I have been selling these on Etsy for months.

Let's you put these on a Quest.

Well if you want to use wired headphones when the Switch is docked you just plug them in. It'll use the headphone jack instead of sending sound to the TV.

I'm a fan of the Koss KSC75. The sound quality is well above it's pricepoint. Has basically no noise isolation by design.

Amazon has them for $17, but at that price I'd get KSC-75 instead.

As u/oldeastvan/ said, if you have access to a 3d printer then buy $18 Koss KSC75s and print adapter.

Did somebody say budget?!?!?! Ksc75
You really won’t find better value than this. The only ones that I can think of that even compete are the mh755, but those have cable issues that it is sometimes necessary to solve.

These have been recommended by a lot of people for being close to the original Rift cv1 headphones.

If you want the best bang for the buck in terms of comfort and sound quality, I can't recommend the Koss KSC75 enough. These headphones have a legendary reputation among budget audiophiles and one listen will immediately make you a convert.

The one caveat is that these are open headphones so your sound will leak to those around you and outside sounds will leak in, which is what the default Quest 2 speakers offer. If you need to isolate the outside world, then these won't work, but sound quality will be better than any "clip-on" VR solution guaranteed.

No, that's the wrong conclusion to take — basically every device you can think of that has a 3.5mm jack will have a fairly low end DAC. Whether it's an iPhone, a Macbook, a Pixel, a Dell, a Surface... There's only so much room in a device, and audio isn't the most important feature. The only phone I can think of that breaks the mold is the LG V60, and their Quad DAC is a big selling point of the phone.

However, there's a reason you're not seeing LG Quad DACs in every device, and that's because the results depend a lot on your equipment and audio that you're listening to. If you're using wired EarPods and listening on Spotify, a better DAC/amp isn't going to make much of a difference. Your headphones are efficient enough that they won't need extra amplification and Spotify (or any other music streaming service) compresses your music.

For someone using a pair of power hungry $500 Sennheiser HD650, those will require an external DAC/amp on any device (with the aforementioned LG being a notable exception that comes to mind). Those have massive drivers, are power hungry, and resolve enough detail that they can actually make use of a better DAC. But to really get the most out of them, you'd need to listen to uncompressed music files that actually contain that detail.

The point is, good audio is an expensive and time consuming pursuit that is rarely plug and play. It takes years to train your ears and know your sound signature preferences, and it requires investment if you absolutely want the best. A 3.5mm jack is still a great feature to have, and I'm sure that the 3.5mm jack in the Pixel 4a will outperform some of the cheaper USB-C dongles out there. Pixel 4a still has plenty of great features, like the best camera, stereo speakers, a good screen, and great software. So don't worry about it

If you do want to improve your audio experience a bit, I'd recommend these (also available in Navy on Drop). Easily trade blows with some $150+ headphones that I've had, and they'll be powered just fine by a Pixel 4a.

Obligatory KSC75 comment. Even cheaper and, for some, more comfortable. Same elements, but the KSC75 has “less bass in your face,” more balanced sound, some say.

What are your thoughts ?
I really like my S over my CV1. One of the main negatives is the sound is a bit disappointing, but I remedied that with the $15 KOSS KSC75 clipon headphones (they sound similar to the CV1 headphones)

The foam pads of the headset are very absorbent and unhygienic, Not the best when you’re sharing the headset with people or playing long sessions. I personally recommend placing them with AMVR’s PU leather replacement which is more comfortable and easy to clean, alternatively VRCover’s cloth cover if you want something cheaper.

https://www.amazon.com/AMVR-Interface-Bracket-Leather-Replacement/dp/B07Z3DW7T5

I recommend compact headphones or earphones are also recommend as the in-built speaker aren’t the best. I hear these are decent and can be mounted with a custom mount: https://www.amazon.com.au/Koss-KSC75-Portable-Stereophone-Headphones/dp/B0006B486K

If you don't want to have the earbuds/iems and don't want to use headphones because of the band, you could try clip on headphones. They may be what you're looking for.

