The cas latency. It’s basically how long it’s gonna take to respond. The lower the better. This is the same kit but lower latency G.Skill RipJaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin SDRAM PC4-28800 DDR4 3600 CL16-19-19-39 1.35V Dual Channel Desktop Memory Model F4-3600C16D-16GVKC https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07X8DVDZZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_aQJyFb1YF58G8

G.Skill Ripjaws V 3600MHz 16-19-19-39 isn't too much more expensive. I would go with that if you have an extra $18, assuming the other ones you're thinking of don't have significantly better chips.

I just got a new set of ram. this set to be exact. But the only way I can get my PC to post with 3600 cl 16 is by lowering my infinity fabric to 1600 which is suitable for 3200 MHz from my understanding. Am I practically running 3200 MHz ram at this point? or is there some benefit of having 3600 MHz even though my infinity fabric is lower?

I've tried two different kits and neither of them run at the advertised speed with 1800 infinity fabric.

My point was that testing doesn't really show a performance difference between 3200 CL16 and 3600 CL18 and you're less likely to run into any issues, compatibility or otherwise, with the 3200 kit.

That being said, I just saw this kit, 3600 CL16-19-19 for $85. Seems like a steal. Not sure what prices will look like in the UK.

If you're looking for advice, I would suggest going with this G skill 3600 kit since it's quite reasonably priced for the speeds. This particular kit has been pretty stable at this price since it dropped down here, but idk if it's just holiday pricing or what. Your ryzen will really appreciate the clocks and timings on these.

Also, while the x570 boards are great, they do cost more than double of some x470 boards, so unless you're really looking forward to the pcie 4.0 or some other features I would recommend looking into those cheaper and still great x470 options.

Anyways, good luck with the build and have fun.

Your Build is pretty good as it is, as everything is well balanced when it comes to price to performance but in saying so you should increase the speed of your Ram to at least 3600Mhz as Ryzen cpu’s are more efficient when using faster memory and at this price point you could easily do use if you spend $10, then you could get this instead: https://www.amazon.com/G-Skill-RipJaws-PC4-28800-CL16-19-19-39-F4-3600C16D-16GVKC/dp/B07X8DVDZZ/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?keywords=gskill+ripjaws+v+series+16gb&qid=1585428735&sprefix=G+Skill+rip&sr=8-1

You can definitely go with the r3 3300x. It's just the r3 3300x is a 4 core/8 thread cpu versus the r5 3600 being a 6 core/12 thread cpu. I feel the roughly 70-80 dollar price difference for the r5 3600 is very worth it in terms of future proofing.

CL18 vs CL16 is ram timings. CL16 at 3600mhz is more ideal then CL18 for the ryzen processors.

While not RGB ram this is a great deal for 3600mhz CL16:

OK, sorry to keep bugging you, do you think B-Die is important on 3 series. And how does the G.SKill Ripjaw Series V compare, do you think, compared to the ones you posted? The ones you posted would charge $10 shipping and the G.Skill is then about $8 cheaper, for what looks like the same timings on amazon?

I have this ram. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07X8DVDZZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I'm sure it's compatible, even though it's not listed on the motherboard's site. Lots of other people have this ram with the Tomahawk Max and R5 3600 and they say it works perfectly all you need to do is turn on XMP. But yes, I tried one at a time with each stick in the 2nd slot, and nothing. I have no other ram to put inside my system to see if the RAM is the problem. Do you know of any other ways of testing the ram to see if it works?

  • This kit is 16 GB (2x8) of cas 16/3600 for $84.99 if you don't mind giving up the RGBidness.

  • ASUS TUF X570-Plus is a much more popular and recommended mobo going for $164.99 right now.

These two options total roughly $10 USD more than the linked combo. Very worth that price difference, from what I've researched.

I don’t know if “AMD Optimized” means anything, but CL18 is a bit loose in terms of ram timings. I mean its not bad, but you could do better on price and performance if you can handle ram without RGB.

If you can deal with not having RGB I would recommend this set of Ripjaws V

But if you need your RGB, these Trident Z Neos look pretty nice also, but are more expensive.

But overall the “AMD Optimized” probably doesn’t mean much and the ram will perform alright, Ryzen is more sensitive to speed and timings but we’re splitting hairs here and at most you’ll maybe lose like 3% fps max with the Corsair kit.

G.skill Ripjaw V 2x8gb, 3600, cl16 is like $80. Solid option. Mine wouldn't run at 3600 though so I set it to 3200 but it still worked great. Later got corsair vengeance rgb pro 2x8 3200, cl16. If you like rgb the corsair vengeance rgb pro is a great option.

Up to you. I never use stock fans and always provide my own. Could be your backup if you want.

Cheaper ram can be had. Most around 70-80 bucks of that same caliber.

If you want RGB you'd pay for it. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07WVT8SGF/ref=cm_sw_r_apa_i_IN1OEbAZV6C83

Opinions solely mine:

  • Great CPU. Great GPU

  • There's no real reason for you to spend $200 on 1TB of storage. I have no doubts the Sabrent Rocket PCIe 4.0 NVMe drive is great. You have no need for it while gaming. Hell if I were you I'd grab a 500GB SATA SSD and a 2 TB HDD for $100 for my storage. If you'd prefer an NVMe I'd recommend the Sabrent Rocket 3 or Western Digital SN550. No need to spend $200 on 1TB of storage.

  • Faster RAM. I like this G. Skill Ripjaws kit personally

  • You don't really need an x570 board. A good B450 is sufficient and anywhere from $85 to $100 less.

  • Some good cases are Phanteks P300A, Fractal Design Meshify C, NZXT 510
