This is what I'd recommend https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B077Z7DBRT/ref=ppx_yo_mob_b_inactive_ship_o0_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Yes, needed an amp. This was my first time buying passive speakers for a PC so did some research and wound up getting this model. Kinter 2020A. Good reviews, good price. Hooked it all up last night and it sounds great. Just 20watts per channel, but the speakers get plenty loud and still sound clean. Just went 3.5mm from PC output into the amp and then 12AWG speaker wire into the speakers (a bit overkill).

Thanks for the detail explanation, I was just worried that I will lose bass on my MB42X if I use lower amp like 20 amp Kinter-K2020A as right now when I boost the bass using the amp, on loud low freq sounds I get weird noise (the noise sound like birds wings flapping). I don't know if its due to the amp or its due to the limit of the speakers with the lower frequency.

No, the Magni 3+ can run powered speakers, but not passive (bookshelf) speakers like these. You could connect these to a home theater receiver, or for desktop use, the Lepy T-amp mentioned above will also do the trick.
Personally, I would say spend the extra money for this one instead:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077Z7DBRT
Aside from using a Tripath chip (which may or may not make any audible difference, to you), the Kinter comes bundled with a better power supply. The included power brick that comes with the Lepy and the original Lepai were not only under powered, but tended to be noisy. By the time you spent the difference finding a suitable third party power supply, you'd be at around the same price as the Kinter anyway.

Well for an entry level budget, you could go with an inexpensive amp like this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077Z7DBRT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I don't recommend that one specifically, but just to give you an idea of what to look for. 3.5mm In, stereo Out. You can get digital in amps too that take hdmi or optical out from your motherboard, but then you're pushing more like $100-150.
Then get something like Micca MB42X (under $100 for a pair of speakers). And these ones I do recommend, they sound excellent. I've had better speakers, but at a normal desktop listening distance, you sometimes get weird distortion with some speakers. These ones are within 3 feet of me and don't give me any problems.
Lastly, you'd need some speaker wire. Optionally, some banana plugs (they're not necessary, they just make plugging in the speakers easier). A basic wire cutter.
If you got a full receiver you could plug your computer into that and skip the amp; could also plug a tv into it and pick up 3 more speakers and a subwoofer for a 5.1 surround down the road.
It's more work and cost initially to set up, but more room to grow. It's not plug and play like typical pc gaming speaker setups, but you can use these speakers in a real sound system for your tv if you ever wanted to.

The only compatible combo you will be able to fit under $100 is a pair of Dayton B652-AIR speakers and a cheap amp like this one.
There are self-powered speakers under $100 as well but they will not connect properly with your sub.

Purely on a cost/quality basis I think you are better off with Car speakers and a good mini amp. I have this and the sound is awesome:

A 2 chance amp is an option. I have this in a spare room:
Kinter K2020A+ Limited Edition Original Tripath TA2020-020 Class-T Hi-Fi Audio Mini Amplifier with 12V 5A Power Supply Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077Z7DBRT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_rflHEbRNK442V
The issue is that they’re limited in features (no room correction, no remote, no digital input) for home theater. It is definitely not something you’ll want as a permanent solution

I meant to control the treble and bass on the amp. Like this for example https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077Z7DBRT/

Hi folks, dumb question: I'd like to plug my PC into my amp via an aux chord, as well as plug in my turntable by RCA cables to the amp. I'm curious if there's anything wrong with doing so, and if I could have audio coming from both inputs. i.e., could I be playing a record while playing a video game and get the audio from both?

If they arent listed on the speakers you will need to find the specifications somewhere online. Otherwise you can always gamble and buy a super cheap amp. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Kinter-K2020A-Original-TA2020-020-Amplifier/dp/B077Z7DBRT/ref=sr_1_18?dchild=1&keywords=stereo+amplifier&qid=1605190583&sr=8-18
Getting a second hand old amplifier or AVR would work fine too, they can be prety big tho.

I am using some mini amp similar to this one: https://www.amazon.com/-/de/Kinter-K2020A-Original-TA2020-020-Amplifier/dp/B077Z7DBRT/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?currency=USD&dchild=1&keywords=mini%20amplifier&language=en_US&qid=1596599725&sprefix=mini%20amp&sr=8-4
My shakers are cheap Aura ones from ebay, which are fine for me. I experimented with big buttkickers but they draw to much power and heated up my previous amp quite a bit.

something like this, https://www.amazon.com/Kinter-K2020A-Original-TA2020-020-Amplifier/dp/B077Z7DBRT?ref_=ws_cp_c4d78dbb37b516126672_p_3_t_p
though im sure there are better options, thats just a cheap one to give you an idea what your looking at.
also probably not the best subreddit for this.

So I found these speakers for a low price (asking 50) but can’t find much about them online. I have a plan for them as the “legs” of a computer desk (kinda how people use filing cabinets) so I’m not too worried about the fact they’ll be in a corner and a bedroom but I would like to still have them work. I’m not a big audiophile or anything so as long as the don’t sound like absolute crap I’ll be happy.
My main problem is finding a proper amp for them. I’ve only ever done car stereos but I was looking at this amp (don’t want to break the bank but don’t want crap):
https://www.amazon.com/Kinter-K2020A-Original-TA2020-020-Amplifier/dp/B077Z7DBRT/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?_encoding=UTF8&c=ts&dchild=1&keywords=Audio+Component+Amplifiers&qid=1609082438&s=aht&sr=1-3&ts_id=537344
Would this one work? I can’t seem to find many details of its specs but the reviews are great and some have said they power a lot with it. I’m very new to all of this so any help/tips are appreciated!

Yes, you will need an amplifier. Those are vintage speakes and designed for what would be considered to be low power- 35 watts max.
To get you going, something like this might work. Certainly not the last amplifier you will ever buy, but should get you going quite nicely in comparison to the Logitechs

So I was looking for some tower speakers on craigslist and I came across a set of almost new Polk T50s (2) and a T30 for $100. Problem I'm having now is figuring out what amp to put with them and how to configure it for a 3.0 system. Not finding much useful data on that...
What you want to use it for (music, movies, games, all of the above, etc): Just some music listening around the house for now. Don't need (or want) them to shake the windows, just want a decent stereo system that I can stream my music on (stream through Spotify mostly) while I'm working around the house doing chores and what not. I may move them to the basement some day for a home theater/gaming, but that's a ways down the road and I can re-evaluate when the time comes.
Budget and currency: I'd like to stick on the cheap end if I can, less than $100 if possible. Like I said, I don't intend to do anything major, just some casual listening while I bum around the house.
In which country are you located: US
Where can you buy from (ie which Amazon if any): Amazon, local stores (metro Detroit)
On a desk or in a room (or both): One end of our open concept dining room/kitchen.
How big of a space and how loud: Maybe 15x25ft? Not super loud, don't want to wake the dead here, just casual listening.
Any advice? I've been looking at the little amps that are all over amazon (example: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077Z7DBRT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1), but I don't know if I'd be wasting my money with that.
Also, how would I wire in the T30 to a system like that? Do I need to get a big fancy amp to do that, or would it be a waste to try and even do it?

Something like this? What pre amp would you suggest?
1 points • he11fire217
As others have said, you need some sort of amplifier because the phone is sending what’s called a “line level” signal.
Get something like this: Kinter K2020A+ Limited Edition Original Tripath TA2020-020 Class-T Hi-Fi Audio Mini Amplifier with 12V 5A Power Supply Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077Z7DBRT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabt1_F9TVFbBYXA2BE
That takes the line level signal from your phone, amplifies it, and sends it to the speaker(s).

Amazon has lots of mini amps about the same size, not the same look and almost certainly not the same quality.

Following your build/guide/info as I am just starting mine. I picked up the displays (playfield and backglass) yesterday and planning on ordering the RecRoomMasters 40" kit later this month.
Quick question on the speakers for the backglass. You linked to 4" speakers but it is my understanding that the RRM has 5 1/4" cutouts...just double-checking before I order the speakers.
And a question on the amplifier...how does it sound? I was planning on going with this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077Z7DBRT/ref=ox_sc_act_title_5?smid=A25JTAYG4VV6FQ&psc=1
I'm somewhat of an audio nut/snob so I am wanting this cab to sound great (it's actually going into my basement/Home Theater room) so I'm just a little concerned with a $10 amp. I think it would be fine for the cabinet sounds/etc...but I'm thinking I will need something better for the backglass speakers (and subwoofer, if I decide to add that).
Thanks!

Yes you can, but you will need a powered amplifier to do so.
There are bluetooth modules that you can find on a lot of sites (Digikey, Mouser, Amazon) that will allow you to receive audio over a bluetooth connection. Some are pretty much ready to go out of the box. Take a look at the back of your speakers and see what their power and impedance ratings are, and buy or build an amplifier circuit accordingly. Or you could get an amplifier that's a complete product. Use the bluetooth receiver as input, and send the output from the amplifier to your speakers. Once that's done, you'll probably want to either build or source a power supply. The options I linked come with their own power supplies, but it makes it limited in portability and will involve two oversized wall warts that will use more than one outlet slot.