The koss ksc75 are a great example of a cheap but highly recommended option. Like this: https://www.amazon.com/Koss-Portable-Stereophone-Headphones-Replacement/dp/B0006B486K?ref_=d6k_applink_bb_marketplace&th=1&psc=1

A more expensive option: https://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-Lightweight-Headphones-Discontinued-Manufacturer/dp/B000CMTV3I?ref_=d6k_applink_bb_marketplace

You can't really wear normal ones like this.

That is what I thought to myself after I noticed they changed the look of the box with the new batch of KSC75's (used to have yellow/white colors over its box, now its box is dark red/white) but there is no way it is fake..since I ordered the very same product from Amazon (it showed before I ordered that I already bought one of these in the past and so it came from the very same manufacturer, which is Koss), I believe they simply changed their architecture or messed up with their tweaking so now it is not as good as it used to be).

Oh BTW..I even have the previous original Koss KSC75 (broken) and I checked both internally/externally in comparison, no difference at all except when you put both of them on and hear their sound which is for sure different and it does not even have anything to do with burn in..I used these new ones (with red/white box) for like 2-3 months already and they still sound quite harsh and unpleasant for the ears).

Edit : I bought it from this page twice : https://www.amazon.com/Koss-KSC75-Auriculares-port%C3%A1tiles-Individual/dp/B0006B486K/ref=sxts_sxwds-bia-wc-p13n1_0?cv_ct_cx=ksc75&dchild=1&keywords=ksc75&pd_rd_i=B0006B486K&pd_rd_r=23b37876-7c3c-4f9f-a01d-830fc570ce3a&pd_rd_w=nhQND&pd_rd_wg=nLevw&pf_rd_p=13bf9bc7-d68d-44c3-9d2e-647020f56802&pf_rd_r=EXS80KJJV8YPDE9CRVWP&psc=1&qid=1596017512&sr=1-1-791c2399-d602-4248-afbb-8a79de2d236f

1st time it was great, 2nd time their new ones sounded harsh and not fun for listening.

I'd stick with your CV1 for now, truly; Samsung has something new in the works that could be the best option yet. Elite Dangerous has a lot of black (since it's space), and any LCD headsets (WMR, Rift S, Index) are going to make that look AWFUL compared to your CV1 due to the "grey blacks".

Odyssey+ is a good option, though controllers are lacking compared to Rift CV1. No external sensors, however, and the Anti-SDE + OLED screen looks really good imo. The Non-Plus version of the Odyssey has no Anti-SDE, so it'll look similar inside to a Quest. Fit isn't as good as the O+ though. The included headphones aren't bad on either, but they're no CV1 headphone. A little bassy and not as detailed or fast as the CV1 headphones.

Vive Pro could be an option; Index controller compatibility, OLED screen (Like CV1, so blacks look black) and SteamVR Lighthouse is NOTHING like the Oculus Cameras; The only need to plug into power, no USB 3 extenders or anything, and they don't tax your CPU like the cameras do. Headphones are OK, though a 3D-printable clip exists to make them clamp a little more, which supposedly makes them sound WAY better.

You may be able to sell your entire CV1 kit for enough money that you could basically swap to a Vive without losing any cash; This is pretty much a sidegrade, but it's an OLED headset & gives you upgradeability. You also get the benefits of Lighthouse tracking, which I went over in the Vive Pro section. If it comes with a deluxe audio strap, you're all good for audio, but if not, you can get the CV1 Headphones for a good price, or a similar, more VR friendly pair of clip headphones.

My KSC75 on the Partsexpress Headband is one of my most comfortable headphones and the sound quality is outstanding.

Extremely lightweight with low clamping force. I've worn these for hours with no issue. If you eventually want to bring it up even another notch, the Yaxi Pads nake these somehow even more comfortable.

My personal favorites are:

KOSS KSC75

1MORE Triple Driver Earbuds

TIN T2 Pro IEMs

These are some really solid options for new audiophiles. The KOSS KSC75 are the best value IMO. You can find them with a microphone on the cable on Drop.com for ~$17 whenever they're in stock.

[Edit] the KSC75s are in stock on Drop.com for $20. I'd buy these hands down.

I'm still really enjoying my Rift S and have it modded the way I like (removed facial interface for higher FOV, room is lit with IR illuminators to play in pitch-black, Koss KSC75 headphones modded into the halo, AMVR Touch Grips, and now StudioForm's Pro Balance Enthusiast Kit). I can now play for hours completely cool and comfortable.

