Hi, if you happen to have WiFi issues with the Flex 5 14", the simple solution is swapping the WiFi card with an Intel AX200 WiFi 6 card. I've reviewed multiple laptops with that WiFi card and it works well.
In this price range, you can't expect much more than a 250 nit IPS display like on the Flex 5 14". It is typically fine for a typical user. Light games should be fine, same with photo and video editing, but the poor color gamut coverage is a downside.

Yes, this is the one. I got the official intel one from here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVYKRW9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fab_LZLGFb0SZVXVM for my other laptop but I have used 3rd party ones without issue.

I updated the driver to latest one from Killer's website and there's no issue since although I never have such problems like yours. Contact Dell support /u/Dellcares here and they will help.
You can also get a new Intel Wifi 6 modem on Amazon for about $18 and replace it yourself to fix it.

It's working fine for me. I replaced the stock wifi card in my XPS13 with this and it's been working great with a U6 lite (EA version) for a few months now. I get a link speed of 1.2gbps when in the same room as the AP, and I get an actual speed of around 600 mbps when doing a speed test.
My guess is there's something weird with windows/driver. Can you try a fresh install of windows booting off a USB drive?
1 points • -HiThere-
Yeah it's not even close to the same price for me, looking at that particular model there's like a $300 difference for the same specs.
Would this chip suffice? Also did you have any trouble replacing it in the A15 unit? I took a peek under there and was having trouble locating the existing chip...

Yeah, looks like BT is integrated on that card. Is WiFi working? Hard to diagnose over text, but i would just look at this as opportunity to upgrade the card.
Depending on the connection style you could grab something like Intel 9260/9560 or AX200 for under $20.

Yeah the WiFI is an AC3168 according to the spec. If I switch I would go with this then: https://www.amazon.com/Intel-Network-AX200-NGWG-NV-AX2002230-Retail/dp/B07ZVYKRW9/

I personally use a wired connection whenever possible so it doesn't affect me. But it's noticeable enough that people write negative reviews about it :)
You can replace the wifi card yourself for about $20 (https://www.amazon.com/Intel-Network-AX200-NGWG-NV-AX2002230-Retail/dp/B07ZVYKRW9/) if needed.

Incase it fails on me because for the past few months it's been on and off where in device manager the nic said that it failed to function. i have upgraded to the latest driver from HP and also Intel site dated 9/2020. I also formatted and reinstalled it. I think the card is about to die on me one of these days, so i might as well replace it now with a similar card. The one I've been looking at is on amazon.
HP site said this exact card works for my laptop, but the weird thing is the motherboard doesn't appear to support m.2 wan card. It's possible the motherboard is a newer model than all the aw000dx23 laptop where the card might be hidden deep somewhere on the motherboard. It was a bit of a pain opening this laptop open with screws and popping open the bottom cover, because of how it's built.

FYI - the model I linked to fits the T480s. I am using it right now :-).
Yes adding a m.2 drive in that slot. there are limited options. I can dig up a link to send you what I got. It is WD and essentially half height.
Further upgrade - I swapped in the Intel AX200 Wi-Fi 6 card. Link below to the one I got on Amazon - cheap at $20. I work in networking and wanted the features set and improved performance. I think the BT is improved as well but don't quote me on that.
Hope this helps - I will try to dig up the drive info later. Also there is nice guide on how to set it up with dual boot.
Cheers!

First of all, you should check whether your mobo has a Key E M.2 connection (different from the regular B or M key. If it does, you can get something like this kit (Amazon.com: Intel Wi-Fi 6 (Gig+) Desktop Kit (AX200.NGWG.NV): Computers & Accessories). It has three parts: the actual WiFi module (plugs into the E key on your mobo), the cables + bracket (slots into the brackets in the back of your case, like the GPU), and the antennas which screw into the golden plugs in the second part.
Another option (especially if you don't have this kind of slot) is buy a PCIe WiFi module (like this one: Amazon.com: TP-Link WiFi 6 AX3000 PCIe WiFi Card (Archer TX3000E), Up to 2400Mbps, Bluetooth 5.0, 802.11AX Dual Band Wireless Adapter with MU-MIMO,OFDMA,Ultra-Low Latency, Supports Windows 10 (64bit) only: Computers & Accessories ). This is essentially the same thing as before, only the WiFi module sits on an adapter and the connection to the mobo is done with a PCIe x1 connection (looks like the GPU connections, but much smaller) and the cables are all stuffed/printed inside.

I found another card thats a AX200 that someone used on there M141 in a upgrade tutorial. Here's The Link. You'll need longer pigtails then the 20cm many antenna's ship with, and they need to be NGFF apparently:
https://www.amazon.com/2-4GHz-RP-SMA-Antenna-Pigtail-Cable/dp/B07P8CKGZM/ref=rtpb_33?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B07P8CKGZM&pd_rd_r=6d9644e4-ad48-4943-88a7-62fee6b24c4f&pd_rd_w=NKAA9&pd_rd_wg=i1kYR&pf_rd_p=e3464036-7ac0-415f-8736-4a31ff917eb7&pf_rd_r=SKJZ7VG1MNYXPVXBQRH5&psc=1&refRID=SKJZ7VG1MNYXPVXBQRH5
that should work, but no guarantees as I have never tried it myself.

