Do you have one jack or two?

You might need a break out cable.

Edit: like this:

This doesn't work with pc. It works with smartphone and consoles. You need splitter. https://www.amazon.com/Headphones-Convertors-Headphone-Microphone-Simultaneously/dp/B01M8G1U0C

You really want to use that headset?

You will need a headphone amp like a Mackie HM-4 or Behringer HA400, a 1/4" TRS cable to connect to the mixer and four 3.5mm to 1/4" adapters.

You will also need four TRRS to dual 3.5mm TRS mic/headphone Y splitter like this

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M8G1U0C/

and a 3.5mm to XLR adapter like the Røde VXLR or maybe VXLR+ if the headset needs jack power.

You could just use regular headphones and real mics and XLR cables for better sound.

And note that mixer is a stereo mixer.

You need to buy a splitter for a mic and headset or something like this https://www.amazon.com/Headphones-Convertors-Headphone-Microphone-Simultaneously/dp/B01M8G1U0C/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=Headphone+Mic+Splitter&qid=1592604868&sr=8-5 you may not want to buy that one that was my first result

You likely need a different adapter, it sounds like you have a head phone splitter not a mic / headphone adapter.

Try something like this:

You will need a splitter unless you decide not to use a set of phone-headphones with the mic and speakers built into the same male 3.5mm jack.

you are gonna need a splitter then. something like this. They also sell USB adapters if you'd rather go that route. Those are for headsets that have two 3.5mm inputs coming off of them.

that's not entirely true. There's lots of great IEMs ("earbuds" that make a seal around your ear) out there.

If OP is looking for decent headphones that can also be used for gaming that won't break the budget, I'm partial to the Koss KPH30i.

Might need a 3.5mm "iPhone inline mic" to dual 3.5mm output/input cable like this for use with a gaming PC, though -- https://www.amazon.com/Headphones-Convertors-Headphone-Microphone-Simultaneously/dp/B01M8G1U0C/

Unfortunately you can't change settings and make it work like that. you would need to get a 3.5mm splitter for it to work

So you have a headset with 1 cable where the male plug has 4 sections, and you want to plug it into separate headphone and microphone ports?

Like this? https://www.amazon.com/Headphones-Convertors-Headphone-Microphone-Simultaneously/dp/B01M8G1U0C/

Try searching "trrs headset splitter"

I assume your headset ends in a single 3.5mm jack?

You have a 4-pole jack, but most desktop computers use 3-pole ports. So you need a splitter to split the microphone and speaker components out into their own plugs.

Something like this would work https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M8G1U0C/ but there are literally dozens of options, super cheap to make so everyone makes them.

You may want to split the headphone and mic signals with a simple adapter Y-cable. That opens up many more options for headphone outputs and mic processing. You could then leave your mic plugged in while using other speakers if you really wanted.

Something like this perhaps. https://www.amazon.com/Headphones-Convertors-Headphone-Microphone-Simultaneously/dp/B01M8G1U0C/

Your software shows a green and a pink/purple port for the front. The headphones go into the green and the microphone into the pink/purple. If they aren't both on the front, see if you have both on the back. If you have a TRRS headphone and the computer does not have a TRRS audio port, you will need a splitter like this https://www.amazon.com/Headphones-Convertors-Headphone-Microphone-Simultaneously/dp/B01M8G1U0C/ .

My guess is that it has a TRRS jack that you need to split into mic and headphone signals, so you'd need an adapter like this:

You'll need an adapter like this one, there are lots of different sellers that sell similar ones. Green is for the headphones and pink is for the microphone, blue is used for a line in. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M8G1U0C

You can plug TRRS headphones into a TRS audio jack with no consequences, your other mics and such should still work fine.

If your PC's audio jack is really picky and only gives you one ear's audio or something, you could use an adapter like this one and just not plug in the pink mic jack.

Many PC's don't have the TRRS inputs which is the one that can use mic and headset with a single cord

This sounds like an error with what's between the device and the chair. I use my wired Samsung AKG Warbuds and WH-1000XM3 in bluetooth mode with my laptop regularly without issue.

You can easily plug in earbuds into your PC as long as there's a mic, either on the buds themselves or on the PC.

There are two types of Jacks.

The most common is the 4-Pole jack which is pretty much the standard now -- this is used on many PCs as well and pretty much universally on phones which still have a headphone jack. If you have this type of jack, you can plug into it directly with any headset or earbuds. Usually if there's an onboard mic, the computer will default to that when it's plugged in.

The second, while becoming less common, is the two jack system. This is usually signified by a pink and green colored jack -- one for headphones and one for microphone. If this is what your computer has, you can either get any earbuds you like along with any mic you'd like, or a headset/earbuds that have both. You can also get a 4-pole to 2 jack splitter for pretty cheap on Amazon if you have a 4 pole headset but need to use this jack.

Looks like the lav mic has a TRRS connector meant for smartphones (same as headphones with a mic built in). You probably need a breakout cable to connect that to the line-in port on the PC, like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M8G1U0C

Some laptops have merged mic and headphone jacks. My Surfacebook does. You need a splitter to break it out into separate jacks.

Something like this

The apple headphones use different type of 3.5mm plug with the headphone and mic connections in one plug. It probably doesn't line up quite right in the front port. Those are usually lower quality than the ones built into the motherboard, so can have some issues.

https://www.amazon.com/Headphones-Convertors-Headphone-Microphone-Simultaneously/dp/B01M8G1U0C

That adapter should allow you to use the mic and audio port, but mic quality isn't guaranteed to be as good as a dedicated pc mic.

