Is this deal worth it or would upgrading to a B550 be better?

I bought it in July 2017, so maybe I just missed it!

Check out the Aorus B450, they have a WiFi pro version you can get on Amazon for $130, a bit pricer than what you have listed but again I definitely think it is worth it. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FW85VFT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_xoOrFbZVCKCA7

would this be a good replacement for the motherboard? I can't seem to find the motherboard on sale

Get this motherboard instead. It has Wifi, that way you dont need that dongle. And it will work better than a dongle because you can attach antennas. https://www.amazon.com/GIGABYTE-B450-AORUS-PRO-WIFI/dp/B07FW85VFT Also, you switched to a case that has a tempered glass panel on the front which will choke your system for air. Go for the fractal design meshify C in white instead. Much better case, much better airflow, and objectively much better looking.

So, build isn't working, gonna try replacing the Mobo. What do you think about this board: Tried different HDMI's, and tried in different monitors. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FW85VFT/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apa_i_YDllEbNYFZ3XW

https://www.amazon.com/GIGABYTE-B450-AORUS-PRO-WIFI/dp/B07FW85VFT $130 for a wifi B450 board. No idea how good it is but it shouldn't have any issues. See what else pcpartpicker has as recommendations.

Yes,

Get a 3300x instead of 3600.

Find a cheaper 450W PSU.

Do you really need wifi?

If yes, i think you can find motherboard that has wifi. It would be cheaper than buying it separately. such as this one https://www.amazon.com/GIGABYTE-B450-AORUS-PRO-WIFI/dp/B07FW85VFT/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2WRMC4LHCJZWQ

I'd suggest getting the atx version of the exact board to rule out anything but typically if you stay in the same chipset you shouldn't have any issues. Once installed to the ssd/hdd any motherboard should detect windows and boot it.

Awesome thank you :) I did mean the 5ghz WiFi connection and I actually haven’t bought it yet, I’ve been waiting to confirm. I have this motherboard (GIGABYTE B450 AORUS PRO WIFI) arriving tomorrow with my Ryzen 3800x. It appears the board doesn't support Gen3 out of the box while some reviews say it does support it. How can I make sure it does support or "flash" it to be capable for my chip!?Want to game all this weekend!

Any AM4 socketed motherboard that has onboard wifi should work. Here’s an example.

Itx has different mounting holes. So if you already have an atx case, it probably won't bolt up.

The board you want comes in atx too. Amazon link below.

Is it ok to throw a sticker on a motherboard? Does it have to be a certain type of sticker? Also, which mobo would you recommend of these two? These had the best value for what I was looking for (wifi included):

Wifi mobos land around 100$+ so will total abit more(20$+). Though it'l also come with better everything. If you aren't that tight then you can go for B550M PRO-VDH WiFi/AORUS PRO Wi-Fi/B450M BAZOOKA MAX WIFI/GIGABYTE B450M DS3H WIFI.

Last two are budget friendlier though out of stock(Amazon/Newegg). No clue if they're available in other sites.

If you can't then imo it's fine. Regardless of revisions you're most likely gonna upgrade storage next anyway. And you've granted yourself the opportunity of getting a bigger/better nvme as you've bought time with the 2.5" start.

This is the cpu: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core, 12-Thread Unlocked Desktop Processor with Wraith Stealth Cooler

This is the mobo: Gigabyte B450 AORUS PRO WIFI (AMD Ryzen AM4/M.2 Thermal Guard with Onboard WIFI/HDMI/DVI/USB 3.1 Gen 2/DDR4/ATX/Motherboard)

They should be compatible.

I don't have a multimeter. People on the imgur post seem to be suggesting it is a psu issue, and maybe to consider getting a different one or rechecking the connectors.

I'd go with the B450 Aorus Pro Wifi if you can find it in stock.