But even with all that I've been itching for an upgrade, G2 or Index. In both cases, the controllers are what bother me most. G2 controllers look like an upgrade from the default and Samsung WMR controllers but still take two batteries and are on the heavy side. Index controllers would be great if they lost that touchpad and gave us a more reliable standard-sized thumbstick.

Hopefully, the PCVR market stays healthy enough for and Index 2 and others.

Any headset with a 3.5mm audio connector will work, so if you already have one you like, you're good to go. Otherwise, a lot of people like the Koss Porta Pro or KSC75. Both are easily moddable to attach to the Rift S so you don't have to bother putting on the headset after you put on the HMD. I have the KSC75 myself, and the sound quality is phenomenal, it's amazing considering it's only $14.

If you print these yourself, print hot and slow with no supports and no part cooling fan. I broke my first print snapping in the drivers, but after i slowed the tricky bit down it was good.

If you'd like some in ear monitors get the BLON BL-03 they're quite affordable ($25-28 on AliExpress, $39-40 on Amazon) and comparable to IEMs that cost well over a few hundred and in some cases thousand dollar IEMs.

I'd also buy and Amp/DAC but I don't really have anything in mind right now, I personally use Schiit Fulla 3 ($99.0) as my main on my desktop powering the SHP9500 ($75) and the BLONs whenever I'm on it, and BTR3 ($60) for bluetooth listening, but isn't quite as powerful as the Fulla since it is a better amp obviously, while being wired. But you can also just get the BTR5 ($119) and use it wired and for bluetooth.

+Koss's KSC75's ($12-30ish) and Porta Pros ($25.32) are great and comfortable too!

BLON BL-03:

AliExpress

Options: No extra wire $25.69 / Extra wire $28.80

While not forgetting to pay attention to choosing w/ mic or w/o.

Amazon

W/ mic $40 w/o $39

Koss KSC75

Massdrop x Koss KSC75 // Drop.com

Koss Porta Pro

Schiit Fulla 3

FiiO BTR3

FiiO BTR5

Edit: Just made it fancier, added extra options.

Okay. Changing it up. Upping my budget to $500.

After doing some more research... I'm leaning more toward a studio setup, and just gaming on it.

My thoughts currently is going with the Magni + HE4XX + Modi 3, leaving me a little room to get a mic and a adc, which I could use some suggestions on. Something that supports XLR AND 1/4in jack (guitar)

That will put me at ~$360 for audio-out, and leave some room to get the adc and mic.

Additionally, for overdubbing, I'll just get a cheap set of CB Headphones like the Koss or the CALs.

Thoughts?

  • Edifier TWS2 (True Wireless) (50)
  • QCY T5 (True Wireless) (50)
  • Sony MH755 (Wired) (Have To Find On Ebay, beware of fakes)
  • Blon Blo3 (Wired) (40)
  • KZ ZS10 (Wired) (30)
  • KOSS KC75 (NOT Earbuds, but less than 15 and really, really good. Also open back.)
  • Kinera YH623 (True Wireless) (70, But amazing bass)
  • KZ ES3 (Wired) (20)
  • KZ E10 (True Wireless) (70, usually find for 60)
  • KZ S2D (True Wireless) (35, Kick starter)
  • TFZ T2 (Wired) (60)
  • KZ ZSX (Wired) (60)

Favorites list:

I believe the AS10 is the best KZ has to offer, The treble and highs are warm sided and a tad recessed, a bit of airiness. The mids are actually there unlike the ZSA, the mids find there place in the sound mix. the AS10 offer a satisfying sound for things like piano and guitar. Bass is interesting, they sound like hybrids. Nowhere near neutral, but not bass canons. They offer a good bass heavy IEM while still offering decent listening.

Not the best sounding buds in the world, They are as cheap as 20 dollars. Clear sounding instruments, ok bass and decent mids, I recommend them for the price.

Good sound stage , balanced signature. pleasantly dynamic lows which doesn't bleed, along with non shouty vocals. Because they're tuned to mids and highs they can make some music dull. Also small and comfortable. Just get a different cable. The stock one sucks.

Feel free to disagree with me. These are my opinions.
