Try concert earplugs. They're good at cutting volume but still allowing conversational speech to be understood. Here is a modestly priced one if you want to try it out without breaking the bank.

High fidelity plugs are worth it. Don't know about availability in Malaysia though.

I go to a lot of shows, and I cannot recommend these enough.

You can get great ones on Amazon. Eargasm ones have served me well for years now. Been to many different shows and they work great. Try to put some money into good ones that lower the volume of the sound entering your ears and not muffling it like the cheap foam plugs. You still want to here the fidelity. These are the ones I use. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019M576XW
You can use amazon gift cards if you dont have a credit card.

NAH, you were uncomfortable in a situation and you left.
You had no obligation to stay in the venue. You were in pain and uncomfortable around so many people. It can get stressful. I don’t see any problem with walking out if you’re having issues enjoying yourself in an activity meant to be enjoyed.
Your boyfriend had no obligation to leave with you. He was comfortable. 7 of his favorite bands were playing. He was given surprise tickets to a festival featuring bands he loved and didn’t want to miss out on any of it. He showed up prepared to sit through it all and endure the issues of crowds and loud noises.
Speaking from experience in a situation like this if he had immediately gone with you and missed the last 2 bands he’d be angry at you for that for a long time if he really did want to see them that much.
The only situation here where I see somebody being in the wrong is you snapping at him but it’s understandable given the circumstances.
Some people might disagree because he should’ve been the “dutiful boyfriend” and dipped with you but you had your phone and the ability to go to the car if you wanted.
Granted the sickness for the next few days blows but that’s not on him or you, I recommend getting a pair of these earplugs, I have a pair and I use them for concerts and for working with loud power tools. They make things more quiet without muffling anything or taking away from the quality of sound so it’s great for concerts.

I bought a set of Eargasm ones after seeing them recommended more than a few times in various places.
Having very little experience with other options, so far I can tell you, I can hear my music, I can hear engines and road noise but it's pretty quiet. I don't know about talking to anyone though, I've used primarily for music while riding.

I have no experience with this. I did some research to try to be helpful. I found these.

Healthy recommendation: Eargasm earplugs. Not just for Christopher Nolan's films, but for ALL loud movies and environments.

I use these eargasm earplugs for concerts and other loud/ crowded places where I still want to hear, just not as loudly.
I am not sure how they compare to your PPE requirements at work, but I like them because they cut back on noise but you can still hold a conversation.

I agree but I'm surprised no one mentioned high fidelity earplugs yet. They're ear plugs exactly for this purpose. They don't ruin the music but still protect your hearing. https://www.amazon.com/Eargasm-Musicians-Motorcycles-Sensitivity-Conditions/dp/B019M576XW/
Note: The link is just an example. No clue which brand is the best or anything. I assume they all do the same thing.

I wear eargasm earplugs. They are comfortable and you can still hear all the coach's calls.

These are a little expensive, but worth the investment. They preserve the quality of sound, so it doesn't sound like everyone has mush in their mouths, but it's like turning the world's volume down a bit.

If you want something less pricey for now, you can find silicone clay earplugs at drug stores that you can mold to fit your ears and block sound pretty well. My family are football people and get very loud, the eargasm earplugs help some, but I think the silicone would be better so I can be in the same room and have the silicone clay like completely cover up the ear canal opening.

I went on the search for earplugs like you described when I started frequenting metal shows and started riding motorcycles to cut out wind noise and still listen to the speakers in my helmet. I had the best luck with these.

That's pretty messed up. My parents took a while to really understand it too. I know they don't fully but it took a while and during my more depressive stages I could tell they were getting annoyed with my coping. I've had some rough arguments with my dad over his lack of understanding too. Honestly it sounds like he wouldn't understand through normal measures of sitting down and explaining everything. I understand the problems with having a parent be so stubborn and unable to feel empathy for another, and it might be best to avoid conflicts like this as much as possible. Another huge recommendation is to get some earplugs you can hang around a keychain or whatever you carry with you. When I get into loud situations these have been lifesavers: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019M576XW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_xjL0FbVPFN6WJ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
If you can somehow find a way he can relate to the issues your dealing with, maybe he can start moving towards an understanding.

for anyone looking for some of the earplugs like op is talking about.
these have worked really well for me.

I bought the Eargasms ear plugs in amazon and love them. No batteries or anything. They are tuned to remove engine and air sounds. Eargasm . For those people who ride without a wind screen this is a great solution. Also if you use these earbuds remember to lubricate with saliva you ear channel for a perfect fit. They are washable.

Eargasms makes great and affordable earplugs. they have a very low profile so they stay comfortable under a headset

This has been asked before, although for an EDM show. I stand by the eargasms that someone recommended. Went to a metal show with them and it was amazing. I've gone with cheap $5 earplugs, some in the $15-20 range and these were the best.

Very good advice! As I got older, I got very tired of walking out of a rock concert with muffled hearing. I use these and they may have saved my hearing: Eargasm High Fidelity Earplugs for Concerts Musicians Motorcycles Noise Sensitivity Conditions and More (Ear Plugs Come in Premium Gift Box Packaging) - Blue https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019M576XW/ref=cm_sw_r_em_apa_i_1RTPFbWMW5TBY

Try eargasms. They filter out the noise around you but you can still hear the music

You're looking for high fidelity earplugs, something like this

I started wearing a hoodie this winter while riding along with ear plugs and it definitely cuts down on the noise a bit more than plain earplugs.
I don't know if they are better than foam or not, but they seem to be.
Good luck!
2 points • VersysTheWorld
Yep, between them (example; https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019M576XW) and the foam style they are the best. I don't use my expensive custom molded ones b/c of the "noise" they make.

If you're still looking, my hubs and I got these https://www.amazon.com/Eargasm-Musicians-Motorcycles-Sensitivity-Conditions/dp/B019M576XW/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=eargasm+earplugs&qid=1580769884&sr=8-4

We go to a ton of metal shows and these work perfectly - we'd used cotton balls forever, which work pretty well, but these are even better!

They came with my Eargasm Hi-fi Earlpugs. They are awesome for cutting down really loud noise while still being able to hear btw.
There's also Hearprotek which are half the price and work just as well. They also have a little black case that's I bit longer.
If you want just the case search for pillbvase ornearplug case. Here's a 2-pack for $8