ASRock's B450 PRO4 ($104), as well as Gigabyte's B450 Aorus Elite ($114) and B450 Aorus Pro Wi-Fi ($128), are all good options. According to Cr1318's VRM ratings, the PRO4 has a slightly better VRM than the other two. It's also the cheapest, so that's what I'd personally go with. However, one of the Gigabyte motherboards might be more suitable if you have specific I/O needs.

So now you have the following options: 1) you can buy a motherboard with onboard wifi, like this. these are a bit pricey. 2) you can buy a PCIE wifi card. There is a variety of models out there. The main difference between them is Mbps, the more, the better, the more expensive. You can usually find one for around 30-40-50$ depending. It looks like that. And the 3) and probably cheapest option is a usb wifi adapter. These also come in varying mbps and prices. They are usually not as good as the previous options. These look like this. The general rule is that you get what you pay for. You can’t give 5$ and expect no lag or slow internet speeds. If you want a nice gaming experience(and considering you cant use ethernet) I would strongly suggest either 1) or 2).

I have a quick question about SSD's,. My Mobo has two m.2 slots, but they seem to be different sizes? I installed my samsung 970 into the second, smaller slot, but it is only 1TB and I would like more storage space.

What is my best option, is there a different type of m.2 SSD that will fit in the larger m.2 slot? Do I just go for a traditional SSD

Appreciate any insight!! Thanks in advance.

SSD I have installed: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BN217QG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Ok. You seem like a nice enough person and I would love to help. I reccomend creating a PCPartPicker list or starting with one of their already done ones as it allows for a nicely laid out and intuitive interface.

Naming conventions:

Mobo = Motherboard

RAM = System Memory. NOT storage. Where programs go when you open them. This is the thing Chrome likes to consume.

CPU = Processor

GPU = Graphics Card. Technically only means the actual graphics processor but it is common to use it to refer to the actual graphics card.

PSU = power supply

HDD/SSD = Hard Drive / Solid State Drive. Both are forms of mass storage for Windows, pictures, games, etc. More on that in a bit.

Chipset = what determines motherboard compatibility with CPUs.

Ok, with that out of the way, your budget should allow for a Ryzen 5 3600. This is the CPU. The Ryzen 5 3600 has 6 cores and is a fairly high end CPU on the market today, plenty for gaming / work / video editing / whatever floats your boat. This is around $200

That CPU can go with many different motherboards, but the kind that I would recommend is a B550 or B450 motherboard, like this one. Any motherboard with the B550 or B450 chipset will be compatible. These are around $130.

You will also need RAM. 16gb is probably about right for this build, and Ryzen likes fast memory (memory speed is measured in Mhz, the more the better but 3200 is a nice spot). This kit of DDR4 (the generation of memory) is compatible, fast, and will allow for plenty of multitasking / gaming / whatever you're into. About $60

Let's find a power supply. Power supplies are rated by 80+ certifications, and 80+ Gold is a nice place to be. Here is a power supply that offers enough wattage. This power supply is from a reputable brand and is a good price. $80

Storage: This is where you can get creative. SSDs are very fast but are more expensive. A typical situation is using a smaller SSD for the operating system and a big hard drive for files since hard drives are slower, but cheaper. An SSD that I would reccomend is this one which is $55 and has 500gb of storage, coupled with a hard drive like this one, which has 2tb of slower storage. Perfect, storage is $110.

All that is left is the graphics card, assuming that you are reusing your case. For this, we have about $220 to spend so let's get a Radeon rx5600xt. This is the GPU. Linked here is a good card. Alternatively, you could get an nVidia graphics card, like this one. This goes a little bit over budget, but offers better performance.

Windows is free as well, it will just have a watermark in the bottom right of the screen. If this bothers you you can purchase a license for $120 from Microsoft, but you can use it inactivated for an indefinite amount of time.

I hope this helps. If you have any questions, please let me know. I will make a PCPartPicker list and put it here too.

Edit: PCPartPicker List : https://pcpartpicker.com/list/fX3pgt
