I love em! I’m not an audiophile by any means but from the week so far, no complaints. I primarily bought them because of the high number of positive reviews on amazon and they met all my requirements of being self-powered( no amp needed) , Bluetooth, and aesthetics. If you want a more honest review I’d check the link below.

How about some Bluetooth-capable bookshelf speakers like these?
1 points • lasttycoon
All of them are straight up trash, even for a sound bar.
If you are set on a soundbar, consider something from audio focused companies or at least media focused companies.
Polk, Vizio, TCL, Yamaha, ect.
But really, you should just get some active bookshelf speakers instead.
Something like this would sound much better. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0719C132V/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fab_9LZHFb3YFW6QG

Good quality turntables pretty much never come with speakers, period. You're better off getting powered speakers with Bluetooth and connecting both Spotify and the turntable to them. Saying that it is "pre amplified" just means that you dont need a separate pre-amp or a reciever with a phono input to use it. You will still need an amplifier and passive speakers, a pair of powered speakers or connect it to your computer via the usb port and then connect powered speakers to your computer.
These are very popular in the U.S. Not sure what is available in Europe.

Honestly, you'd probably be better off getting something like these Edifier R1280DB speakers, in the end. (Or, as an upgrade, this pair, with all the same inputs as the other pair.)
They'll run you a LOT less than $700 for two Home Maxes and the sound quality is very good. Most average people probably won't notice any substantive difference between them and a Home Max.
They also have a lot of inputs for your various devices: two sets of analog stereo RCA jacks, optical digital in, digital coax in (uses an RCA jack, but with a special cable), and Bluetooth. The two speakers hook up to each other with normal speaker wire, too, so you can put them as far apart as you like — you just need to pick up enough speaker wire to do it.
We currently have a pair hooked up to our TV over the digital coax for the audio from all the devices connected to the TV, including our Shield. Then my turntable is plugged into one of the analog inputs, with a Chromecast Audio on the other.
In your setup, you could easily hook the TV (and thus the Shield) up to the speakers, then pair the Nest/Home Mini with the speakers' bluetooth to get better audio from that, too.

Which one is better, Klipsh-41M or Edifier R1280DB
Both are amazon and are the same exact cost. Also, I have very little audiophile experience. I'm in search of an opinion of which would be better for PC gaming.

I wouldnt consider myself an audiophile either (I save that money for my gtr gear heh heh). That said, you should def get a new table, that one you have is damaging your records.
That AT you linked is probably a relatively decent table but you'll still need to buy a preamp to go with it to interface between the table and whatever your stereo set up is. When I'm investing in a piece of gear I always stear clear of gimmicky or non-essential features like "convert to digital" gadgets. Just identify the core things you need and spend money on just that stuff.
For the cost of the table below you're probably spending the same or less then the AT + preamp to get sounds out of your stereo. Plus, that U Turn will last you 30 - 40 years.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073V2XRLG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_w70mFbT4BYEFQ
These are the speakers I'm running in my house and I absolutely love and use them every day for the past 3 years.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0719C132V/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Jb1mFb8SEMM3A
You can run the U Turn with on board preamp directly into them with no other gear which rules. Plus, they have a bluetooth function so if you have any streaming service or digital collection you can play from you phone or computer all day long. They're loud as fuck and crystal clear. Aaaand, you can plug your tv into them too. All in it was a little over $500 but that's all the gear I need and I use it daily. Let's say I dont replace anything for another 10 years (conservative estimate) at that rate the whole rig costs me $.14 a day.
Spend a little bit more money now and you'll have more money in the future for John Coltrane and Funkadelic records! You'll be glad you did.

If you wanted to go amp + bookshelf speakers, I’d recommend either the Micca MB42x for $90, or a pair of Infinity R152s when they go on sale for $150-160. I know the infinity’s are a bit above your budget, but they are fantastic speakers. I own the R162s and love them to death for the $160 I paid for them. If space is an issue, I’d avoid waiting for a sale on them because the R162s are massive. The Miccas are the go to budget recommendation, as they are a big step above the B652s in terms of sound quality. There is a reason the B652s are only $50 with a $20 Lepai amp.
Of course you’ll need an amp with those, and the lepai would work but I’d recommend something a bit bigger and more power. You could look at used stereo amps, or older home theater receivers but again if space is an issue (since you mentioned near field listening) this might not be the best setup. The pros are that you can swap speakers at any time, instead of being stuck with a set of powered speakers. I’d recommend looking at your local used market to see what speakers and amps are available, as you might be able to snag a great deal. You could look into class D amps in the $50-60 range such as an SMSL to power the MB42x, although I know it’s a bit above your budget.
That brings me onto powered speakers. I find that most of the subwoofers in these very budget units don’t add much value at all. You also don’t get much flexibility with powered speakers vs an amp and bookshelf speakers if something dies. Edifiers are regarded as the go to for budget powered speakers, and the 1280t is a very good set of speakers. I’m looking at a buying the 1280DBs for my dad, as they offer an optical input for connecting to his TV. I’ve also heard great things about the Presonus speakers, but I don’t have enough room for another set of speakers.
Micca also offers a powered speaker, the PB42x but I don’t know as much about them.
As for the Microsystems, I’m not really impressed. I’d rather get powered speakers then one of them.
With all of that said, here’s a TL;DR because I got a bit long winded:
I’d recommend a small amp or receiver if space isn’t as big an issue + non powered speakers for the best flexibility. It might be above your budget a bit, but it’s worth it in the long run. If that’s not your thing, I’d do more research into the Edifiers, Presonus, or the Miccas powered speakers as they are all great and will be much better than the Microsystems. Avoid the 2.1 setups because you’ll get better sound from the powered speakers without a crappy sub.
Feel free to message me if you’re interested in the used market. I can try to point you in the right direction, although I know we have this virus crap going around so it may be a bit more difficult right now.

