Been wanting a 60% hot swappable keyboard for a while, any recommendations under or around $100? I was looking at this but after some research found that the GK61 has horrible software and isn't that good for a long-term board.
I am open to suggestions!

Hi, I'm pretty new to mechanical keyboards and bought this as my first keyboard with brown switches. I've been looking for a new keyboard with different switches to try since I feel like a make a lot of mistakes while typing. I think the keys feel too light and sensitive at times which makes me accidentally press keys. Any recommendations for keyboards and switches would be appreciated.

I am getting the GK61 Hot Swabappable keyboard with gateron brown switches: https://www.amazon.com/HK-Gaming-Mechanical-Illuminated-Programmable/dp/B07PT9NRRY/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=60%2Bkeyboard&qid=1588973650&s=electronics&sr=1-4&th=1
I am new to this whole keyboard thingy and I was told it was a good budget board. Thoughts?

For under $60, the gk61 is probably your best option at the moment.
You can get one (here.)[https://www.amazon.com/HK-Gaming-Mechanical-Illuminated-Programmable/dp/B07PT9NRRY]
Note it's listed as "hot swappable," but this is only with other gateron optical switches, and it's not compatible with other cherry mx-like options out there.

i think it's good, pbt keycaps from the factory, rgb lighting for your rgb needs, brown switches, They won't say wich brand of switches they are, probably from themselves, but they fell very much like cherry brown.
For the same price you can get the rk71, it's practically the same but has better rgb and more actual bluetooth protocol up to 5 devices, but that's a 70% keyboard if you are interested.
In my personal opinion, i will pick this, is not wireless, and comes with abs keycaps, but it's a good keyboard for the buck https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PT9NRRY/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_6CioEbCYABYES

For those of you want something that I consider better, try out the GK61. If you don't mind the form factor, this is an amazing keyboard for the price, and the stabilizers are crazy good (somewhat comparable to the clipped and lubed GMK screw-in stabilizers on my own custom keyboard. If you don't understand that, just know that they're good.)
If you don't mind dropping a bit more cash and a little bit of DIY, you can get the GK61 with just a pcb and throw in whatever switches you want. You can't do this with the prebuilt GK61, unless the switches are optical. Amazing value IMO.

I would recommend the GK61/GK64. I own a GK61 and use it for gaming and enjoy it very much. Going to probably build a 75% soon to replace it since I'm starting to miss the dedicated arrow keys and Function Row. Here is a link to the one I own. I didnt buy it from here though and got mine directly from AliExpress. This is a hotswap board, so you can change out the switches they come with, and you dont have to solder.

Like the other person said, not that many optical switches out there. The GK61 is available in an optical version, but the software to control the lighting/remap keys is notoriously awful (if you care about that). I can't think of any larger boards with tactile optical switches.

Someone recommended me the Gk61
I haven't done any research on it, and its smaller than a tkl, nor is it on sale, but it looks like its not a bad deal.

I want to know if I can try zealios and clementines with it

I bought this as my first mechanical keyboard 3 years ago, and it came with blues. It was nice for what it was, and reminded me very much of the old IBM keyboards.
I decided I was ready to move on, and just bought the GK61 ($59) (brown switches) as my first 60% board, and an waiting for it to come in.

silent reds have a rubber dampener at the end of the stem, which makes them quieter but some people also report that they feel "mushy". that being said we're all awful snobs and if you need a keeb that wont wake up the missus at night, they would work perfectly well.
if you're more ambitious you can get a "hot swap" board like this one:
https://www.amazon.com/HK-Gaming-Mechanical-Illuminated-Programmable/dp/B07PT9NRRY/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=hot+swap+keyboard&qid=1579406408&sr=8-4
and then invest in a fancier set of silent switches of your choosing. you could look at mx silent black, zilents, or aliaz
1 points • xNyxNox
I looked at that but it uses optical switches. I know there is a version of the board that doesn't because there are two different versions of the PCB iirc (the 61 and 61x, maybe?) but this is the only one I could find on Amazon that was the completed board.

for $65 + shipping https://www.amazon.com/HK-Gaming-Mechanical-Illuminated-Programmable/dp/B07PT9NRRY you can probably find a kb i little cheaper but 20-40 is pret hard

looking for budget 60% or TKL (hell, as long as its not full sized I'm OK) keyboard anywhere under $100. I don't care if its cherry switches or anything like that. This will be my first mechanical keyboard. I want it to be high quality but also budget. Some I have looked at so far are the Asceny one (currently out of stock, is really the only reason I haven't gotten it yet) and the GK61 (which is from china, and you know how that is right now). I'm definitely open to new ideas or reason why I should/shouldn't purchase the ones I've mentioned.

I guess OP got the barebones kit, but it is available as purchase as a full keyboard. See this amazon link for example: https://www.amazon.com/HK-Gaming-Mechanical-Illuminated-Programmable/dp/B07PT9NRRY/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=gk61&qid=1591884085&sr=8-2
(Note that that particular version of the GK61 uses optical switches)

Durgod Venus with silent switches is slightly over your budget but high quality, on Amazon (restocks every 2 weeks), and quiet:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07XBTF8J9/ref=twister_B07X8Q1MJJ?_encoding=UTF8&th=1
Lower quality one that should be decent too (add o-rings under the keycaps to make quieter if needed):

Spend $60 for hot swap switches

or this for wireless

The best possible 60% keyboard in my personal option would have to be the GK61 Keyboard, it comes with RGB lighting and mechanical switches. It cost 60$

Budget, time, commitment, etc. are the biggest questions. It doesn't help that there is a lack of stock right now. The wiki is really the best place to start with questions like this: https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/wiki/index#wiki_.22what_keyboard.2Fswitch_do_i_buy.3F.22
If you want to build out from your first mech, this is probably a good, cheap starting point:
https://www.amazon.com/HK-Gaming-Mechanical-Illuminated-Programmable/dp/B07PT9NRRY
If you just want a quality first mechanical keyboard, I would look at picking up a Leopold if you don't care about RGB.

This is the Keyboard.
With this one, I would like the optical yellows, not the regular ones from novelkeys. Do you know where I could buy the optical switches from?
Thanks!
