HK Gaming keycaps off amazon is a good budget cherry profile set. You also might be able to find some cheap sets on aliexpress or kbdfans.

HK gaming on Amazon has a few options: HK Gaming Dye Sublimation Keycaps - Cherry Profile - Thick PBT Keysets for Mechanical Keyboard (139 Keys, Chalk) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08156NG7K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_xNl3FbYJ1DSH5

KPrepublic also has a lot of options too, and they are on Amazon and aliexpress.

I recently bought a pbt cherry profile set from kprepublic and I’m very happy with them. Kbdfans is great, but their cheapest shipping is $20 for me in the USA, and Amazon/aliexpress had free shipping.

There isn't a key for the lights for example, or a 1u CMD, but I just put win on the CMD and * on the light key.

I have heard that it isn't very beneficial to lube clicky switches, is this true?

I am a beginner to the world of mechanical keyboards and I am planning on making a simple and affordable custom and would also love some feedback on what other good options there are. I am planning on using a NK65 with Kailh Box White switches and https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08156NG7K/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A3E77W1MOSAP85&psc=1 for my keycaps. Thanks again in advance for any help <3

I have to agree with u/Scrunchface0, some of the keycaps sets from HKGaming do look pretty nice.

Their chalk keycaps are made of PBT if that is an issue but otherwise has a clean contradicting colour scheme. The only problem with these keycaps are that they are out of stock on Amazon. However you can find similar keycaps on KBDFans and others.

You'd mentioned about PBT keycaps. From what I hear, PBT keycaps are not always the best option; but at this price point they are likely the most common. PBT is more durable but due to this durability, they are harder to mold. That is why ABS keycaps occupy both budget and premium keycap markets.

Lastly from what I've seen, HKGaming doesn't seem to make their own keycaps, instead I think they put their brand on mass produced products. Therefore if HKGaming sells them, it is likely you can buy similar keycaps from elsewhere. You should also check out the wiki for different sellers.

This is cheap little build that I bought to mess around with while I wait for parts for a proper build. My 6 y/o son likes doing "keyboard projects" with me and requested a sticker bomb, so we did it.

This is a Keywalker. It was, as far as I can tell, a small run of a cheap pre-builts a few years ago. There isn't much info out there. I purchased it on mechmarket for $30. It came with gat blues, has RGB and bluetooth. It's a pretty decent little board, especially for the price. The caps are a cheapo set from Amazon. The legends are a bit large and blurry, but they are decent otherwise.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08156NG7K/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It's tough to find not-too-expensive sets that support 65%! If you know of any, let me know!

I just got my banana split switches and they're pretty smooth, lightly factory lubed but nice and light. I'm still waiting on my case and board from KBDFans to actually install them though.
For keycaps, I agree with huskyasfk, KBDFans has some good ones and Amazon has some decent ones as well. Like these: https://www.amazon.com/HK-Gaming-Dye-Sublimation-Keycaps/dp/B08156NG7K

For an HHKB layout, you need two 1.5u keycaps and a 7u spacebar which most cheap keycap sets will not include.
For Cheap you can get this that will have all necessary keycaps to perfectly fit on your board: https://www.amazon.com/HK-Gaming-Dye-Sublimation-Keycaps/dp/B08156NG7K/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=chalk+keycaps&qid=1585092244&sr=8-2
Most if not all GMK sets will include all necessary keycaps but those are quite expensive

I use my K6 with Keychron's wood wrist rest, so it is extremely comfortable for me. I've always like using a wrist rest with my keyboards though. The only thing that made me consider the K2 was the option for PBT keycaps. It's hard to find a good set for the K6 that has the FN1 and FN2 buttons. The only ones I've found are these: https://www.amazon.com/HK-Gaming-Dye-Sublimation-Keycaps/dp/B08156NG7K/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=hk+gaming+keycaps&qid=1598376785&sr=8-2

If you are okay with AliExpress, I've bought from this store a couple of times and they have always shipped quick even if the shipping itself is rather slow. YMDK has less of a selection but has faster shipping (often same day/next day send out) and faster shipping options. KPrepublic also has a few sets. Their shipping is on the slower side sometimes and can be a luck of the draw.

For non-AliExpress, check KBDfans. Some sets there are sub $50. For Amazon, HK Gaming has a few sets but they don't have a small 0 if you use 96 layout. And finally, if MechanicalKeyboards has some in their PBT section but you will have to look as they are few and far between.

I know what you mean though, just went through this process, ended up Frankensteining two of those ePBT sets to get what I wanted. Used to use a couple of these Amazon sets before that and had to settle with an abs right shift for a bit. Abs is easier to work with and easier to look pretty, and pretty is always gonna sell, demand and supply

Switches: https://novelkeys.xyz/collections/switches/products/gateron-switches

Stems: https://www.1upkeyboards.com/shop/parts-and-tools/parts/invyr-uhmwpe-linear-stems/ (they released v2's of the stems on drop so keep an eye out for those.

PS. For the keyboard itself make sure you are on NovelKeys, mailing list so you can get updates about when the next release of the keyboard is because these sell out fast. For the switch choice, they're super smooth and I'd recommend the yellows, but the PE stems are a little overpriced and not necessary imo. I put a link to the sound test so you can decide on switches.

>I’m using it for a Mac so I’ve been looking for something that has the Mac keycaps but can’t find anything.

Think about it. Most people use Windows, so which OS do you think companies are going to target? Keyboards with Mac keycaps are a niche market and few companies are willing to do it.

>I’m looking at the keychron but don’t like the colorway.

Keychron's boards are cheaply made pieces of junk that are known to develop serious issues over time like dead switches (that were soldered), broken backlighting, etc. Their customer support is often not helpful (from what I've heard), leaving those people both out money for the Keychron and having to spend more to buy a new keyboard. The thickness of the case basically forces you to use a wrist rest, like it or not. Stay away from them.

>Looking for 75%

Relatively uncommon layout choice. 80% (commonly referred to as TKL) are far more common.

>I’d like something where I can change the switches and keycaps in the future.

Technically, you can change the switches on any mechanical keyboard if you don't mind soldering. There are also hot-swappable boards that you can easily change the switches on, but you can only change the switches so many times before the hot-swap sockets wear out.

You can change the keycaps on every mechanical keyboard, although 75% layout keycaps are non-standard so they are much harder to find, and when you do find them, they are usually more expensive.

>Wired + wireless if possible (I'd like to use it with my iPad but not a deciding factor).

Wireless is not that common. Personally I wouldn't get wireless because it almost always costs more (or is less quality for the same price), has lag, and I hate having to deal with batteries.

>Scrolling thru mechanicalkeyboards.com I’ve seen some really cool keyboards but can’t find anything if they work with Mac.

If you look in the Details & Specifications section of a keyboard on MechanicalKeyboards.com, it'll usually say if it's Mac compatible. What this usually means is that there is a switch on the keyboard that switches the Windows and Alt key to the Command and Option key. But even if it doesn't specifically list "Mac compatible", basically every keyboard will work with a Mac. By default, the Windows key becomes Command and the Alt key becomes option. This is the default behavior but you can change it in System Preferences.

Here's a list of keyboards for you (no particular order):

Keep in mind that you can replace the keycaps on any of them if you don't like the colors. There is a chalk set here that should fit all of them.