I dont think you can buy a Lepai 2020A+ Tripath amplifier any longer. there's this one https://www.amazon.com/Kinter-K2020A-Original-TA2020-020-Amplifier/dp/B077Z7DBRT

I guess my logic(total rookie) made me think a phono preamp is more important than the amp. Let me know if I'm wrong

Turn up the master and gain knobs louder in Virtual DJ?
Even if you do get it working with BT you're probably not going to like it. Beatmatching over BT is almost impossible because of the lag and buffering issues.
My go-to recommendation for super affordable budget home monitors and speakers is get one of these mini amplifiers:
https://www.amazon.com/Kinter-K2020A-Original-TA2020-020-Amplifier/dp/B077Z7DBRT
https://www.amazon.com/Kinter-MA170-Channel-Digital-Amplifier/dp/B007TUSXEY/ref=psdc_537344_t3_B077Z7DBRT
Those amps will power just about any home/bookshelf style speaker.
And then start scrounging thrift stores, garage sales or online "buy nothing" or other groups for a pair of passive bookshelf or desktop speakers.
If you see anything branded KLH for as much as $10-20 each, get them.
Other good vintage brands to look for are Optimus (radio shack hi fi brand), vintage Sony with wood enclosures (not plastic or home theater satellite speakers), Harman Kardon (again, wood, not cheap plastic computer speakers), JBL (again, wood, older, not crappy cheap plastic computer speakers with the JBL label), Pioneer, Yamaha and many more vintage brands.
I have pretty good luck finding good vintage speakers at thrift stores in the 5-10 dollar range. I've also found self-powered subs like a 10" Audio Source sub that works fantastic with bookshelf/desktop speakers.
Check out /r/budgetaudiophile for more recs and info.

Hello! My audio setup is not remarkable at all and it's actually quite simple!
On Board motherboard audio --> This speaker Amplifier --> These speakers
The other black thing you see is a USB charging hub.

Hello all,
I am a very much beginner audiophile, I really just want something clean, simple and high quality for at home media. Everything is controlled by my desktop computer.
In the past I would buy speakers that plugged right into the audio port on the computer, simple and done. I decided to go one level up, and bought a simple amp
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077Z7DBRT/
Simple speakers
https://meh.com/forum/topics/polk-audio-bookshelf-speakers
And a basic wire to connect it all
https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-16-Gauge-Audio-Stereo-Speaker/dp/B006LW0WDQ/
I figured I would try it out and build atop if I like things.
I bought all this a year ago. I set it up and its been working great since then.
All of a sudden last week, I am getting a constant crackling and popping noise from the speakers. Its worse if the audio/bass/treble is high. But even on low volume its noticeable. I havent installed or added anything new recently.
I redid the speaker wire just in case, but its unchanged. I changed the audio output to the monitor speakers and it goes away. So its definitely the amp/cables/speakers.
My next step is to change the Y cable i think? If not that then what, just keep replacing things? There is only the amp and speakers after that.
I am considering giving up and going back the simpler setups. Though I have definitely preferred the audio quality of this new setup, and was looking forward to making more complicated setups.
What do you guys think it could be?

LINK for edifier.com Very good speakers for the price that look great imo for a ~$100 setup
You can pair these with a cheaper lower power amps like the tripath ta2020 based amplifiers

Sure. I don't know anything about that one. Here's a popular one
https://www.amazon.com/Kinter-K2020A-Original-TA2020-020-Amplifier/dp/B077Z7DBRT/
And you might check out this amp shootout
https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-mini-stereo-amplifier/
>Another thing is... this one runs on 12V DC. Maybe I can rig something up to connect to the cigarette lighter socket in the car?
If the person who has the speakers doesn't have an exterior outlet, I'd ask them to run an extension cord from inside. Seems like you would be doing enough by bringing the amp and speaker cable.

Oh no no no.
That is a bluetooth receiver, it receives bluetooth, converts it to analog that can then be sent to a speaker amplifier.
Send it back, also send back the speakers and get the MB42X model, it is much better.
As for amplifier, something like this will work.
https://www.amazon.com/Kinter-K2020A-Original-TA2020-020-Amplifier/dp/B077Z7DBRT/
You will also need speaker wire and a cable to connect your projector to the speakers. What cable that is depends on what audio outputs the projector got.

First we need to determine if the speaker has Amp inside of it. Does it have any knobs or dials on the speakers. If so, it is an Active Speaker (has amps).
If it does not, it is probably a passive speaker which requires an amp. You can by a variety of T-Amps on Amazon for cheap enough.
Here are some examples -
https://www.amazon.com/Lepy-LP-2020A-Digital-Amplifier-Stereo/dp/B00C2P61FO/
https://www.amazon.com/Kinter-K2020A-Original-TA2020-020-Amplifier/dp/B077Z7DBRT/
https://www.amazon.com/SMSL-SA-36A-Digital-Amplifier-Adapter/dp/B01N6ZZK49/
These are all pretty low powered, but will work fine for close computer listening.
On this last one, the Power is grossly exaggerated, but it also has the latest Bluetooth -
https://www.amazon.com/Nobsound-Bluetooth-Amplifier-Audio-Receiver/dp/B07QRRQDDW/
This next one is probably one of the best ones on the market, but nearly 3 times what you want to spend. It has a decent 40w/ch, Bluetooth, as well as a DAC and Digital Inputs.
https://www.amazon.com/S-M-S-L-AD18-Amplifier-Bluetooth-Subwoofer/dp/B071JN7GXN/