Edifier R1280DB $129 adds a digital optical input for the TV.
Consider how you will control the volume. Is there a variable level 3.5mm or RCA output? If only line out you will need powered speakers or an amp with a remote. If only digital optical output you will need powered speakers or an amp with a remote and optical input or add Digital to Analog Audio Converter with IR Remote $20 to anything without.
Pass on the older MB42 without the true crossover and get the newer MB42X with the better crossover. Or Dayton Audio B652-AIR 6-1/2" 2-Way Bookshelf Speaker with AMT Tweeter Pair $41 instead of the MB42 if not going for the X version.

If you can put up wall-mounted shelves, something like these Edifier powered speakers might be a good choice.
They come in Bluetooth or wired versions.
Only the right speaker plugs into AC, and there is a wire between the right and left speakers, if that is an issue.

If you have space, Edifier speakers are great.
The Bluetooth connection works well and it's open, so you don't have to pair, just select from the Bluetooth menu of any device and it plays.
Can also plug in sources easily.

Do you have an amplifier? If not, you'll need to look at active speakers, which supply their own power. I don't care for them personally, but if money and space are an issue, they're your only option. My daughter has the Edifiers and they're pretty dang good. You can go down a model if you don't need bluetooth, but the higher models will get you a sub out, which you may want down the line. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0719C132V/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_FCJdFbR6M0GGT

The Edifier 1280Ts Will be the best bang for the buck and have a really good sound. They do have better options, the speakers have also have dual active inputs meaning if you wanted to plug in your Echo and say also run a wire from the Headphone jack on your TV they would both work at the same time without switching.
The Edifier R1280DB are basically the same thing but also have bluetooth but if you're going to be plugging in your Echo via rca to aux (included in the box) bluetooth won't be needed.
I have the 980T's but eventually upgraded to the 1280T's both are solid speakers that just work. These will pretty much be better than most bluetooth speakers out there in the same price range. I use the 980T's with my computer now.
1 points • gibson85
Two routes you could take here: go with active speakers that have a built in amplifier, or go the passive route which would consist of two passive bookshelf speakers and some sort of subwoofer plugged into an amplifier.
With your price range, I'd probably look into something like Edifier Powered Bookshelf speakers or if space is an issue maybe try the PreSonus Eris 3.5's (I have a pair of these on my desk).
Can you tell us more about your setup? Is this for a living room or a desk? What about your source(s)- do you mostly play music from your phone or CDs? You've come to the right place!
1 points • anomadichobo
Hey all, just needed quick input. Delving into vinyl for the first time. Wanted an easy but not junk set up, with options to upgrade later. I was thinking these two things:
Table, Orbit Basic: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0719C132V/
Speakers, Edifer: https://www.amazon.com/Edifier-R1280DBs-Bluetooth-Bookshelf-Speakers/dp/B08865JM4N/ref=sr_1_4?crid=3LWKGF5PGAYE2&dchild=1&keywords=edifer+r1280&qid=1606924117&s=electronics&sprefix=edifer%2Celectronics%2C143&sr=1-4
Just my couple of questions now: Do I need the preamp built into the table, or can I go with the version that does not have it? I believe since the speakers are active, I do not need a receiver at this time, correct? And finally, hoping to keep my starting set up around $300 - are these two things a good option (and then possible add a receiver later and upgrade speakers)?
Thanks so much for the help, hope I'm posting in the right place.

Can you be a bit more specific about the size? Keeping in mind, that, generally speaking, the smaller the speaker, the lower the performance.

Here is a larger speaker worth considering -

Dirt cheap method here would be getting a USB sound card. $8 on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-External-Adapter-Windows-AU-MMSA/dp/B00IRVQ0F8/
This converter would also work for $14: https://www.amazon.com/PROZOR-Digital-Converter-Optical-Toslink/dp/B00KNNSKV0/
At that point, the cost of optical kind of outweighs the price of cheap analog stuff though. Your next bet is to chuck $130 at some Edifiers with an optical input: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0719C132V

I'm having a hard time trying to decide which speakers to buy that i can use for my tv, laptop and phone. I want to buy a 2.0 set because i do not have enough space for a subwoofer or more speakers in my tiny dorm room. I came across the Edifier R1700BT and the Edifier R1280DB. The problem is the R1700BT has a overall better build and sound quality than the R1280DB, but the R1280DB has a optical input while the R1700BT has not. I can connect the R1700BT through my headphone output on my tv but i'm not sure if the affects the sound quality. Both set of speakers are around the same price in my country (110 euros).
So my main question is: does the headphone output on my TV makes the sound quality so much worse (does it even?) that i'm better of buying the slightly worse speakers that does have an optical input?
Or if you know better speakers for the same price, please tell me!
The speakers:
