitors for under $300. I actually just made a list for a buddy of mine that I'll copy+paste. Keep in mind, these are purely my opinions, which you should supplement with other opinions/reviews/tests as well.

This is the best but at your budget https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07KXHTRT5?tag=rtings-mn-r-20&ie=UTF8

This one is a little cheaper, also very good https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07R7636MH?tag=pcpapi-20&linkCode=ogi&th=1&psc=1

Under $200, this is probably best https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VFPYRP3?tag=pcpapi-20&linkCode=ogi&th=1&psc=1

as an alternative, this one is probably the best for pure gaming https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SXCS74Z?tag=pcpapi-20&linkCode=ogi&th=1&psc=1

I am wanting to get a new monitor as I have an old Dell monitor that is only 60Hz. I'm mainly thinking I want a 27" screen as I think anything bigger would be too much for my space.

My PC specs are: Intel Core i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 8gb of RAM (Something I plan to upgrade when I can)

Was hoping to get some perspective from you all as I've found some monitors on Amazon but want to make sure I get the most for my money. I'm more of a casual gamer but still want to optimize the best I can.

To add as suggested main game is escape from tarkov but also apex, warzone, divinity, ark. Also just enjoy watching movies and videos on my computer.

Here are some of the ones I'm looking at...

AOC

Dell

Asus

LG

Thank you.

I've seen these recommended a lot but for a 1080p 144hz gaming monitor you usually end up paying around 250ish (+/-$50) on average I believe. I wouldn't pay above 300 ever because, at that point, you're super close to 1440p territory.