That's just a standard M.2 WiFi card.
Most PCIe WiFi cards are basically that exact same hardware, just on an adapter board.
This is the card you asked about https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07G42J6KQ/
This would be an upgrade that supports WiFi 6 if you want it: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVYKRW9/

Where do you buy wireless cards made by the manufacturer? I'm looking to upgrade to Wifi 6 and when looking for the following card https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/wireless/wi-fi-6-series/wi-fi-6-ax200.html I see a bunch of 3rd party sellers. Some of the cards look different than the others. Are these genuine Intel cards?

> bought a USB internet wireless adapter
WiFi carsion: 1. A - 2. B 3. G - old adapters 4. N - most USB adapters, this goes through walls well, but isn't the fastest 5. AC - quite fast, but doesn't go through walls well 6. AX - lightning fast, improved coverage.
When it comes to WiFI 6 / 802.11 AX, the Intel AX200 is the only adapter on the market that supports this. This can be installed inside most laptops and desktops, but is not available in USB form. M.2 Key E forms can be installed in modern laptops. PCIe forms are good for desktops, especially ones with antennas that are on a cable so you can place them somewhere with good reception.
For good WiFi, the best solution is also to look into a WiFI mesh system. My top recommendation currently is the TP-Link Deco X60.

Why not buy a wifi adapter like this: https://www.amazon.com/Intel-Network-AX200-NGWG-NV-AX2002230-Retail/dp/B07ZVYKRW9/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1
and use this: https://www.amazon.com/Antenna-RP-SMA-2-4Ghz-Extension-Notebook/dp/B07QKF18KM/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1
and you get wifi on this board.

Hey this might be a little late but I just did the same build recently and I got this WiFi Card and these antennas. It has been working super well so far; I’ve been pretty satisfied with the speeds I’m getting. Also, the 25 cm antenna cables ended up being the perfect length to route through the vrm heat sink to the M.2 slot. Hope this helps!

This was the one I put in mine when I had it.
Since you'll have it open I recommend also upgrading the ram and wifi card.

I noticed a lot of issues with the wifi card that was originally in it, and for $20 it's worth the upgrade.

You can have 16GB 2400 Mhz RAM and you can also get an Intel AC9260 Wifi Card if you don’t need WiFi 6(Wifi AX) capabilities or if you do the Intel AX200

Which one on the list that I posted should I buy? They have so many, don't know if all are legit. Some of the "Intel" AX200 chips listed have different numbers on them. WFM number, BDM number, numbers under the barcode. I don't know what all that stuff means or if it matters. Posted examples below as well.

i must've read your post wrong. are you on a laptop or a desktop? as far as i have understood linux drivers, intel has the best compatibility when it comes to wifi drivers on linux. on my laptop i use an intel ax200. On my desktop, I use an asus ax3000. tp-link has one for $50 but it uses a god awful red heatsink.

I am really enjoying the computer so far. I have had it for a week.
I originally bought a M 141 on ebay, but it had a Bios issue. So I ended up with a M 142.

When looking at wifi/bluetooth adapters the main options are:
intel - if you want the new shiny thing and bluetooth is important, this may be the least bad option
qualcomm/atheros - tends to sell to oems like laptop makers, no bt5 yet, somewhat older tech but tends to be stable. best option for access points
broadcom - depending on the device the driver situation can be bad, avoid
When picking an adapter there is usually a tradeoff between newness and how tested the driver is. so if you go for a new adapter maybe look for user reviews that confirm it works with the particular device (ie: bt game controller) you are planning to use.
For "wifi6" aka "the one with 802.11ax and bluetooth 5", the most common adapter is the intel ax200.
These are usually either built into a motherboard on a laptop/desktop, or come as a small card that goes into a laptop, you can install one in a desktop with a pcie adapter card.
Also, virtually any bluetooth adapter you will find is going to be usb, if you get a pcie card it will likely have a usb cable you plug into a usb header on your motherboard, even boards that have embedded bluetooth will show the adapter as usb. I assume there is some historical reason for this.
Most wifi6 cards available now just take that intel laptop adapter, throw it in on a pcie card, then put their own branding on it. Some examples:
edup
ubit
asus1 asus2
tplink1 tplink2
example if you wanted to buy the card and adapter separately:
wifi adapter
pcie card to hold it
If I had to buy one of those right now I would probably lean toward the red tplink model just because the external antenna will yield better reception, and the philips screws on the heatsink indicate it might be easy to replace the wifi adapter when in the future when wifi7 shows up.
That said, I haven't used any of those devices personally. They all use the same radio so they should functional similarly.