The other guy probably had the answer, but if that's not working my best guess would be to get a splitter that pulls the mic to a separate out. https://www.amazon.com/Headphones-Convertors-Headphone-Microphone-Simultaneously/dp/B01M8G1U0C/ref=mp_s_a_1_9?dchild=1&keywords=4+pole+audio+splitter&qid=1588824242&sr=8-9#aw-udpv3-customer-reviews_feature_div

I should have added - you'll probably need an adapter, as PS/Xbox controllers combine the signals for sound and input, but a PC splits this into two ports. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Headphones-Convertors-Headphone-Microphone-Simultaneously/dp/B01M8G1U0C/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=2XDK1T2R84BZK&keywords=pc+mic+adapter&qid=1584453821&sprefix=pc+mic+ada%2Caps%2C170&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExRExWVUNaSlpWU1lZJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMjE4ODgwM0VXSkVLUzBYV0NCJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTAyMjg0MjYzUTlQWlBLRlJHNFlNJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfYXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==

Your headphones likely have a 3.5mm TRRS jack on the end; the 4 conductors are 1 for ground, 1 for microphone, and 2 for stereo output left and right.

Your input jacks have 3 conduction points for audio output (ground, left, right) and 2 for mic (ground and input.)

There's no hardware inside your computer to work with a unified connector, so you need to buy a splitter to do the job for you. Luckily they're rather cheap since it's all passive components of a standard specification.

Needs to be adapted to two 3.5 TRS connectors as its a single 3.5mm TRRS connector. Most system require separate Line-out(Headphones) and Mic-in. Lime green (Line-out) and Pink (mic-in) by default.

You might need a splitter cable, one that goes into the mic jack and one that goes into the headphone jack and then into your headset. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Headphones-Convertors-Headphone-Microphone-Simultaneously/dp/B01M8G1U0C

Plug it in with the splitter with the slot you know works standalone

"mmsys.cpl" in start. Right click if it appears. If it is note enabled, right click, enable + set as default communication device + set as default device all in that menu. Tap on the mic, it should have little green bars that move showing it's detecting. Open windows settings and in system > sound, scroll down and choose that as input device

Motherboards are different, and the mic might entirely appear as whatever the generic motherboard audio controller's name is

If none of that works, then double check the splitter's jack for damage on the mic side https://www.amazon.com/Headphones-Convertors-Headphone-Microphone-Simultaneously/dp/B01M8G1U0C

It is all standard interface, so pick up a replacement splitter if in doubt, the hs60 is mentioned in the faq so it should work just fine

So just to clarify, your headphones+mic have a single 3.5mm jack and your PC has two inputs for mic and audio?

In that case something like this might be the easiest option: https://www.amazon.com/Headphones-Convertors-Headphone-Microphone-Simultaneously/dp/B01M8G1U0C/

(Provided link is just an example, if you look for 3.5mm jack splitter you'll find plenty of options)

You need a 3.5mm splitter like this.

You can also use the case audio jacks (I assume it has) instead of the motherboard ports.

Are you saying you have headphones with a built in mic?

If so, there are three ways those might work:

1) You have a headset with two connectors, one for sound out of your PC, and one for the mic to send sound in. In this case you just connect the 3.5mm to the output jack on your PC (or a headphone jack if you have one) and the mic 3.5mm connector to the mic jack on your pc.

2) You have headphones with a built in mic, but only one 3.5mm connector. These types of headphones are designed for phones/certain laptops. If your phone or laptop supports a single connector, then it will work like above, except you only have to plug in one cord. If your device has two separate ports for sound out and microphone, then you will need an adapter (like this): https://www.amazon.com/Headphones-Convertors-Headphone-Microphone-Simultaneously/dp/B01M8G1U0C/ref=sr_1_17?dchild=1&keywords=trrs+to+trs&qid=1603733364&sr=8-17

3) If you have a USB headset, then you just plug it in and set it to the default device on your PC for both input and output. Hopefully shadow detects it. If not you might need to install drivers for it on your shadow.

and this so that you can have both the mic and audio working on the front panel of the case.

I was given an AmazonBasics Pro Gaming Headset as a gift.

Unfortunately, I tried it on my laptop and the sound is muffled. For example, when listening to a song, the music is quiet and the vocals are garbled. After some googling, I think this is because the headphones use one TRRS connector when my laptop has two TRS jacks.

I tried this adapter but it has the same issue when the headphones are fully plugged into the adapter. The sound works fine when I plug the headphones into the adapter except for the last segment, but I can't figure out how to use the microphone.

I would appreciate advice on identifying the issue and how to fix it.

Either get a simple 3.5mm splitter MMF (it'll work if both PCs have proper grounding, if your grounding sucks you'll hear noise when you try that) or get a KVM switch like this and only connect the audio (then you have to press a button to switch between both audio sources).

Not sure I understand you 100%, but you might also need a headphones/mic splitter that you plug in before the MMF cable(because the MMF cable doesn't carry microphone), like this one. It depends on your headphones (if they carry both mic and audio on a single plug or not).

I actually have the same speakers and they show up as Speakers (Realtek(R)Audio). My headphones show up as Realtek Digital Output (Realtek(R)Audio) because of the DAC.

I don't know man. That should work fine. That headset looks like it has a mic. In which case is should have a 4 pole plug that looks like this.

https://images.app.goo.gl/RgQYg9WuqrCUYf4t8

If that's the case it should have come with a splitter to separate the headphones from the mic that looks like this

https://www.amazon.com/Headphones-Convertors-Headphone-Microphone-Simultaneously/dp/B01M8G1U0C

The jacks on your PC are not set up to run a 4 pole connection so if you have that on your headphone jack you probably just need the splitter. I used to have Hyper X awhile ago and they came with the splitter but, that was years ago
